About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK and Escape to rural France to restore this beautiful building to its former glory.

I think you should have a statute of your mother carved and put on a plinth in the middle of the garden she is such a source of strength and help it would be a great compliment to her .

I agree - a life-size statue of Demolition Mam with both hands gripping a 7lb sledge hammer and various power tools sticking out of a tool belt.....
I think a beautiful covered gazebo structure, for having tea/drinks/meals out there in that center spot would be fantastic and a usable space for outdoor dining, star gazing etc.

As a Landscape Architect I can state that I have not seen so called professionals do as well and with so much enthusiasm. You all deserve medals, well done. If I were well I would certainly volunteer. I certainly agree with a lot of the other comments a statue would be a wonderful idea for the centre circle.
for the middle circle, how about some curved benches where people can sit to enjoy the garden & chat

That was what I was going to suggest
LANDSCAPER, 30 YRS. 1654 HOUSE AND GARDEN, YOU MADE ME CEY, WHAT A GREAT EFFORT. GOOD ON YOU. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
I absolutely love the overhead shot at 20:40 minutes. The property is really starting to look like a Grand Estate, beautifully laid out. From the drone shot one gets an idea how big the estate truly is. So much thought has gone into the layout. Everything connects and flows so well.
Patrick looking over the wall is too much. I love that dog.
My suggestion is to leave the center empty with benches around, a place to rest and enjoy the garden with others.
Always love hearing Ash narrate the progress at the chateau. For people who were not chateau restorers in the past. You 3 are doing such a fantastic job.
Patrick is such a great help with the digging…..his breed is bred to hunt badgers❤️

Haha. He loves it 🥰🥰
A gazebo would be lovely in the center circle.
Patrick living his best life 🥰. Border looks amazing from the drone shot
This is your Camelot. Peace, serenity, beauty and love. What a glorious place. May you all have a long life in excellent health to enjoy this little piece of heaven.
I love seeing the animals “helping”, it’s truly delightful. I shouldn’t have a favourite, but Patrick is beyond adorable.
Definitely a beautiful fountain. The sound of the water has a calming effect, drowns out unpleasant noises from your neighbors, helps purify the air, encourages wildlife, cools the air during the heat of the summer and is beautiful in the garden. Gardens should not only be beautiful but use ALL your senses. I love to walk through a garden touching the different textures, smelling the scents and hearing the water, animals and wind stir the leaves.
I like fountains. I just don’t think you can have too many and your garden is huge. I like the idea of the circle benches as well around the fountain to enjoy the garden. It should be something grand as it’s the center and should make a statement. I also like the Gazebo idea. Whatever you choose make it a statement piece.
I love that the chickens are always helping
I think a lovely raised pond with water lilies and koi swimming about. Water feature, but not another fountain.
Yes, more history and mysteries please! It would be great to have a compiled history and plans of the chateau and chateau grounds for your lucky guests to read so they can more easily explore and admire the different aspects of the place while spending their time at the chateau.

I think a large planter-urn would look nice at the center or a large statue on a pedestal. Everything is looking fantastic. Much credit goes to Ash for all his hard and painstaking work. The accuracy of those curves is remarkable.
I vote for fountain, gazebo or pond for the circle in the garden. But the gazebo idea might be nice so people could have a covered area to spend time in the garden without being directly out in the sun.
what a walking-saver to store garden tools, blankets, etc. under the stairs.
Building the ledges and irrigation system will be the structure/ foundation of this garden. The backbreaking work will reap so many benefits later. This garden is going to be spectacular!!!!
I also think a large gazebo with benches and a little table would be lovely!!
You three are such hard working people, I am glad that progress is your reward. My feeling about the center of the garden is that every garden needs a water feature.. Similiar to Stephanie placing the fountain in the court yard of LaLande. It goes without sying that everyone wishes you well .
This is the first time I’ve seen the start of a Chateau formal garden and it’s going to be amazing. All possibilities, a statute, curved seating, a gazebo and so on and so forth. It’ll be amazing no matter what you guys do ❤

I think you should have a statue of ANTHEIA - The Goddess of gardens, flowers, swamps, and marshes.
Maybe leave that middle section vacant for a brief time...putting in the plants and 2 fountains...then you will see how all of it looks and no doubt some wonderful idea will spring forth as to what should be in the middle. Your guests will spend time out there.

Yes, Ash… it is without words, what you guys have accomplished 🎊 🎉👏👏❤️🥰 So wonderful to watch it all come together 👏👏❤️you all schuld all have a prize 🏆… Love it all🥰❤️🙏
The Centre of the garden definitely needs a tall three tiered slow dripping fountain surrounded by Boston ferns.
You're absolutely crushing it in that garden - it's going to be stunning, I know what incredibly hard work it is to heft and install that kind of edging just for a small suburban yard - the amount you're hauling, lifting and laying down is just unbelievable. If I were ever able to visit that garden, I think the central circle would be a great spot for a screened pergola to sit under some shade and enjoy a 360 view of the garden.
Store garden tools, hoses and accessories related to garden work, would be great too store under the stairs, closer too the garden😊
The garden is going to be magnificent! Tracy, Ash and Patrick, you are so passionate about Lalacelle. Everything you do adds to her beauty and pride of place. ❤

I have to wonder, that if Ash drilled the hole higher up in the wall, they may well have found a cavity.. It is also a plausible theory of it just being a storage area, used for that lower field, seeing as there is that water feature on the other side of the staircase. Ground imaging equipment may help with looking for anomalies, and inviting archeologists to test your site, may be an avenue worth pursuing in the future. The history of the whole area would surely turn up many ancient artifacts. I love watching everyone working so tirelessly to bring this lovely property alive and still be enjoying the place so many years from first seeing it. My garden is 6" of grey hydrophobic sandy soil, ontop of clay. A shovel wont do anything, a pinchbar is the only, slow wat to dig a hole. Got to love gardening.😊 With love, everything is possible. In Australia, it's very tricking gardening with huge gumtrees making a mess 24/7, but they bring happiness with every season, especially with the wildlife that live around our neighborhood.
my son is Autistic so would be great to have a sensory garden somewhere in your new garden plan. With scented plants, water features, rough and smoth statues, quite areas. That's aot but even on of these woukd be great for your visitors with disabilities. IRELAND
I am absolutely gob smacked! The garden is going to be magnificent. An award winner. You just never cease to amaze me. Love to you all for being so inspiring.

I'm incredibly impressed with the straight and curved border walls! They are Bogglingly well done.
My back hurts just watching you!! Such hard workers. As for the center piece for the garden, you'll know it when you see it. Just keep an eye out. Gorgeous camera work at the beginning of the video, BTW ❤
I’d leave the walls aged & enjoy the fresh stairs. I hope you’ll go to Chelsey Flower Show or Paris Flea Market for inspiration for the center of garden. I see a salvaged metal gazebo w/Roses🌹 I think Weinie dog loves Spring as much as Ash!! -SE Texas❤

Hi Ashe, some have made a great suggestion of a statue of Tracy with curved benches, I love the idea but make a topiary statue of a woman with her spade and shading her eyes from the sun as we have seen Tracy do so often. No idea the size of the middle circle but I suggest a large stone flower pot in the centre and two curved stone benches to mimic the circle edge.
