About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK and Escape to rural France to restore this beautiful building to its former glory.

I’m so glad to see Patrick keeping an eye on proceedings and keeping everyone in order, including the chickens! He’s very conscientious in his duties.
Cymbalaria muralis is not a weed, it is even protected, dears. It is a small wall-climbing beauty you should cherish. I hope this garden will be a beauty for sure 💕🌺

@@justinanovak8040 hi from Australia, we had this growing in our previous home. It does grow like a weed I must admit a very pretty one. I never knew the name so thank you for that. It has come up in some of our pot plants, much to my husbands annoyance, but I like it. If it gets a bit over grown it’s easy to pull out. Sadly here in the summer months it does die back. Like me it’s not a fan of the hot days.

Seriously, even Patrick and his miniature little legs are going at it full speed. That precious dog has stolen the hearts of everyone, please give him a hug from me. And from my chickens to yours …You can do it girls, show ‘em what you got!”💕🥰💕🥰💕🥰💕
So when you show the shot from the drone….its just sooo daunting. What a task. Honestly this is unbelievable!

For a dog with virtually no legs Patrick is the best and most enthusiastic digger ever!
Patrick with paintbrush in his mouth, pondering his artistry while renovating a suite. Endless enchantment and fun. Lol.
... and 5 years in future, after some hot summer day you all sit there, sip some cold drink and flowers blooming around, birds chirping, fountains splashing water....you will think: that hard work, sweat and blood under fingernails was worth it. Your royal garden shapes up nicely, good job!!!!!
Smart putting the lines in the pathway. The lines of the garden are starting to emerge so a person can envision it. You guys are doing a great job! Patrick and the chickens look happy too!

There was a previous comment about only having 169,000 subscribers. There r so many chateau renovation vlogs. ‘Escape to here’, ‘Chateau dreams’ there. It goes on and on. Most viewers just channel surf these vlogs. It doesn’t mean that their content is not good. This family works very hard to achieve their dreams but most chateau vloggers do work hard to keep their channel going and gain sponsors. Not everyone will subscribe or contribute to a Patreon fundraiser page but some loyal fans will. I will be keeping my money. I have donated to a summer camps, schools, hospitals and medical research. Donating to people who renovate a chateau, well, that’s on them. Most viewers just want to follow the journey.

I was just about to comment on the same thing. It's such an old beautiful wall but there is some degradation that needs repointing and missing bricks replacing whilst still easy to access with no plants in front of it, similarly the side wall to the left (as looking at the Chateau) and whilst the little wall creeping flower looks pretty, it is as dangerous as ivy for destabalising/ wrecking the mortar of any type in walls. Definitely needs cleaning off as and when it appears and leave the beautiful & flowers in the garden to those you plant and can control and which don't creep up walls.
So much enjoyed seeing the progress you are making in the garden. The drone shots were especially interesting because they show the huge scale of your undertaking. So impressed with all of you being undaunted by the enormity of all your projects. Probably the fact that you are such a cohesive team makes all the difference in getting those “just jobs” done!
Such a beautiful place you live. The music to this video was lovely.

Agree with all of the other comments. you can hardly imagine the jungle that it was 4 years ago.
So happy for you, hard work and dedication with artistry is bringing the chateau back to life again and it’s brilliant to see!
The dead straight bricks are a work of art, Ash! The drone really highlights the perfection!👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Patrick’s supervision is extraordinary❣️ The curbing looks very crisp gives you a nice edge to the walkways.
"Shorts" video vignettes of Patrick's life might help even more people find you and we would all Adore seeing him sleeping, walking around the upper apartment, nibbling his kibble, etc. 💛 😊 That's just a thought to tuck into your back pocket. ...Maybe Shorts could become a fun project for jonathan in the future.
Patrick--the serious doggie gardener!!! 🥰🌻❤️🎶🌻❤️🎶🌻❤️🎶🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🏰🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷
Don’t forget to run some low voltage line or just the conduit for some lights before the gravel goes in. Looking awesome!
The aerial shots of the garden are stunning. Your ambition and skills create results which are incredible!

If it’s weeds flowering on the wall it’s so pretty. I love how the doggie is right beside you while you’re creating that garden border. So cute. Oh and even the chickens are getting in on it too. Fabulous work on what’s to become the formal garden. Glorious 🤩
Your excitement is infectious, Ash! You two make such a good team. Terry with his internal vision and Ash with his outside vision!
Oh it kills me no lye pointing in the garden walls before you put in plants. It just adds such a depth of the wall being so beautifully done. I have seen other old walls done this way and it’s beautiful.

Oh my! What a short-legged inspector for Ash's gardening work:)
Wow, Ash, Terry, and Tracy, you are doing a phenomenal job with that garden, simply amazing. 👏 🎉
I simply love, love, love your channel. Your such a special family and so hardworking. I have watched you from the beginning, and I'm simply in awe of your determination to get things done. I'm so happy your able to get into the garden now, and I can't wait to see the progress on that over the next few weeks. I have to giggle every time I see your little doggie, so cute in the garden and a little shadow while your working, love it. The chickens, well what can I say, I love them, I love that they are out there and sharing in the spoils. Your all just amazing in what you have achieved the past years, I see your joy when you complete jobs and it's very real joy, so wishing you much success going forward, I'll be watching all the way. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You all should be so proud of what you have achieved thus far, phenomenal amount of back breaking days, lifting rocks and pavers and all those tires, remember tires in the future are a great base for road and carparks..filled and topped with gravel. I wonder if you are going to put a line of either mortar or cement at base of round stairs, it will help stabilise the bottom step especially with the amount of traffic it will have .😊
Another beautiful day ❤🎉 Very much enjoyed watching Sending you all biggest hugs 🤗
And Shorts of Patrick (sometimes in a little hard hat) digging His chateaux garden and surveying his land. Umm... also a Patrick cam!!! 😂 😊
I can't believe how much you've gotten done in such a short time! Of course, it's important to have the inspectors continually verifying that everything is done to standard (the chickens, LOL). Bravo encore !
The chickens and Patrick are having a great day!! 😁
Patrick is the Department of Digging Quality Control. He has vast experience after all. 😅
Ash you may not be a professional gardener but you’re definitely a perfectionist, the garden maybe on a slope but with it surrounded with walls it definitely will help with drainage, a bonus , loved your Forman and supervisor Patrick check the work, and time keeping 😂😂 the garden is starting to take shape, and as you said will stand the test of time .
All I can say is wow!! Don't worry about straight lines. There are no straight lines in nature, it's organic. Patrick doesn't seem to mind.
