It's a good roughly and clear summarization, probs for that. Just an important correction: the rise of Aksum was not driven by the migration from Yemen, like it was was widely believed in the last century. The semitic migration occured already around 1000 BC and originated in the Levantine, by second grade descendants of mixed semitic people and the "sea people". This migration, which was rather responsible for the rise of the kingdom of Dmaat, introduced the so called "south arabian" script in Eritrea, which at the same time evolved in Eritrea into the Ge'ez script and was used in South Arabia. Beside the fact of a cultural exchange with Yemen the theory of a migration from Yemen is already dismissed and it is not really clear, what the reason for the rise of Aksum was.

Geez does not come from the middle east, the semitic language was spoken in the horn before any interaction and there is distinct differences between the sabean script and the ethiopic semitic language with characters not even appearing in the former. It is clear that the semitic language spread from the horn.

  • @rakification

@@BF-bb5us You are not wrong, but you misunderstood what I wrote. I spoke about a specific semitic migration which is proven by many factors, the strongest from that is the genetic proof. This specific migration also brought the proto-sinaic script, which evolved into Sabean and Geez script. The certain Geez characters you're speaking of are very few and either self invented or more likeable already in use in exchange with with Sudanese demotic or meroitic Script, when also the "so called" Land of Punt existed. You mean the origin of semitic languages itself and the Geez language(!). Both points are true. Semitic languages evolved in general in the horn of Africa, mostly Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea Region. And Geez language existed before this semitic-european mixed people from the Levante migrated into the southern Red Sea area. This is not a contradiction. In old times swedish migration brought words into west germany, despite it was the same germanic language group. And even Geez, as a semitic language existed already before, it doesn't exclude the fact that the "other" semitic speaking people from the Levante influenced the Geez language

Can you tell us 1 king of Medri Bahri or a war that Medri Bahri won decisively between 12th and 19th Century? Do you know that Tigrinyas in Medri Bahir (Today Eritrean) descendent of Gonder and Wolo (Amhara Region in Ethiopia)? In addition, if the Ottomans occupied the coastline and 75 percent of the land (all the low lands) from 1557 to 1882, shouldn't Medri Bahri cease to exist? Lastly, tell us how Medri Bahri ( the king, leaders and fighters) prevent Ottomans that occupied half of Europe and 1/4 of the known world from occupying the highlands of Medri Bahir if it were not under the kingdom of Abyssinia? Ethiopia had a lot of kings. They fought against each other. They could have said the same thing about one of Ethiopia's states: Gonder or Gojjam or Wollo or Tigray or Shewa. Yet when an outsider tried to Invade their land, they put their differences aside, united and fought together. As a matter of fact, Medri Bahri was the weakest of them of all. They didn't have one true king but a Traitor. He sided with Ottomans and got killed. You should do more research before you post a video like that. It sounds like Eritreans' propaganda. You didn't even mentioned the kings of Medri Bahri (Bahr Negus) were assigned by the king of Abyssinia. Italians created Italian Eritrea in 1890 from lands that they took from Ethiopia, King Yohannes IV and Ras Alula who routed the Khedivate of Egypt (autonomous tributary state of the Ottoman Empire) at The Battle of Gundet in 1875 and The Battle of Gura in 1876 in North Abyssinia (Modern day Eritrea). Medri Bahri was a state in Ethiopia like California is a state in The United States. They are the same people. They have the same culture. They have the same faith. They have same DNA. If Italians hadn't set foot on East Africa, Medri Bahri would have been part of Ethiopia.

Why did you go to war with your neighboring country for 30 +years? I will tell you why. It was nothing but pure greed, Superiority complex, and lack of self-esteem. Tigrinyas thought that they did not have what it takes to be trailblazers. To be honest, I have more respect for Italians than Tigrinyas or Eritreans. Eritreans had no ba1ls.They didn't believe that they could transform Ethiopia to Byzantine Empire. They just wanted to live in buildings that Italians built (Asmera, little Rome and all) and work at factories and shops that Italians opened and left behind. They traded their blood for salt water. But Italians knew that Ethiopia was poor. Yet they saw its potential and invaded it. They dreamed about turning Ethiopia into Tuscany and Addis Abeba to Florence and inhabiting it before their dream cut short in 1943. The Muslims in low lands did not want to join Ethiopia because Ethiopia was a Christian nation and they had been under Ottomans rule for 300 years. Their motivation was spiritual. On the other hand; first, Tigrinyas couldn't wait to join Ethiopia. A lot of them were campaigning for unification. They then left Asmera and saw what Ethiopia was like. Ethiopia was extremely poor... especially outside Addis Abeba. They were disgusted by what they saw (droughts, pain, misery, and suffering) and Tigrayans migrating to Asmera and doing low paying jobs and all; They didn't want no part of it: "Those people cannot be the same tribe with us. We are closer to Tigre people than Tigrayans." and all. They sided with Muslims. That is independence in Eritrea; Superiority complex, detestation, betrayal, avarice, contempt, lack of self belief, and division. Eritrea stands for a selected few. On the other hand, Ethiopia stands for courage, passion, unity and black beauty. Black people looked up to Ethiopia. Ethiopia was their source of pride. They all counted on Ethiopia to unite black people around the world. Yet Eritrean took away that dream from them. But that is another story. Do you know that Tigrinyas' ancestors were from Gonder and Wollo (Amhara region in Ethiopia). They call Hamasiens Amhara. We are not all that different. In fact, we have same DNA. It is a matter of understanding our potential and achieving more.
