    So I'm not even jealous of that shop. Not one bit. Nope... You asked: I know 2 things about video production (jack and s**t), so I'll leave that awesomesauce to you. What I would recommend is to stop using any kind of phillips head screws except maybe - maybe - for shop furniture. I prefer the torx because they rarely cam out. I've cammed one out, but only because it was on it's fourth re-use in some shop cabinet I was throwing together. Based on a comment reply below, no you're not responsible enough yet for band pyro. You don't want exploding drummers (hope you get that reference).

  • @FortressFineWoodworks

    @FortressFineWoodworks

    Жыл бұрын

    First of all......Thank you as always. I love the torx but they are twice the price, and a bit thicker which causes problems with the countersink bits i use. So drywall screws are just a cheap go-to. And second, no I dont get your reference so youll have to elaborate!

  • @mattelias721

    @mattelias721

    Жыл бұрын

    @@FortressFineWoodworks Yeah, true on price, but I'd prefer to work around the thickness problem (not much of one since they're usually self-tapping, and an undersized predrill will be fine; might need to drill first, then apply the countersink)... and not to mention extracting a half-sunk, cammed-out screw. Reference: Spinal Tap.

  • @FortressFineWoodworks

    That makes sense. I've personally had those screws split plywood since they are a bit.... girthy.

    @@FortressFineWoodworks Well, I have largely Powermatic machines. I acquired my dad's model 50 jointer he purchased new in 1972. I also acquired a Powermatic model 201 planer - similar to yours, but a little smaller, 7-1/2 hp and a 22" wide bed. This machine was in a fire at a local cabinet shop and was just pushed aside as insurance bought him a brand new one of the same type and model. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Purchased this machine for a mere $750.00. Fully restored and a beast. This identical machine is still available today for a mere $12,000.00! I don't know that I have a favourite machine, I have several Fes-tools that I enjoy. I like them all!

    @@FortressFineWoodworks you made a big claim about professional grade cabinets and so many KZreadrs make similar claims so there was some of that going on in my head. However, you showed a lot of thought that went into your project, explained things really well, dados and rabbets and pocket screws and dominos, etc. It wasn’t anything personal just my own bias against content creators that make really shitty things
