7 Lucious Lemon Desserts - Lemon Meringue, Lemon Cream pie, Lemon Bars, Lemon Lush and more! Great for Summertime
DO YOU REMEMBER that good old southern cooking?
When I was growing up, my granny was my favorite cook. My mama was also a fantastic cook, but there was just something about being in granny’s kitchen. We all gathered around the table when we went to her house. I have made it easy for you to learn how to cook like my granny and mama did with cooking tutorials for every recipe in our cookbooks. You can see how to order these by visiting us on our website. Oh, and no difficult-to-find or crazy ingredients! Just simple ingredients and delicious food. I am a Southern girl born and raised in Collard Valley in Polk County, Georgia. We went to church on Sunday, school during the week, and the grocery store on Friday, and that was our life: no vacations, no camping, just plain old southern country people.

Lemon Lush (Vol. 4 Cookbook Recipe)
1ST LAYER IS BOTTOM CRUST:
1 CUP ALL-PURPOSE FLOUR
1/2 - 1 CUP PECANS (CHOPPED)
1 STICK BUTTER (ROOM TEMP)
Mix above ingredients. Place in a 2.75 qt. baking dish or a 13”x9”x2”. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 min, until golden brown around the edges. Take out and cool.
2ND LAYER:
8 OZ. CREAM CHEESE (ROOM TEMP)
1 CUP POWDERED SUGAR
8 OZ. TUB WHIPPED TOPPING
1 LEMON (ZEST IS OPTIONAL)
Mix cream cheese & sugar together until creamy, then add 1 cup of whipped topping- mix well. Layer on bottom crust. Zest your lemon over this cream cheese layer. (Reserve zest for topping) TOP LAYER IS PUDDING LAYER:
2 3.5 OZ BOXES LEMON INSTANT PUDDING MIX
3 CUPS MILK JUICE OF ONE LEMON (OPTIONAL)
Mix pudding with milk. Add lemon juice and mix. pour pudding over the cream cheese layer, then top with rest of whipped topping. Garnish top with lemon zest.

Omgosh Tammy, I love all things lemon. It's almost 1 am. and when you turned on that whisk and it flung the pudding on you, I about choked on my water. I laughed so hard! Of course I played it back a few times. Thanks for the giggles and not editing that out.
Hey Tammy! I love everything Lemon My sister-in-law gave me this lemon lush recipe 23 years ago and I would often take it to Church until another member asked me for the recipe then she started bringing it so I haven’t made it in a while but I think it’s time to start back 😊❤

I agree with your husband, Gooey Butter Cake originated in St. Louis where they have the best German bakeries. I lived in Kansas City and loved for my in-laws from St. Louis to come visit because they always brought Gooey Butter Cake. Can't wait to try your recipe using a pound cake mix.

Tammy I'm unable to post a comment to your lemon recipes. Something is very wrong. Can you make Banana Cookies Sugar Free? And Élvis Presleys Peanut Butter Banana Grilled Sandwiches? Grill them like you grill your grilled cheese sandwiches!!! Yum and can you make a Banana Coconut Cream Pie and Banana Coconut Cream Cake?

Tammy, next time you make a gooey butter cake, press the crust into your pan with a gloved hand. It's a game changer! So much easier than trying to spread it with a spatula.
I went to Paula Deen's restaurant in Myrtle Beach and the food was beyond delicious, but the gooey butter cake was too rich for my northern stomach. It was scrumptious but too rich for me..

Your gooey buttercake.. I see you have margarine on your worktop, did you use margarine or butter & if margarine, why? Does it make a difference?

7266 I am not knocking Paula Dean cause she have good recipes but she showed a recipe for not your mama s banana pudding that thing was so sweet it would make your teeth hurt I had to throw it out

You may have misread the recipe or been using one with a mistake in it. When her show first began showing lots of reruns all the time our local Publix supermarket could never keep Pepperidge Farm Chessmen cookies in stock because so many people were buying them to make that recipe. They are absolutely necessary for that recipe. Did you use those? it has sweeten condensed milk which gives it the sweetness so it is very rich and it’s not intended to be consumed in large quantities. Also she definitely calls for whipped cream not whipped topping which is made out of artificial ingredients with sugar in it. That was definitely her most requested recipe ever and tremendously boosted the sales of chessman cookies. I have always given Pauladean lots of credibility for the fact that she uses whip cream and really does not care for artificial whipped topping. My major difference with Tammy is she uses Cool Whip and frozen pie crust or refrigerated pie crust. A pie deserves to have a good homemade pie crust. If you don’t know how to make a good pie crust do you need to learn if you’re going to be teaching other people how to cook. She can make plenty of elaborately decorated cakes and biscuits of all variants and yet she claims not to like to do her own pie crust. It just doesn’t make any sense. Do your research and find the original recipe for Paula’s banana pudding and remake it, please.
