The Body Follows the Mind with Taylor Knox

Фильм және анимация

We traveled to Salina Cruz, Mexico to meet with Vuori Collaborator and Professional Surfer, Taylor Knox, and learn how Kelee Meditation and DNS training (Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization Training) help shape his ethos for the everyday.

This is the new generation of sponsorship, older folks with wisdom and experience maximising life well beyond the previously considered scrap heap. Meditation, mind and body symmetry is critical and TK has been developing this for decades. So great to see and a wonderful path for us all to ponder.

"Who you are vs. what you do." Powerful idea. So easy to get caught up in what we do that we forget whats most important. Respect for Taylor Knox and those who produced this film 🤞

Wow, I just want to express my admiration and respect to the creator of this short film I would call it. YOU, whoever created this did an amazing job. Absolutely beautiful visual, auditory and contextual work. I even forgot that this is such a small channel yet, so I can be sure you will grow much bigger if you give it time and effort like you are doing now. Also big respect to Taylor Knox for his wise words and insight on his life. All in all this production was a great piece of work. Thank you!

Thank you Vuori for making this video, it’s one of the best things I’ve ever watched and a very smart choice in supporting someone like Taylor Knox. I met Taylor years back and in only a 30 minutes conversation with him, he made me look at life differently and this video has inspired me to be a better person. So much gets put online of the latest surf clips and the next day, it’s forgotten, but this video will make an impact on the way people look at life. Well done and an amazing job 👏

I have the EXACT same story (except I never made the tour). Spondylolysthesis, insane sciatica pain, operated at age 19, same scaffolding in my spine, told I would never ever surf, even by my local chiropractor who was the contets director of the boardriders club! I accepted it, made peace with it. But then luckily one of the surgeons said "maybe we can get you back in the water in 6-8 months. Maybe". 20 years later, just booked my first Mentawai boat trip, before I get too old and my spine crumbles!!

There is no separation between a good surfer and a better person...they are one. The extraneous thoughts and actions that we bring into the surf have nothing to do with that connection. Taylor has worked hard and managed to integrate the two. His love and drive for the experience of surfing, that connection, has motivated his drive to complete his internal growth. A true champion of his "self". I remember when Taylor caught his winning wave at Todos. I was just breaking in to the deeper and more meaningful realms of surfing. I was inspired for sure. But it also started me on my quest to explore Baja....a trip that has no end. Thanks Taylor. Keep up the good work.

Great video. Good points about “Hard Work”. A few elders on my journey reinforced “smarter not harder”. This can’t be said enough times, especially to current youth that are being led to believe the hardest work will somehow manifest what they are looking for…pro tip, it won’t. 🤙🏽😎🏄🏽‍♂️🖤. Great Video and much Food for Thought !!! Fine solid surfing at Black's Beach, especially the good water shot at 15:27 . It is not quite the Magic spot it once was before the Crowds. First started getting Great Waves there in 1964 when it was rare to see anyone around until Surfer magazine wrote it up in July of '65 right after the Mushroom house was finished.

I’ve had a similar experience. I was pretty sick for a decade. Specialists couldn’t help. It took four relapses and more and more fine tuning, but eventually, with regard to the spirit of our thoughts and my physical strength and agility improving, it turned out to be all related to diet. I was forced to eliminate everything but meat and animal fat essentially to heal. And boy did I. I hadn’t the slightest clue that prior, my spiritual void and negative thoughts were the product of plant toxins. As I purged them, my thoughts healed and so did my body. I’ve been very clear headed and even keeled for years now, and I feel more upright and physically strong than I ever have in my entire life. I don’t wish what I used to feel, mentally, nor physically, upon anyone. I don’t know how else to explain it. But something as simple as not eating anything but meat and fat changed my life. The divine focus I could never sorta achieve before is easy now. My mind doesn’t wander to distract me negatively anymore. I wish I would’ve figured this out years ago, but everything Taylor describes has also come to be my understanding now too, and I’m pretty sure it’s why our ancestors drew Bison and Buffalo on cave ceilings. Diet evolved us and then, sadly, devolved us, and that’s too clear to me now. Say what you will, but you can’t un-believe it or un-feel it once it clicks. The trinity is real. That I know. The more pure the more clear it becomes, and I think we knew that for a long, long, time. Wishing you all the best. 🤙✌️

Mike, You are CORRECT the carnivore diet IS the proper human diet. This diet HEALS EVERYTHING!! Even old injuries etc. I was thinking while listening that Taylor should try the carnviore diet. Carnivore diet would do wonders for him & his body, mind & spirit also.. Especially his old injuries. Taylor you have always been a amazing surfer & have always been a amazing human. You are one of my favorite pro surfers because of your kind gracious heart & amazing power turns & big barrow riding. Glad to see you so fit. Ch dr Sean Omara wil get you into even better heatlh. Dr Omara is 60, eats the carnviore diet and is in amazing shape. This is the best diet once you start digging. There are a ton more good doctors talking about the carnivore diet & its healing power. Library has books on carnivore diet & fasting. Wonderful thought provoking vd Taylor and everyone involved. 🌊

EVERYONE is Different in terms of dietary Needs ! Your diet is NOT for everyone. I'm 73 and still getting a lot of waves but limit the size now to double overhead. If I were to eat a small portion of one of yor meaty meals I would have a MAJOR GOUT ATTACK within 2 hours. Such an attack might take me at least 2 to 3 weeks to recover from. In that time I would have INTENSE PAIN in my foot or knee and be UNABLE TO WALK !!!!! On a 1 to 10 pain scale it would be about an 8+...a 5 would be like being shot in the foot with a .22 caliber pistol and an 8 would be like being shot 3 more times and then told to run on it or be shot again !!! Unless you have experienced Gout pain you have NO idea what real PAIN is. I CONTROL MY GOUT WITH DIET and DO NOT TAKE DRUGS to prevent it or stop it. It has taken years to work out a totally vegetarian diet to stay healthy enough to keep me getting WAVES....and as a last note you will Not always find good answers online because no one ever mentions pyrimidines in addition to the purine warnings. There are negative affects that can trigger a GOUT attack from things like vinegar, tomatoes, and even spinach. And sorry folks, Alcohol is BAD...especially BEER !!!!!!!

Mike, YOU are CORRECT. Meat heals the body. this is lost medicine. Let food be thy medicine ~ Hippocrates Father of Medicine Carnivore diet IS the proper human diet. It heals EVERYTHING. Eat your meat, skip your veggies. there is a reason why NO kids likes their veggies...they know the truth subconsciously. Taylor you have always been one of my favorite pro surfers not only because of your amazing surfing but, because of your kind huge heart. check out carnivor diet Taylor to heal your old injuries. you will see the truth. Meat heals the body.

Sincerely glad to see he's still out there, lol but those CROWDS [EVERYWHERE...] lmAO What i'm about to say is not a slam but just an observation/opinion. Taylor is a great surfer, but there are basically two types of surfers maybe more and that is there are 'The Jocks' and there are 'The Artists' types of people who ride waves. One is from the "competition" school (of points) and the other is an artistic expression not conforming into drawing the same lines after lines after lines after predictable lines. The Jocks are amazing with their gymnastic spinning in the air stuff not doubt about that, and yep its extremely difficult. But judging surfing is like judging music or artist who paint and judging those things lol with points. You can do it but, its pretty childish. Taylor has been doing the same lines since i've first saw him, they are good lines but like a musician who just practices the same exact thing over and over to a metronome for hours, days, decades -- yep! You do get faster but it's *not* from the heart and it's not from the soul, it's just a robotic sport or whatever. Again I say this respectfully because it's sad to put surfing in a contrived box. Peace

@@fahey900 Recommend? That's a tough one, I say that because we all have our own opinion of things including myself. Usually (but not always) the more artist type fall under a soul surfer as they used to call em or a free surfer. Bottom line when people just be themselves and surf or do anything because of they're passion or it's in they're DNA you will recognize it and see it, they don't make money fame and all the other ego trips they're *priority.* Another words they are they're own finger print God gave them, and well 'they will be themselves' at all cost; when you see those signs you've witnessed more of thee artist type, again just my opinion. When people do things for money and points, sponsors, clicks, attention and everything that turns them into a money robot you'll see that too. Surfing is like music, a painting or a band - very subjective. Making music, painting and bands a sport lol well hopefully you catch my drift. Be yourself and you're fingerprint first when you surf, by doing so your stoke and smile, well no amount of money and recognition can buy that or replace that, it's the real deal and will last decades. Winning a contest is bragging rights for decades and is determined by a few + judges lol but not everyone at the time, again 'subjective.' Anyone doing their own thing no matter the cost, or doing their own thing and even getting support of some sort, support IS good! Nothing wrong with that. Peace
