A Channel dedicated to Photography in general, where i will try and add content about anything photography related. Partly to share some of my work but also because i love photography so much and like to view others work as well and talk and discuss all things photography.
My goal is to have a library of reviews and clips about the gear, film, books i am passioned about, but also to be able to share the things i do on a regular basis when it comes to photography.

Anyone else who owns a Df watching this? I love my Df and will likely never part with it. There is just something extremely theraputic about using this body. The "analoguey" feel of it really makes taking photos fun. The 16MP sensor has INCREDBILE low light capability and is forgiving of older, cheaper glass. The small body size makes the camera easy to carry and unobtrusive. I tend to use it with old D series prime lenses which are themselves light and compact.
Thank you :) The Df is one of a kind. Having bought the Zf i can still say the Df has and always will have a special place in my heart. If one can live with the Dfs shortcomings and has needs for the strengths of the Df there is no other camera out there with the same capabilities for me. And as you say the 16 Mp files are incredible, and even at high ISO the images never look off, just if anything organic and analog :)
Hi Martin, I’ve just discovered your videos. Excellent work. The Voightlander 40 1.2 is on my wish list. I still have the Nikon Z7 having come from Fuji because the cameras and controls were too small for my large hands. I love the Z7 but yearn for the Zf analogue controls. The DX mode in the Z7 gives me two focal lengths per lens which I use frequently. Is there a DX mode on the Zf? If there is I could be persuaded to swap. Greetings from UK.
Hello Christian and Thank you so much :) I think the Zf for me at least have really ended up somewhere in the same spot when it comes to filling that digital/analog void between analog and digital cameras for me. Similar to the Df for me. Although to be fair the Zf looks better and feels more modern. The sensor i the Df is still my favorite, but the other tools you get with the Zf kind of nullifies that edge . And speaking of the VL 40mm it makes the Zf an even better candidate for that spot. Just wish Nikon had their own, and still wishing they will in the future , make a Nikkor lens with that nice aperture ring and nice feel like the old styled lenses had. Fingers crossed! About the DX mode, im not using any DX lenses myself, and just making a quick search i see many saying that the Zf adjust when you put a DX lens on, but dont take my word for it having that mode you speak of. But im betting it does :) I hope that it does and you in the end get the Zf, its a wonderful camera, although with some quirks like all cameras. Going to make some sort of review on it after even more time with it. Have some more lens testing to do, and also puting it through some more shooting situations before i have the best overall view of this camera. Regards Martin.
Thanks for your reply Martin. I wasn’t sure if you still read emails so long after the video. I look forward to watching your future artistic videos. Subbed.
Hello,i have found one in a very good price but its missing this tiny plastic flash sync cap. Do you think it loses the weather sealing without this? And i cant find it anywhere to buy it.
Hello! Hmm, good question! It just might but not totally sure to be honest. Personally i would not worry about it and probably buy one if the price is right. You could always just put some good tape over that opening or such to protect it, but otherwise its so well built in other parts so if not in a downpour i would not worry too much anyhow :) Good luck in your decision making! /regards Martin.
Do you also own or used to own the D700?
Hey :) yes indeed, had it twice and loved it. I could still have one today to be honest if it were not because i have too much as it is. Also i try to use less heavy cameras as much as possible and the D700 was on the heavier side at times, especially now with a bad back :P Otherwise, one of my favorite cameras over the years for sure.
@@martinandreasson5504 would you say image quality is comparable with the DF? Df is still quite expensive.
Great lens reviews but you need to do the dishes. LOL
Haha thank you, yes i know! i realized afterwards and did not really think of it before i sat down ;)
You really found the sweet spot in this lens that others have discussed. It all comes together in your portraits and they are lovely. Thanks for sharing this!
Thank you so much for you kind comments :) And thanks a lot for taking the time to watch! Regards Martin.
Love what you're doing, great portraits and lens comparison! Ill keep watching more on your channel
Thank you again! Both for watching and enjoying it but that you feel its also worth it to keep watching later :D Regards Martin.
Very beautiful photos, many of which hadn't been possible with a heavy camera at home. Today I saw a LX7 in a shop but the photos I saw online don't catch my attention, as if they had not much soul, as with the LX3. Maybe the LX7 lens is digital corrected, what usually gives a subtle "digital image" look rather than photography, at least to me.
Hey ! Thanks a lot for your kind comment first of all :) I never tried the Lx7 actually, but you might very well be on to something there. Thats the case with many cameras and lenses i feel that are newer. The quest for companies back the was after all to produce a lens and camera combo that felt as modern as possible and with sharp and truth to life tones etc. Unfortunately for us liking character and a film look does not hehe. So the newer the lens and camera that is the case it seems. Im on the hunt for another LX5 now actually as i feel at least that camera met my demends when it comes to character etc. But still the Lx3 is even more special :) /regards Martin.
Hi, i have a question, how is the winding in ur rts. I also have one in good condition but the winding mechanism seems a bit to rough. Btw nice video. Cheers
Hi, sorry for not getting back sooner with a reply! I agree with that the winder was a bit harder than normal actually. Not that it was a huge problem on mine. Just noticed it was a bit tighter for sure :) I have since sold my beloved RTS 2, wish i still had it though, was an amazing camera to shoot and the lenses were great too! regards Martin.
Thanks for the reply Martin, that reassured me about my contax. See you
@@user-pv8fq5rs3i Thank you :D
very good !!! LX3 ~~~ my camera !!!
Thank you! :) great to hear you also have one! Regards Martin.
for the non nikon lenses, what adapter did you use?
Im using Urth adapter and K&F adapter :)
Right on. I have had the same experience with the df... I did sell both, but I miss the combo, so I bought another 58 and a used D4 with the same sensor as the DF... We'll see what happens..
Yeh, i did sell my Df after i bought my Nikon Zf, but still have the combo you mentioned , the D4 and 58 and wont sell that in any foreseeable future :) And might even get another Df at some point if i have the funds and find one in great condition. /regards Martin.
@@martinandreasson5504 How's the ZF in that regard? Is it possible to get the color brilliance as was with the DF/58 combo?
@@klarion I will confess that what i thought first would be something i would instantly try, shooting the F lenses on it with the adapter, has been something i avoided just because of my "disdain" for that adapter :P So i have not tested it that much yet with the 58mm. The few times i did i would say no, the Df or D4 with the 58 brings something extra special and unique. The Zf give me some other things i value like adapting other really cool vintage lenses i have in the arsenal, and together with the new Z28 and Z40mm f2 lenses its a fun smaller package i love using too. So its something else fun and versatile, but does not replace my Df in that regard. Will do some more etsting with it at some point because i want to use my 58mm more again :)
@@martinandreasson5504 thanks. We agree yet again.. I too dislike that adapter with a passion... and Nikon's decision not to make one with AF, like Sony did for Minolta users.
@@klarion Yes! its wrong in so many ways hehe. It was one of the reasons i did not want to even get into the Z system to begin with. For me also adding the non inspiring camera bodies and the heavy looking Z lenses that looked like they tried to be a mix now in design to Sigma or Sony...just cant believe Nikons design team decision when they sat down fo this meeting and how they could make his call...just flabbergasting. Then at last the Zf came along and at least i found a camera body id like to use, just had to get past that ugly adapter. But the use of nicer looking vintage lenses and the 2 SE Z lenses made it ok for me even though im not totally satisfied with it. I also added the Voigtlander 40mm f1,2 which is a wonderful lens that goes so well with the Zf :)
A good photo is taken by the photographer... and not the camera... the X-T1 is more than enough. A good meal is made by the cook and not the pan! But how we allow ourselves to be manipulated by the industry! Greetings from a Swiss living in the Caribbean❤
Very nice video! Trevlig film =) I bought my leica d'lux 4 on a second hand store 300kr and this was 4 years ago. It was in really good shape. I later bought a brand new just in case that my first one dies. Its one of the best camera i ever used.
Tack! :D yeh we mkight as well stock up on these gems before they go out hehe :) Its a lovely little camera . /regards Martin,
Is the black version oprically and mechanically identical?
If its the SL-ii i believe it is yes :D
I bought the LX3 new and loved it. Still have it and it's working well. Decided to upgrade and considered the LX5 but read that it wasn't much better. Bought a used LX7 with an eye level finder at a good price. Much better that the LX3 and probably the LX5 too. Still my main camera. Good 1080p video. Go for the LX7. A bit more money but worth it IMO. Get a 3 blade auto lens cap. You won't regret it after the annoying cap on a string.
would really like a Lx7 and if i see one im sure il try and get it in decent condition :) have not seen many around though, meybae for that reason, people like them too much and hold on to hem hehe.
Now have a variety (LX2, GF1, GF2, GX1, LX7, TZ90, GX880)of Lumix models and tend to use the LX7 the most closely followed by the TZ90 for a majority of the time, unless I want to use a fixed prime like the Panasonic 25mm Summilux.
@@kiwipics I actually got myself the VF for the LX5 the other day, its a great adition but also looking for the LX7 now to try it out. Only thing im "worried" about is not having the CCD sensor on the camera like the LX3 and 5 :) But otherwise everything else like you said looks great :)
Would love to see videos of you using these lenses and the results
Thank you :) will try and make something after using it for a while. regards Martin.
I had both the LX3 and the LX5, but preferred the 3. In the end I got rid of both of them because here in Japan the menus are locked in Japanese and the language can’t be changed. Sony does the same thing so Sony and Panasonic are both off the table for me.
Ow thats a shame! :) and that you cannot change that as well. Nice to hear you preferred the 3 in the end, i tend to have more fond memories about it too. Thank you.
Would to love to find one of these to try. I love the 85mm f1.4.
Its a gem of a lens for sure in my opinion. Its expensive and many do not get it at all. But if you do its a keeper :) yes thats an amazing lens too!
I have the LX5 📸✨
I absolutely loved my LX3, we had a fantastic time. I still have it but not used it for a while. I kept all my cameras even if they break (Ricoh GR) Now on a Journey with The Q, I agree they are both amazing. Fuji X10 is another gem to try.
The Q is one of my favorite cameras ever, especially the Q-P i owned last. Wish i had kept that a lot of times. The Fuji X10 was a fun camera that packed a punch as well :) /regards Martin.
@@martinandreasson5504 glad I kept mine. 🙌
I keep hunting them and I jave 3 now. Use them more then my Fuji X100T or Sony A7R III. LX3 in bw mode and iso800 all the way. Greetings from Malmö.
Hej! Yeh i can relate to the feeling of wanting to stack up and save for the future as well :D Im so happy to have 2 now at this point, but will surely also add a LX5 in the near future if i can find one in decent condition. For the moment i have found myself using the LX3 more than all my other cameras hehe....so yeh i can really relate there as well. Greetings back from Stockholm :)
If you upgrade the firmware you'll get also 1:1 aspect
Ow! i have not done that, cheers :D
I bought a new LX5 back in 2011 and must admit to it being one of my favourite cameras. I bought a couple of genuine Panasonic accessories, including the EVF and the tube extension, allowing me to use filters. The lens on the LX5 has slightly more reach, and I find the range 24-90 covers most of my photographic needs. I never go above 400 iso and predominately shoot jpeg as I now prefer to be out shooting rather than sitting processing RAW files. When i have my days out on my motorcycle, this is the camera I take with me.
So very brave of you to admit such a thing!!!!!
The LX5 was a great little camera, and i also recall it being slightly better at creating separation when you wanted to take something more akin to a portrait with it which made it even more versatile than the LX3 :) I will most likely add the LX5 in the future if i can find one in decent condition and for the right price . Also the LX7 as i never got to try it out, but rather got the Fuji X-T1 and left the LX series after the LX5. I hear you, i have some awesome cameras both analog and digital, but i tend to grab what is the lightest and easiest 80% of the time nowadays, and lately since i got them back again, the LX3 is in my bag a lot :) So handy and fun to use. Thank you. Regards Martin.
I love my xt1, that I use along an ex1 and xt2, those old xtrans sensors are special! Not the best, but feel amazing to use
Thats awesome :D Yeh my favorite of the X cameras for sure. Like you say it has its limit in certain areas, but thats not always what is most important either :)
Superfina bilder
Tack så jättemycket!
Kanonfin video
Tack va kul att du tyckte om den 🤩 Mvh Martin.
hi! what mode do u usually use?
Hi✨ I use Apurture mode 90% of the time I’d say 😊👍 But now and again I use manual and manual focus for the macro mode for example 🤩 Regards Martin
Seeing the brilliant portraits of your son, I forgot about the camera. I did buy Zf, 2 weeks ago.
Thank you :) How do you like your Zf thus far? And what is your favorite lens for it?
Out of curiosity, do you plan to use any of the lenses you used on your Leica on this camera via an adaptor?
Hi :) Yes! i have already used the 35mm f1,4 Nokton on it, as well as the Summicron 50mm f2 Rigid, i mention it in my "new lenses for ZF video" here in the catalogue as well as show some of the images i have taken with the Zf+leica lens :) I only show images from the Summicron and Canon LTM lens with leica mount though as i liked those two lenses from my leica setup the best thus far. The favorite being the summicron Rigid which i really liked the images that came out with the Zf. beautiful glow and rendering. /Regards Martin.
@@martinandreasson5504 Thanks. I enjoyed the video and I look forward to seeing more including the video for "new lenses for ZF".
beautiful color & bw good!! good!!!
Thank you so much :)! /regards Martin.
Great Photos Martin and what a lens this is!!
Thank you SO much :) yes indeed, its a gem for sure, love it ! /regards Martin.
Beautiful pictures. I have no plans to get a DF, but watching your "review" was very well worth every second. That's the "Dream" combo of primes you have there. I just can't imagine travelling with primes (Maybe a 50 or a 35mm at most). The 24-120 was a life saver in my most recent family trip and I still regret not taking the 28-85 instead. Going around with a set of primes requires dedication (or a dedicated trip), but those beautiful pictures are gold and worth it.
Thank you so very much, both for watching and your comment :) Appreciated. A zoom for traveling is a savior when it comes to miss shots so absolutely not a bad idea. I always went with primes even though i did shoot with he 24-70 many years. And for weddings etc i could not shoot with only primes, so always use the 24-70 and the 70-200( except on the df too as its too big and heavy ). And in those instances its so nice to have them as well i the tool kit. But yes, when it comes to that special character and you get do nail a good shot a prime makes it a bit more unique and nice in the end for sure :) /regards Martin.
Wow❤
I wished the Zf would have been made for f-mount glass 😢.... (in fact the whole z - line) I was heavily invested in Nikon F mount glass for my D700. Tried the Z5 2 years ago, but found the ZF adapter to be a real pain in the backside. I eventually sold the Z5 and most my lenses, only kept the Voigtländers 40/2 & 56/1.4 andthe PCE 24 and 45 for nostalgic days 😊 For daily stuff I use the Fuji xe4 and XH2s. Btw, somehow sad to hear you sold your DF! Thx for sharing your thoughts on the Zf and glass!
I hear you, and agree completely! I still have my favorite F glass left. I havent used it on my ZF but still have my Nikon D4 for them. Also have a Nikon F100 which its nice to use on from time to time. But yeh, would have been amazing if it had been F mount on the Zf, for me it would have been a "worthy" replacement for my Df. Now speaking of that the DF will never really be replaced totally by my new Zf, it will be something else, a great and fun camera making me able to do other things i could not with the Df. But the magic of the Df sensor and those F lenses will always in my opinion be unmatched in a way sadly .. So yeh i also miss it and will occasionally. But i have taken so many photographs i love with it over the years, so will always have them at least. And maybe down the line il get another one if i find one in decent condition hehe :D
Great clip and nice overview! Keep up the great work 🙂* Thanks for the images, really love that format. * You have a new subscriber
Thank you so much! Just humbled everytime anyone want to watch or like the videos and photography, its so subjective after all. Cheers! /regards Martin.
Unsurprisingly, Nikon F mount old lenses with aperture control rings are not in your list. The Nikon Z software disabled the use of Nikon F mount lenses' aperture rings, which is a real bummer.
Yeh its great that we are able to use them, but not fun if you cant use the ring for sure. I just detest the FTZ adapter as well, so big and clunky so i rarely use my Nikon F lenses anyhow. And now being able to adapt M glass or other vintage lenses that are sometimes smaller and have greta character i just dont do it that often. I started adapting the 28mm and 20mm Nikkors to play around with on the Zf, they are not that big so are quite fun to have on there too :)
Beautiful pictures, Martin! Love your vintage combos. I have a ZF and the 28mm and use them for street and vacation pics. I've enjoyed the B&W switch more than I anticipated! I also used the ZF for weddings with the Neewer grip, and though it's still tough on the hand and wrist, the low light image quality and focusing are amazing like the Z9. The camera really is the best of old and new.
Thank you :) yeh i can see how the 28 really shines when your on vacation. haha yeh me too, i also downloaded som new profiles for the Zf, even more fun now playing around with the B/W switch! :) Can image the Zf gets a bit heavy in the hands after a wedding, look forward to testing that maybe this spring or summer hehe....well maybe not so much the hand hurting but the camera testing ;) I agree :) is a beautiful fusion! /regards Martin.
Very useful video thanks! Most of the profiles are disappointing though, but the bnw look top notch 👍
Cheers and thank you for taking the time to watch :)! /regards Martin.
I also have the first three lenses you mention. I also have the Jupiter 8 50mm f2 (also m39 screw mount), a soviet copy of the Zeiss lens. I just got the Canon lens yesterday on a Canon 7 camera so I am in the process of comparing it to the others, especially the Jupiter and a Nikkor 50mm f1.4 G lens that I have always loved. My first impression is that the Canon lens has more chromatic aberration than the others, but the bokeh seems very good.
Nice :) The Jupiter seems like a fun lens, have had my eyes on it from time to time being recommended that lens by others i the past too. Yeh sounds right regarding the CA on the older lens. The Canon is SO sharp for being such an old lens especially when stopping down a tad. But most of all the character is very cool i think. The Canon also looks great together with the Zf in my opinion, and nice to handle etc.
Thank you for the images ... 💐💐💐
And thank you for watching! :) regards Martin.
Nice moves while developing 😂
haha thanks, yeh i know someone would appreciate them somehow :P
Thank you for this very informative video - really appreciate you take the time to make this. One question: how would you describe the physical feeling of the Voigtlander 40mm 1.2 compared to the NIkkor 40mm f/2 SE? it should feel heavier as it is metal versus plastic, but size-wise which one is bigger? I also prefer lenses with aperture rings. Thank you.
Thank you for watching :) yeh as you say the built is of course different and there the Voigtlander wins hands down :) At least when it comes to quality and handling. But the Nikon 40mm wins when it comes to weight and size if you value compactness and weight more :) Overall though for me id say the experience of the Voigtlander is nicer, then i count the handling with the ring and focus and all the physical attributes i love using a Vintage looking lens. And of course the image quality is in some ways better too i think. But then again for some applications like street photography or more casual shooting and valuing compact and weight the Nikon is better in that instance :) Also the Nikon being surprising as i say in the video, actually giving you some very decent images its a lens i keep on the Zf 70% of the time just for being so useful :) Regards Martin.
I want to know if the plastic mount will allow more chance for dust into the sensor .
Good question, wish i know the answer myself :) But it sounds more likely in my mind too. Hope not! /regards Martin.
Gorgeous images, way to go!
Thank you so much! :)
Loved the review , the images, and presentation. However, I did have to use closed caption the music although nice drowned out you voice.
Thank you :) And Cheers for being honest, and for still watching even though you had to do that. I got some feedback already from this review and another i made earlier when i was just beginning, trying to get better at that now and listen carefully on my end and being better at watching the sound level before getting it ready. But still learning and trying to up the quality on everything every video i put up :) and the feedback helps :D! /regards Martin.
Tack för en trevlig film!

Thank you very much for your fantastic review . I had been checking many many photos these were taken by Voightlander 58mm f. 1.4 in these seven years and a half . But those were not so good for me . But your phots are very impressive . And I think I had to buy this . When would it come out? I couldn’t know it . Why ? Monetary reason . Of my eyesight . I own , Ai Nikkor 50mm f. 1.2 . T* Planar 50mm f. 1.4 ZF.2 . But they don’t fit me . Perhaps , I couldn’t get a focus upon eyelashes anymore . I want this . I couldn’t control this . I enjoyed this video . Thank you so much, both for watching my review, bit also for your kind words :) I still have this lens and really like it still. Glad it inspired you, thank you! regards Martin.
It's takes beautiful photos were the subjects have the time has stopped look
My brother just picked up one of these. He likes how it reminds him of the film cameras and doesn’t mind going back to 16 mps. I have always believed that it is not the camera, it is the person behind the camera. If an individual who knows what they are doing was to take a Brownie 620 film camera (yes, I own a selection) which is over 100 years old they could create some stunning photographs. Good video and I like the music in the background.
Thank you so much :) and sorry for the late reply, thought i had given an answer earlier and then life got in the way. Its exactly like you say.. For me i have taken some of my favorite pictures with it, and also on much lower resolution digital cameras like the panasonic LX3 or similar pocket cameras. Also its about the lens and as you say photog and character of the sensor. The Megapixels id say s a "no" factor in how the image will look , and for a long while backwards with camera models. I appreciate your comment! regards Martin.
