That was unreal! I've never seen a woman -- and very few men -- ride the barrel that well. Caity Simmers is like a natural-foot Tommy Carroll -- A little freckled nugget with total commitment.
Caity is the best thing to happen to professional surfing in the past decade easily. Her power and future success is unlimited and she reps SD hard!
This young lady lives up to the hype. She has the unspoken extra as a surfer. Good style and instincts that you cannot teach. A person either has it or they don't. Hope all the best for her as a surfer.

She is an excellent surfer but one of many of the new crew of Ladies surfers. She just seems to be hyped more. Her last wave at Bells was over scored. Defay won the Bells.

I don't follow the less exciting sports like surfing, just curious how it's being ruined. Is it like post 2020 Wheel of Fortune where they always have a female bleep as a contestant to make up for the lack of bleeps that test for Jeopardy spots?

@@Napoleon-xp3sm The judges and sponsors #1 priority is to work together to maximize profits at each event, surfing is secondary...Its why the top 2 women surfers dropped off the tour and why the brazilian men are getting screwed. The corporate money comes from California so the WSL is favoring the Californian surfers.

Wearing a helmet is gay. I don't respect it. You have to fully offer yourself to the consequences and be vulnerable. Thats what makes it real. helmet = not a worthy sacrifice to the shred gods. ruins the beauty of it. Irremediable to the soul.

Drooling all over yourself and putting your loved ones in a position to have to change your adult diapers til you die is a lot less cool than a helmet. And if you’ve never surfed Pipe, especially at size, you’re the least cool of all, especially for using “gay” as an epithet.
