A Packrafting Expedition - Kayak Camping Wilson Creek pt 2
Фильм және анимация
Sometimes, you have to do something against the flow. Sometimes you must leave behind the traditional parameters and safeguards. It was time for something unsanctioned. Join us on our packrafting expedition that covers the entire length of the Wilson Creek in North Carolina. Our journey begins on high on the peaks of Grandfather Mountain where we lose a team member, hike into the night and find a terrific camp. We pick up the source of the Wilson Creek on the South face of Calloway Peak and then follow the river by foot until it becomes floatable by raft. We continue the journey down the river through the Class IV gorge section and beyond. Come enjoy some kayak camping in the form of packrafting! Find us at riverkingpete.com Thanks to Gatewood Brown for joining us on the adventure and lending his talents / @gatewoodbrown Thanks to Alpacka for the packrafts www.alpackaraft.com/rafting/
Much thanks to my friend Jason Lowe for the use of his amazing music. Jason is an authentic talent that has been carving out a career in music for over 12 years. The musical field is a grind for artists that refuse to bend to the digitization and commercialized distortion of their art. Yet he persists! If you enjoyed his music, please show Jason some love and support at www.jasonlowe.bandcamp.com.

Thanks SP! It just keeps getting better!
Now you have me standing up and saluting! You guys are my heroes. I AM IMPRESSED !! I thot the bushes on the trailless upper drainage would shread you. I bet you cursed ever time those high paddles snaged an overhanging limb. I scrambled UP crawling UNDER thick bushes and without pack on the steep south slope NE of Calloway. I was going up, you were coming down..but with 55# packs..good Gawd !! The boulder garden between BRP AND 221 ought to be a park in itself, it is so beautiful. Few hikers go there. It would be my JOY to put in a scramblers trail between the two roads. Yall did such a GREAT job of filming it. This is the part of the series i came here to watch.

Usually when the going gets rough and the cameraman needs to use both hands, we get a long digression on what they had for lunch..as if you couldnt video lunch in your backyard. THIS cameraman holds on to the scene and it is much appreciated. Dont know how he found time for it!

Thanks Robert! I try! I feel like the hard parts are what will characterize the experience...I try to keep it all in there and the camera rolling!
I missed the video but was able to go back this morning. I just spent the past few days up on Johns River at a camp with the kids. I love this area of the mountains.

There are a few who are experts in that area and find caves and have secret camps among those boulders. But they dont make vids. And you are right..few do it.

Right on Gatewood!
I enjoy the authenticity, of your narration. You highlight the real feelings throughout. Even though you all are having a blast. The body wears down, and you don't always feel chipper. Can't for the paddle section, you guys have earned this float.

Another awesome video Pete! I love the idea of bushwacking. It is so inspiring and fulfilling to know you have laid eyes upon the beauty that only a few or no other humans have probably ever seen. The ability to pop up a hammock and fix a meal where no one has ever camped before is the best kind of camping. I can't wait for the next chapter. Kudos you guys, that was some rough miles!

I've been busy lately and haven't had the time to finish watching until just now. This trip looks like a truckload of fun. Not sure if my knees could handle that long of a trip on that terrain, (Lord knows I would try!), but glad you are taking us along on this epic adventure, Pete. Great job guys! One other thing, who in the world could give this video a thumbs down??? Are you serious???
