    I recently moved my family to the countryside, abandoned my career as a chef and got a job at a custom furniture shop, but will definitely be going solo asap. Watching you is giving me the same vibes I got watching the world's greatest chefs work their magic. I wish you 10 million subs so you can focus on educating the next generation of fine furniture makers. Keep up the awesome work, much love from Serbia.

    Beautiful result - the wood and paint combo works great in that application, and I appreciated the 'visual weight' explanation since it provides a rationale for what I've always done "just because." I agree with the comment below about an A-frame or something, employee or not... I hate hefting big assemblies too, but more worrisome to me is always the risk of dropping it and damaging the piece. ... nasty little Hobbitses...

  • @FortressFineWoodworks

    Starting with a good primer/ product is important. I use envirothane 170 white primer. Spray with a graco airless with a 308 fflp tip. 2 coats. Then sand with 320 until everything is flawlessly flat and smooth. Then one coat of envirothane 200 white topcoat with the same spray setup. This will flatten out so well you will tear up with joy!

    I noticed you said you prefer to use maple instead of poplar because poplar tends to dent easier. Do you buy hard or softy maple? Just curious if you find soft maple hard enough for your furniture projects or if you fell hard maple is the way to go.

  • @FortressFineWoodworks

    @FortressFineWoodworks

    6 ай бұрын

    That's a wise question. The soft maple that I can source is usually figured, curly or quilted, making it harder to work with, and not any cheaper. I would say soft maple is a step better than poplar though
