Well, judging from the start, Eddie's car was used to cause the accident so the connection from underground is there.
this game was my whole childhood, spent hours playing it on PSP and even 100% completed it, got every collectible in the game and without a guide too lol, super fond memories
This, Burnout Legends, Motorstorm Arctic Edge and Midnight Club LA Remix were the best racing games on the system.

It's interesting how different versions of Carbon handled the crew members winning the race very differently. On PC and home consoles, if your crewmate wins the race, you win the race. On GBA, your crewmate is basically considered traffic and it doesn't matter if it crosses the finish line or not. On DS and PSP, you lose the race if your crewmate finished before you.
Finally someone else who brought this gem up this game needs more love
This game is a blast, I would play it every night "real quick" (I stayed up till 3am everytime) during the the summer and it was great. The music whilst not exactly screaming "speed", still felt fitting and was a bop to listen to. I also really liked how the cutscenes were all drawn, I even made a whole drawing of Carter based on the concept art. I didn't have too many problems with the wingmen til the endgame, but I totally remember them just crashing into a guard and just staying there. I feel you could've talked more on the difficulty at the end, I am 100% convinced the last lap knockouts are IMPOSSIBLE. Im glad you made a little review on the game :)
@BlooTeg

you're right, the lap knockouts are extremely hard unless you get a better car by the end of the game (which I had to save 2 whole areas to get) haha
This had me so hooked as a kid on my PSP, easily my favourite PSP game
YESSSS, THANK YOU FOR MAKING A VIDEO ON THISS! I love this game soo much with it's story, the HUGE twist ending, the overall dark tone, the cutscenes and the soundtrack. Certainly one of the darkest racing games and one of my all time favourites, just for it's dramatic shift from the usual NFS titles.
One of the darkest NFS in the franchise. Enjoyed the hell out of it in the PSP not to mention the comic style cutscenes were well done in order to tell the game's story. Poorboy's Nissan 240 SX was my favorite out of all of the cars in those cutscenes as well, sure it was a Eastside Boys decal just like the Skyline from the first Underground but still it looked good on that 240SX

Exactly how i wanted NFS to be, realism inside the underground racing scene
I still find it funny at times how they managed to put such a dark story in this game with the ending it has only for the handheld consoles, makes me wonder how it would have been seen it if was on the PC port

There is another non-main line NFS which i recall being quite good when i was younger that was on PSP, called NFS Underground Rivals. The garage in the game was really cool, with different garage styles: cars being parked in garage sets, and on lifts or fancy parking spaces, pretty cool stuff ngl.

It is probably the best NFS for PSP. Not only because it has an open world, but also it has some of the best gameplays in NFS' PSP ports. And at this point, everything can be canon in NFS, every story arc is disconnected from one another, and the apparition of Eastsiderz implies that this game belongs to the Underground arc and may even be canon, and i like to think like this

Ah yes the game where you play as a Murderer.
The biggest flaw in this version is the start of the game, IT'S REALLY SLOW. But when you reach the half of the game, it turns into a kinda fun side-game No, it's not the hardware's fault, the DS version (despite being limited in many areas) still has a better sense of speed compared to own the city on PSP
Random fact about this game: this game was the first need for speed on the psp with the open world feature, undercover has open world events like bounty events, cop smashing and thats all i think

Sometimes I feel like the only person on the planet who discovered this version through Zeebo.
I like to think the only reason the player had sympathy for Mick and wanted to avenge his death was because he couldn't remember how abusive his elder brother actually was; not once did the player (even in the GBA version in which he has dialogue and isn't mute) say upon being released from the hospital that he wanted to find out about Mick's death. It also surprises me that Carter did not endure any trauma from Mick being his former wingman; who knows what he would have dealt with? That said, in case you didn't know, there are still references to Rockport in this game; the RFPD headquarters are still present and shown in the game - and if you look closely during the brain scan scene - it shows that the player was admitted at the Rosewood Hospital (which cannot be found in game as well). That said, it is impressive that the developers somehow managed to port two thirds of the Rockport map into this game. As for NFSMW 5-1-0, while some of the circuits represent Rockport in terms of aesthetics, the map layouts for most of these circuits were actually bits and pieces taken from Bayview's map. In the same right, NFSU Rivals has some imported maps from Olympic City, while incorporating aesthetics from both Bayview and Olympic City. You could say that for these games, they incorporated the maps from previous games; NFSU's maps in NFS Rivals, NFSU2's maps in NFSMW 5-1-0, and NFSMW's map in NFSC:OTC. This would imply that NFSUC for the PSP could have used Palmont's map, but instead reused Rockport's map, included Camden beach, and gave it a complete redesign (RFPD still exists, too). This is how we're able to see the familiarity of the main maps even with a completely different setting while having that sense of dejavu. I hope that makes sense; apologies for the word salad!
Good game on PSP, with interesting atmosphere. The first time I was surprised because of the map.. P.S: You have a very funny and cool mascot! :)
Damn, i remember this one, loved it back on my PSP. Still remember how for some reason, i basically finished the whole game with my fully upgraded Lancer Evo IX (which is tecnically among the beginner cars in the game), either out of love i have for that car as well as considering it the "canon" car to use since i could spot it on the protagonist side during cutscenes... or simply because i wasn't getting enough money to buy better cars, one of the two for sure xP Glad to hear you had a good time with this hidden nfs gem too! Great content as always!

I knew of this version, but it's one I never had the chance to play. It's interesting to see how much of an upgrade from the GBA version it is. Thanks for the video!
Ngl, this game looked pretty decent for an old handheld. And that story was probably the most pleasant surprise of the game.
It makes me very funny that the same critic says that it is a bad port just because of the title
Miss my old PSP days. GTA Vice City/Liberty City Stories, NFS Carbon Own the City many more awesome game wish mobile games had really good games
Can't believe they wasted the story of this game on a PSP title. Would have banged on a home console
A good retrospective on one of the best NFS games, you are right to say this feels like the lost Black Box NFS game. I played this on the DS in my childhood and it was, and still is, fantastic as a racing game on that console. If anyone's thinking of trying it, PPSSPP is very easy to set up and you'll have a great time of it.

So I also had some other NFS games on it.
The biggest misconception of people who have played this version is the belief that Eddie's team are the same people, however, if you look closely you can see a funny thing. In NFS Underground the team is called EastsiderZ, when in this version they are EastsiderS.
