99 Mustang GT with Nemak Part 6 - Assembling the Short block

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I go over how I install the rods and pistons in the engine block. This is another critical step and its important to check that the ring gaps are where they are supposed to be and that they are facing the correct direction. I also go over bolt stretch and the recommended torque for the connecting rod bolts. A bolt stretch gauge isn’t required. If you follow the manufacture recommended torque spec, then engine should be just fine.

Do you still sell the Teksid Short blocks? I was just looking on the site and did not see them and a link I had before no longer works.

Hi, do you know if the Manley directions for their rod bolts are different depending on whether you have the upgraded ones or not? I have the same rods but not the upgraded rod bolts like you and it says to use the 30-weight oil instead of the ARP lube. Do you recommend using the ARP lube even though the directions call for the use of oil instead?

30 weight oil will be better than nothing, I prefer to use the ARP stuff that comes with their fasteners but if you don't have any then the oil will work almost as good. I have not see directions say to use oil, the directions I get recommend their lube. Unless I missed something.
