99 Mustang GT with Nemak Part 13 - Upgrading the 4.6 2V with a Boundary Oil Pump & 3V Windage Tray
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
In this video I upgrade the oil system in our project 4.6 2V engine. The Boundary pump is great, it comes with billet gears, its blueprinted, has the stainless steel back, and is ready to install. This engine is also getting the 3V windage tray and the larger pickup tube. The factory oil pan finishes it off but needed some adjustment before it went back on.
Please let me know if you have questions or comments below.

Been watching a bunch of stuff on your channel bud. Much appreciated! I actually took a 4.6l 2v engine out of a town car and threw it into my 1966 mustang on my channel. Lots of tips that I will be using on my own engine, likely starting with this oil pick up. Thanks man!

No problem. Let me know if you have any questions.
The windage/ oil pan gasket you showed does not fit the 2V.
The 4 valve tube seems to retain oil due to the bend , keeping it from having dry start ups, It looks like it to me anyway. The other one doesn’t have as aggressive bend so it will drain out completely changing the oil , again I can’t tell for sure at the angle of the video. Did however give me something to consider! 👍🏼
Can you remove the oil pump with the oil pan still on? I imagine so but getting to the pickup tube bolts can be tricky.

Yes, it can be removed without removing the oil pan. A ratcheting 8mm wrench makes it a lot easier to get to the pickup tube bolts.

@@JohnSmithRacing Hey thanks bud my timing covers got a leak and I'm doing all the maintenance required at 139k because I don't wanna have to do this again. Probably overkill but I believe it's reasonable @200$ for the timing kits gaskets and oil pump gears makes it worth going in and doing it. Thanks for the knowledge.
Hi sir, I just set the clearance on my nPI 4.6 2v, it had a bent pan and pickup so I replaced the pan and re-shimmed the pickup (no cracks or anything actually ran fine prior to disassembly). Anyway, being a little bit bent the pickup wasn't quite level. My final readings were 0.353 on the rear side of the pickup and 0.381 on the front-most side. Should this be fine?

Yes, it should be fine. I try not to be under 0.300
I like this mod. I've picked up so many tips from your channel. I'm rebuilding an aviator engine to put in a 2000 Mustang. I hit a snag when I purchased ARP main and rod bolts. The instructions say to line hone and round hone. So I am going to get Stock bolts for everything. Then I should be good? The block is honed (std) and crank is polished (std). Re-using the rods and pistons with Ford Std rings : according to Machine shop. Should I worry about the rod/piston bushing?

Most people will agree that using ARP fasteners does not require line or align honing of the mains. However, some will say that using ARP on factory rods may require machine work to the rods. I am currently running an engine in my 96 GTS that has factory rods and ARP bolts. I didn't do anything special to the rods and I have not had any problems. I beat on that engine regularly at the track too haha
John do recommend priming the oil pump before installing?
