A Love letter to the Fujifilm X-T1 2023

Ойын-сауық

A sort of "review" and love letter to one of my favorite cameras over the years.
A camera i got first when it came out when i traveled to paris, and loved using a few years before i sold it. Then it got new life as i wanted to adapt Vintage lenses and bought a used in mint condition a few years back.
Follow my story and watch some slideshows with images i produced from the X-T1 together with both modern lenses and older fantastic vintage lenses.
I had quite the cold when i tried to record the sound for this video, so i hope you can be gentle on me regarding the sound and my raspy voice!
If you feel the Intro is too long and not your "cup of tea" just use the Timestamps below and enjoy the freedom of technology ;)

I use an X-T1 for a large part of my photographic work, and I can confirently say I really enjoy the camera! The colors are great, and though the video and AF isnt stellar, it strikes a good balance of old Fuji charm and good usability thats hard to get in other cameras.

That is awesome to hear, glad you are able to work with it as well which i suppose nowadays not many are doing since most try and get the latest and greatest to use in their work. I still shoot for work with my Nikon Df and D4 which i suppose also are seen as "outdated" cameras by many :) Thank you for watching and commenting. Regards Martin.

Hi, Extremely enjoyable video thanks! Ive owned 3 XT1's, there's something weirdly magic, alluring & v special about it! Wonderful candid family shots too, what the XT1 was made for, thanks for sharing all these 👍 Quick question please; whats the magnification like on the Zuiko 3.5? Does it offer a true 1:1 & whats the minimum focus distance? Best wishes 🙏

Own an X-M1 and bought used with a Silky Pix CD with software to convert raw. Pretty odd software. And it expires! So I was shooting jpeg on the same sensor as your T1. The previous owner had upped the blacks setting and before I read the manual I couldn't believe the look I was getting on the first day. I was sold. But the files were truly too small to make my kind of print, square format around 16x16. So, I bought the T2 used. What a thrill. Now, the X-H1 runs the show due to It's ibis. No more Fuji bodies. Just vintage glass and some stunning Fuji primes. Too bad I live in a town with crime now. The fall is coming, and you know how sweet that is to shoot in...

  • @martinandreasson5504

Thank you for sharing :) I never tried the X-H1 but the Ibis and video seems sweet if one wants that. And the newer version seems even better. I almost wasconsidering the X-T5 for it being more of a photography model than the previous versions, but im done with Fuji system except my X-t1 for now even though i really like what they are doing :) Now its about adapting some cool lenses on the X-T1 and i use my Nikon and Leica gear for the rest. But...i saw the new nikon Zf which makes me think of my Nikon Df and the Fuji X-T1 and thats supposed to be a very cool retro looking camera, so have my eyes on it and waiting for the final judgement to come when people have been using it for a while before taking the plunge myself hehe. Yes! the autumn colors are out in full here now, i live close to a town but at least around where i live there are some nice colors to photograph at the moment, hoping for good weather this weekend... /regards Martin.

Nice video 👏 I’ve always wanted the 8 element Takumar 50mm f1.4. Highly collectable so not cheap. I am adapting the original trio of Pentax Limited series of lenses to my Fuji X-E1 and X-E4. The 43mm f1.9 is a virtual pancake but much better with adapter however it’s the 31mm f1.8 and 77mm f1.8 that are more special in their character. They were designed in the film era so have that character. But Pentax updated the coatings for digital so you can have the best of both worlds.

Those lenses sounds great :) Actually have not tried them. Thats awesome. Regards Martin.

Another great video, Thanks, don't forget to try Voightlander lenses, they are amazing. I have been a faithful Nikon shooter for as long as I remember however, now and then I decide to try other brands, Fuji was no exception. For a while, I owned a Fuji XT3, a great camera, and a few Fujinon lenses and I was very pleased with the results. Fuji achieved all the desired results but I sold out due to the APS sensor size. There is something special about a 24x36 full size sensor. Now I miss my X-pro and next to non Fujinon lenses....what to do!

Great quality. and nice results as you say :) But yeh...i always kind of wanted the same kind of camera and size but a FF sensor! Haha, well, the problem is also now that people "backtrack" when they buy cameras and want used older models because of the price and that they are still so good, the prices are even going up again ....so yeh, get one before they go up too high! :P

Glad I came across this video. Just like you said, I have a Nikon D700 as a secondary fun camera and i love it, the only problem is its weight especially with good quality lenses. It either stays at home or car. I listed it for sale several times and deleted the listing thinking i have to find a small and light replacement first. I have been thinking of a X-T1 but was looking for some opinion on the colors between the D700 & XT1. I don't need IBIS, AF speed, high MP's or low light capability. I am just looking at the colors (JPEGS), that don't have to be super sharp, something that are pleasing and have a vintage vibe to the images (I am not interested in newer fuji cameras like XT2 or later) Since you used both cameras, I'd appreciate your thoughts... thanks in advance.

  • @martinandreasson5504

    @martinandreasson5504

    6 ай бұрын

First of all thank you for watching and being here :) Then i would have to say that the D700 IS such a great camera,, one of my favorites overall from the past and actually bought a second one a few years back that i later sold again just because i needed some funds hehe. And the files from the D700 are great as you already know. The X-T1 is not the same, but great in its own way. And as i say in the video the sensor from the X-T1 is my favorite of the X cameras i have used. Sure if someone is after the Jpg preesets from the later models you dont get them all in the X-T1, but the sensor makes up for it in my mind. I would say as a everyday fun camera which also have some great lenses to choose from and is easy to carry around the X-T1 really fits the bill. If the files or the Iq is very important the D700s are maybe "better" meaning of course better in low light and you can work more with the files afterwards to get them perfect for you. But if you are still ok with that and want the other benefits of the X-T1 i believe you will be happy with it :) Not sure what lenses you are using on the D700? But to get the most from the X-T1 the lenses i recommend the most are : Fujinon 35mm f1,4 ( for me the smallest and with fun vintage look but great IQ, just slow af but i know you dont care too much about it ) The Fujinon 56mm f1,2 for portraits, very nice dreamy and not too big for a great portrait lens. The 23mm f1,4 also a great walkaround lens with great IQ. If you want wider instead of the amazing 16mm f1,4 ( its pretty big and heavy) id recommend the one im using currently, the 16mm f2,8 and that is weather sealed. Hope that helped some at least. And good luck and let me know what your decision is later :) /regards Martin.

Oh, I totally get it. Early on, I got tired of the larger Nikon D300 and similar. In 2014, I bought and still love shooting my X-T1. I did scale down my camera body with the Sony a6600, which amazes me in ways that would take too long here to describe. It's also is a pleasure with vintage lenses I have in Nikkor, Voigtlander, and Zeiss. But you know, I still relish in also using my X-T1, especially with street photography here in NYC. I also love its in-camera processing! It's a camera I'll likely always keep. Not because it's perfect, but because it makes me feel like it is. Cheers, and enjoy!
