Awesome project. One nitpick with the design. The stairs go right into that soffit. Maybe a ladder would have been a better choice. It's a tough room because you have the door to the left blocking the stair placement and the window on the right. That client needs to figure out a way to remove or relocate that soffit. See I am concerned about the distance between the top stair tread and the soffit which looks to be only about 24 inches. That is tight even for small children. Maybe cutting the railings so they are coplanar with the tops of the bunk bed rails or even as low as the bottom of the top bunk bed rails would fix it. Am I making sense? Because, even though kids can hunch down as they get higher up the stairs, how would an adult get up there to make the bed? One complicated option would be to make those railings hinged so they can be swung down. This configuration of beds in a basement room looks like the owners are setting up for Airbnb. In that case cleaners will require access to change the bedding. Gees, that soffit is just really in the way. The room presents a really difficult design challenge.

I actually offered 3 different design options and the customers were fully aware of their decision. It looks tight, but an adult can still get up there to change the bedding. None the less, your concerns are correct

Wow, dude... I'm in the middle of an office reno w/ built-ins, and I imagine your eye was twitching like mine does with this project. Great craftsmanship, though. Also this: "Hmm, all this will need sanded at the end... think I'll go on vacation then." -- inside Cody's head, probably.

Who commissions a big bed build like this only to install it in the basement 🤔 are they planning on kidnapping a bunch of children or something worse 😢. I come to the conclusion that Cody was talking about his vacation to Disney world and was referring to Mickey Mouse saying he could only touch him there aslong as he had ky jelly with him😅😂.
