LYRICS
"Take me home, country roads"
John Denver
Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, growin' like a breeze
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, Mountain Mama
Take me home, country roads
All my memories gather 'round her
Miner's lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrops in my eyes
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, Mountain Mama
Take me home, country roads
I hear her voice, in the mornin' hour she calls me
Radio reminds me of my home far away
Drivin' down the road, I get a feelin'
That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, Mountain Mama
Take me home, country roads, everybody sing
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, Mountain Mama
Take me home, country roads
Take me home down country roads
Take me home down country roads

I'm an old man nearing the end of his life. I've never liked this song until the last few months. Now I understand and respect the song for how beautiful and touching it is. How it embraces and celebrates rural America. The simplistic life of someone living in West Virginia. To hear all these people, and Germans no less, singing this song in English, brings a tear to my eye. I couldn't sing a song in German. But you have 75,000 people all together singing this beautiful song. Thank you to everyone who was there that night, to everyone there in spirit, those that passed on before they could be there and those that keep the beauty of this moment alive.

Not only Germans... this was an Event for all of Europe. Germany is more or less located in the center of Europe. So for example the distance between Madrid and Munich is roughly 120 miles shorter then Tampa-New York, or Boston-Buffalo is roughly Rome-Munich Seattle-San Francisco is Warsaw-Munich, Indianapolis-Minneapolis is Paris-Munich... I think you get the point! So the ticket sale was open to everyone in Europe and people came from all over to watch this game! Just shows what the NFL should do more often... dont you think?
I have been there. As I entered the stadium and saw all the people with all these different Football Jerseys, of any team you can think off. I was deeply touched. It was like the entire world came together to build a football nation. Never seen such an atmosphere before.

John Denver's worldwide popularity has long been something most Americans have never understood. I was on a business trip to India and was invited to a small social gathering at an Indian colleagues home. He was playing American music to please me, the only American at the party and he showed me one old battered cassette which held the John Denver cassette he was playing most of the time. The only John Denver music he had. He held it like it was a bar of gold or a religious icon it meant that much to him and how Denver's music represented so much of what he wanted to believe which was good about the world. Its not a cliche to say that John Denver is truly missed.

@@brandytvMUC Well, to be fair, there have been incidents from time to time at NFL and other American sporting events. Some people can get a bit too aggressive after drinking and start to use foul language even when there are children present. Luckily, there are a smal minority...at least at the games I have attended.

West virginia, take me home. Fantastic song
If you had asked Americans and Germans in 1943 (during the height of WW2) if they could imagine something like this happening... I doubt you would have had many ppl say "yes." Great example of how enemies can put differences aside when we all put peace and friendship above all else

At 13 I flew to Stuttgart to see my sister and brother in law. Spent a day or two in other countries and everyone was so nice. But the time I was in Stuttgart I met the most wonderful people in the world. Thank you Germany and your people for making my trip the best I've ever hard,

This would make John Denver smile big and bright. I heard a singer say once, that the best thing for a singer or band is to hear their fans singing their songs right with them. I’d like to think John was there too singing with them.
Goosebumps, teary eyes. Mein Gott. Wish I could be there to witness. This is incredible. And how lucky we are to have internet to share such moments at least on a web

Voice of pure men.
Wow. As an American, all I can say is I wish I'd been in that crowd, singing my heart out with 75,000 other people.
I’ve seen so many videos of people singing this at Oktoberfest lol Germans love this song
Fills me with joy to see and hear this. I am American to my very core. Would lay my life down for America. Well done Germany!
We need more events like this to bring the world together ✌🏻
A cold wonderful early evening in November with over 75.000 people coming together in Germany to celebrate. No masks, no violence. Just peace and enjoying the moment ❤️

I was there. That this song came while we (Bucs) had the winning play is a memory I will never forget. We ran into the seating area where we had no tickets laying in our arms while the camera from germany was behind us filming in slow motion. Our phones were dead and at home after hitting 4 bars we saw that half out relatives texted us with videos of that moment. Crazy night.

To Germany with love from America!!!
At first i thought Cool they are singing 'Country Roads by Jon Denver' in Tampa.... Then saw stadium lighting that Tampa DOES NOT have... The I saw the Germany Flag, saw 'Munich' on some of the sinage and THATS WHEN it HIT me that THIS was Played and Sang in Germany, and I swear, Tears began to form in my eyes because THIS simple song, can bring some many different cultures and races across the world and make people smile. That Was Friggin Awesome!!! ❤️❤️❤️ "🎵Take Me Home.."🕯️

With or without the music they're gonna finish that song. John Denver wrote one of the world's greatest and most well known songs. RIP brother
Sports unites us all.
Am I the only American that gets more emotional because it’s not in America ?? Seeing another country revere us like that is truly humbling and I’m a New Yorker as only to say cause this is John Denver West Virginia
Imagine if Americans loved our own country this much.
Watching this game for me was one of the most epic things I've seen in the NFL. I'm a Seahawks fan and even though we lost this one the vibe in that place just gave me feel good chills all over!
