99 Mustang GT with Nemak Part 5 - Filing Manley/Total Seal Piston Rings

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

One of the most critical steps in building an engine is filing the pistons rings. In this video I explain how I do it and what tools I use. If you plan on building more than one engine, I recommend purchasing a ring filing machine like the one I use in this video. It will speed up the process and help ensure that the gaps are parallel with each other after filing.

Id say porting heads is time consuming...mannive been in 8/10 hours a head...music and energy drinks plus a chest high bench and a good seat will make it easier on your back. Been there done that . I love building these engines! Im building a 5.4 2v on 8 thread heads . Getting it ready for boost .going in my 65 mustang

I have the 46620ST that I am using on a current build. I am finding that the upper and lower oil rings are running just at .030 or up to .032 (as you know, these are supposed to be .015 to .030 max). Bore is 3.572. In your experience, do you see these typically run this fat? What are your thoughts running these like this?

I have had them right at 0.030 and I have not seen it be an issue. I also wouldn't worry about 0,032.

Honest question...should you fit your rings with a torque plate installed? Very informative videos! They have helped me a lot.

You don't "need" to, in fact I have never seen anyone do it with torque plates installed.
