Im now 55 yrs and suffer with chronic constipation because of other challenges and 10 yrs ago for a bowel obstruction surgery where a sigmoid volvulus is. Gratefully being tested for colon cancer and the results was negative. Now if I don't help the process on, there doesn't happen anything although I do all the required: fruit and veg for fibre, exercising 5 days/ week, drink water. Well, I am calm about my health, and my life is in my Lord Gods' hands as HE gave already healed it, and HE KNOWS ALL!

When young my father never allowed us candy, soft drinks or other junk food. He buy us fruit when we were with him running around. My mother the same way. So I grew up eating lots of fruit. We had an orchard with oranges,, grapefruit, apples and grape vines, fig trees, mulberry trees and pecan trees on the ranch. We had so much fruit my father allowed people to pick some for themselves. He was blessed with lots of fruit and I guess our stomach was blessed without us knowing it. Now that we are all old and grown we still eat lots of fruit. My boys were raised eating lots of fruit also.

I'm 70 and we grew up on organic foods before they were the "flavor of the week". I eat an apple, orange or pineapple at least once a day.
In 1988 I had CML, I had a bone marrow transplant. I was totally healed. The Lord Jesus, really blessed me, I was from a family of 10. My youngest brother that my mom gave birth to, when she was 45. Gave me his bone marrow. My next to the oldest brother was a pharmacist at the hospital that mixed my chemo. There’s a lot of factors that lead to a healthy colon. I attribute this to the fact that I do not smoke or drink. And my diet since then has consisted of many of these fruits.

Amla is Indian Gooseberry. Triplala is an ayurvedic mainstay.
All fruits are good for colon health and general health for all the body. I have eaten fruit... only ... for three months continually and can attest to its benefits. Like lack of constipation... more energy... not being tired ... etc. I have a lot of fruit in my daily intake...am 65 now and not been sick for more than 10 years . Could that be proof enough? How do you get your protein? So you take a supplement?
Bromelin is the enzyme that causes your tongue to hurt after eating pineapple. Always eat fresh for the bromelin. Canned doesn't have it as the heat used in canning it kills it. And don't toss the core as it contains the most bromelin. It's tougher than the rest but it's great for smoothies
cooked broccoli/savoy cabbage/chard with shallots dressed with good helping olive oil & lemon or juiced cucumber with avocado & tablespoon cracked flaxseed, these are options for those who need or want to avoid sugars

Prunes, or dried plums as some prefer, are the easiest to keep on hand and eat without any preparation needed. And they work. I’m on pain medication for a degenerative spine condition. I eat 4-6 small prunes daily to avoid the constipation. If I skip them a few days, I can tell the difference and taking them again quickly sets things right.

Home made soup with no stock cubes or thickeners, using every vegetable that can be peeled (to remove pesticide/preservative on the skin) is absolutely wonderful. Making soup requires a bit of time and effort, but it is wonderful , especially if some of the vegetables are roasted with a little olive oil.

Often those who have eczema are sensitive to foods high in salicylates. If you have an eczema problem, it may be be best to avoid high and very high salicylate fruits. Some apples are high in salicylates like Jonathan and Granny Smith Apples. Avocado and Kiwi are high in Salicylates. Pineapple and oranges are very high in salicylates. Many of the berries are high or very high in salicylates. Sugar bananas are high in Salicylates. Regular bananas are only moderate in salicylates. Also, many fruits are high in carbs. If one has blood glucose control problems, it is best to avoid high carb fruits or eating too much of high carb fruits at one time. It is best to eat only small servings of high carb fruit with a one hour wait between servings. This helps to avoid high blood sugar spikes which in turn can lead to insulin spikes which is not good for one's health. Finally, fruit should be eaten only when the stomach is empty to avoid undesirable interactions of the faster digesting fruit with slower digesting other foods. This is why it is best to eat fruit as the first food after sleeping.
