I've just started a mostly carnivore keto diet thanks to you Dr Berry. I come from a farming area in the UK and one thing i noticed (which didn't make sense to me until watching you're stuff) is that there are loads of old farmers late 80's 90's around and their diet is basically butters, fats, meats, eggs, heavy creams. I guess it makes sense now, but back when i used to be eating my low cal granola i'd wonder how this old bloke made it to 90 as he's porking a gurt fryup lol.

Am carnivore, but been doing a stricter elimination diet to get rid of these remaining issues, and part of that has been trying to eliminate eggs, because as a child I was told I was allergic to eggs, but love them, and have enjoyed them all my life. Bought some higher quality eggs last week, and plan to try them. Done good eliminating cheese, but struggle with giving up coffee. This video helped a lot!! God bless you, Dr. Berry!! ❤🤗🤗🙏🙏🙏

Real vitamin A is retinol! Plants do not have retinol and our bodies poorly converts beta carotene into vit A. Vitamin A deficiency signs and symptoms: 1. Frequent infections 2. Dry skin scaly skin 3. Dandruff 4. Dry eyelid/dry eyes 5. Infertile 6. Stunted growth 7. Poor wound healing There are research links below. There’s a video with info on high rich foods in vitamin A listed in show notes.

👍 Thanks for sharing this. I can confirm what you say. I have always been a big eater of carrots and carrot juice, since I moved to another location I find very bad carrots in the shops and I eat less of them, but I still eat them in sufficient quantities and sometimes I also eat pumpkin. Small blisters appeared on the back of the arms (follicular keratosis) small bumps on the scalp. Reading your post and not knowing what dyshidrosis was, I went to google images. I recognized small bubbles (inexplicable to me) that appeared on the side of my index fingers and middle fingers that did not disappear even with creams. All these signs disappeared when I bought a bottle of liquid vitamin A. On the label it says to take 3 drops a day (1500 mcg/5000 IU) I only take one drop (rarely two) all those marks on my arms, fingers and scalp have disappeared. I bought Vitamin A for other reasons and now I find that it is responsible for the improvement. As the video says, not everyone converts beta-carotene in the same way and as we age, the body's conversions lose effectiveness. I bought vitamin A because I read that a small amount is necessary for vitamin D and vitamin K2 to work well.

Wow, all the symptoms of low vitamin A are also the symptoms of having too much vitamin A. I ate less vitamin A and my night vision improved, and I lost weight, and I had no allergies or runny nose whatsoever for the month I was on low vitamin A. I also learned that coming off a low vitamin A diet with a pizza has caused me to have a horribly runny nose and sneezing. I feel like it's the cheese because I have the same reaction to ice cream now. I never noticed it until getting off vitamin A foods (no pork, no dairy, no eggs, no fish, no liver/organs (which I never ate anyway) no rainbow vegetables, no colorful fruit). Just eating mainly beef, beans, and rice, meat-heavy, I had no allergies of any kind. As soon as I eat pizza, I'm making snot like a fountain. It's happened five separate times. I would have never known it if I hadn't done this with food. Dairy with a sauce made from nightshades. Seems more like a toxicity reaction than an allergy.

Early this year my eye doctor diagnosed me with MGD (meibomian gland disorder). She recommended that I eat more healthy fats and recommended eggs and flax. Given I am keto, I already eat a large amount of healthy fats and eggs are high in the list of stuff I eat all the time. About a month earlier I had talked my GP into adding Vit D and B12 tests (for reasons I won't get into here) and my Vit D level had come in just below the normal range. My GP didn't think it was a problem and left things there. So after my eye doctor appointment I was looking into the various options. flax seed oil was highly touted, but the Omega3 fats in that are ALA, and the body doesn't convert those very well, so I really didn't see its benefit over any other kind of fat. I decided to go with cod liver oil both for the healthy fats and the Vit D boost. (I live in Seattle, we can go months without seeing the sun.) And within a month starting cod liver oil my eyes felt so much better. No stinging, no burning. A few months months ago I ran out of cod liver oil and was too lazy to reorder right away (was trying and failing to find it locally in stores). And I noticed my dry, itchy and burning eyes came right back. Eventually got more cod liver oil and started to take it daily again. And my eyes went back to good, or at least much much better. I wonder if its at least partially the Vit A in the cod liver oil. 1tsp contains a little over 100% of the daily recommended amount and in a form our bodies like and can make use. I also noticed that my energy levels are noticeably higher when I take it compared to not taking it. Wonder if that's the vit-D. Back during the second world war, my grandmother had a cow. So she would trade her family's rations of milk and butter with other families for their cod liver oil. Smart woman.

@@gskyle4822 Oh my, what a disappointment. Thank you for sharing that. I had not noticed the reformulation. It now contains not just one ingredient, but three (cod liver oil, Retinyl Palmitate (synthetic vitamin A) and Cholecaliferol (vitamin D3, typically extracted from lanolin). I wish they had stuck to the unadulterated formulation. I prefer to eat liver for vitamin A, and want my intake of synthetic vitamin D3 to be limited to the Winter, and for the dosage to be entirely under my control. The merit of this cod liver oil is that it is made without the use of solvents. It is lab tested for heavy metals. And, it doesn't have a rancid taste or odor which is common in the big brands. I tolerate this cod liver oil well. I wish they had not reformulated it. Have you found a suitable alternative that is unadulterated and doesn't cost stupid money? At least the dosage of these two vitamins is not preposterous, as they are in some competitors.

Read Good Calories, Bad Calories by Gary Taubes. It doesn't have all the latest research, as written a few years ago, but it is basically a book about the history of nutritional science. It is a bit of a hard read, but it will really help you understand what went wrong. Another thing to understand is how much Adventist have controlled nutritional science. The American Nutritional Society is Adventist. Kellogg and Post, think big grain, are Adventist. Big grain means big money. The Adventist beleive that eating animal products causes masterbation which causes all the ills of the world. So basically you have a crazy religious belief combined with massive profits controlling most nutritional studies. Remember, these are the people that have convinced the world that eating oil designed for motors and oil lamps is healthy.

  • @MrApplewine

Chris masterjohn says that this vitamin A is not a vitamin stuff is total insanity. I will say that you will be vitamin D deficient if you are not taking 150-300mcg of vitamin D3 per day and if you start eating liver or getting adequate vitamin A you may get bad side effects. This may be interpretted as vitamin A toxicity because vitamin A antagonizes vitamin D. Nutrition with Judy has a woman on talking about how she ate liver on carnivore and got these horrible results. She did not mention every taking vitamin D though, so I suspect that is the cause.

I was hoping leg/foot cramps because I can't pinpoint the reason. Instead I got a Wow when he said 3 of the symptoms I do have. If you are reading this I get lots of Sodium, tried adding Magnesium doesn't make a difference, Potassium makes it worse. When I'm eating bad carbs, pizza candy soda ect., no cramps. They only happen when on Carnivore starting about day 2 to my longest stretch 2 weeks. I like how I feel on Carnivore but those cramps can wake me out of deep sleep and they come randomly at least once a day. Always one of my feet or calf forcing me to stand fast and do the calf stretch till it stops never more than a minute long. Long hard work day seems increase the chance of getting one. I'm going to see if you have a cramp video maybe I'll find my answer there. I don't know maybe I need more time to adapt to Carnivore, my goal is 30 days then go from there. I do OMAD too so maybe adding another eat time might help.

There's an entire political party scoffing at science and environmentalism and tearing down environmental regulation. Not to get political, but sometimes we have to. Vote out Republicans and conservative Democrats and find good progressive candidates that support the environment. Meat can be raised sustainably and humanely if we put strong rules into place. Many plant based crops are not good for the environment either.
