About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK and Escape to rural France to restore this beautiful building to its former glory.

The little fountain should be exactly where you see it in your vision. I have too much respect for your artistry to comment. The old vision someone else had is in their past according to their vision and path. I watch to see your artful vision unfold! You are amazing! This entire team is just stellar! Jonathan is such a trooper! Driving the tractor like a pro! Nice!

Terry you are so good at repairing the stone walls and the little fountain is very special. If it wasn’t in that location when the chateau was built then I would move it somewhere else, but if it’s in the original spot when the chateau was built then I would leave it there. xx

Ash and you did a crack on job removing that downed tree. Terry, you made quick work of the wall repair. Everyone pitched in with the terrace garden, too. I would keep the fountain where it is. If you bring everything up to the Chateau what would there be to see away from it? It's one of those things you leave away from the main attraction for people to discover. When I work on my gardens I try to have items that make you want to go even further to see. Then once there allow another "thing" be it a flashy plant, a small statue, *maybe a fountain* or a little water feature with a lily pad etc. Make the visitors take a longer walk.

Yeah, I say give the little fountain a prime position to be viewed and admired up the stairs.

I think it should be left in the original place, its part of the history of the chateau. I wouldn't paint it. I love the way it looks. There must have been a reason it was placed there. I wonder if it was part of underground water irrigation for the lower part of the garden. I love the idea of a slightly informal garden.

Jonathan driving!!!! How exciting. Wall building…excellent as always. Garden will be fantastic. If the original fountain makes a noise then your guests will go searching for it. Make a plaque for it explaining the significance of the petit fountain

What a perfect environment for a youngster to grow up in. It gives a young one the chance to learn real skills with real equipment. It teaches that hard work enables a good outcome. It demonstrates that many hands make light work, or at the very least, that many hands can lighten the load. It also teaches that commitment to family is important and worth the effort. You are a wonderful family. Best to you all.

Just imagine how many gardeners it took to move all that earth, back in the 1700's. You have an advantage over man power, it's called machine power. Yes, and the owners watched back then, too.

A chateau is full of "small jobs". The properties are so big and there is a never ending projects to accomplish. It is not for everyone to own and restore a chateau. You all are very harworking people and work together as a family to bring the chateau back to life. ❤

great Job lads, and lasses, oh my goodness how Johnathon has grow, it's lovely to see how brilliant he is at driving the tractor. well done Johnathon. I've watched a lot of gardening programmes and quite alot don't like the use of the matting, they say it causes lots of bother yrs down the line, watched one today it was a guy from Canada, he uses loads of wood chippings/bark. your lovely fountain would be nice kept in it's original place and maybe you could put a little table and a chair beside it with some lovely plants for people to just sit and have a quite secluded place to sit with a glass of wine, read a book, watch the sun set or just take in and savour the beauty that surrounds them, you could make a little wooden plaque where the seating area is and just write on it, Serenity. Tranquility. Mindfulness. I think that would be just beautiful.

Thanks Karen. We don’t particularly want to but it’s a needs must situation. This land has been left for over fifty years. Even today I dug down around 2ft and still pulling up bramble root balls. This is the only way really we can sterilise the soil properly. Hope you understand 🥰🥰

As a Gardener & Horticulturist, gardens have personality, history, hidden gems, surprises, peaceful spaces, spaces to entice you to explore further, fun places...I'd suggest leaving the fountain there. You could add a plaque. Great work guys. Can't wait to see it flourish even further. 🌼🌹🌻🌹🌻🌹🌼

I like the fountain where it is; it just makes a private little space. When I first started watching the video today, for some reason I thought about the chickens and that I had not seen them in a while. Lo and behold, not far into the video I spied a chicken; then another. I was laughing. They are apparently doing well from the look of them. Lots of "little jobs" ahead, but it will look wonderful when the nice weather resumes.

Terri, I think you should leave it in the original place. But make sure it's hooked up and running. Because, when people are towards that end of the garden, the sound will draw people down the stairs and it would be a lovely surprise.
