Great stuff and thanks for the nostalgia trip: I last saw her up close and personal at Ashchurch almost 40 years ago. If I'd been at home near Bristol, instead of 6,000 miles away, I'd have certainly gone to see her. She and her sisters (and the Duchesses, etc) were all old friends, as I was brought up living only feet away, quite literally, from the west coast main line. To the person who thinks that there is GWR influence in her design, wasn't William Stanier a drawing office apprentice at Swindon in the days of Churchward and Collett? If only the Kings had had a -2 added to the 4-6-0: they were great locos, but would have looked that bit better proportioned as Pacifics.

Thank you Graham , 6201 is beautiful locomotive and sounds tremendous . Sir William was works manager at Swindon from 1920 to 1931 . David

Actually, it must have well over 43 years ago that I saw her in steam at Ashchurch. My wife and I drove down from Nuneaton early one Sunday morning before we had the kids (my daughter is 43 now). In 2001, I had a return trip to/from Glasgow over Shap and Beattock and, of course, electric traction made light work of the gradients. However, I did think about what the LMS Pacifics would have made of them: your video has now given me some idea.

PS I recall that, many years ago, in one of the railway magazines, there was a debate about why the GWR never had Pacifics. There was even an artist's impression of a King as a Pacific: it (or should I say 'she', despite the 'King' title?) looked remarkably like a Princess.

Yeah the GWR locos have the power and strength but the LMS had some pretty good locos. Take the black 5. Brilliant class!

The added sound of the exhaust doesn’t match the true exhaust sound. Fake sound added in some scenes. On steam engines there always 4 exhaust blasts per turn of the driver wheels when under power. These exhaust blasts don’t match the speed of the wheels turning fast in some scenes.

I can assure you that there is no added sound on this video and I wouldn't have the faintest idea how to do it anyway ! I would encourage you to look at other videos of the locomotive recorded at the same location on the same day , there was a lot of people there .

GC Met I believe You didn’t add the slow exhaust sounds, but they exist in later scenes. 4 blast per turn of drivers under load, you can see the wheels spinning fast with slow speed sounds.

@@Wildmere1 The sounds you can hear in the last two clips are because the the driver has the cylinder cocks open and you can the see the steam coming from the cylinders in time with that sound , the sound from the loco exhaust would much quieter at speed as the loco is not working as hard , also the sound from the cylinder cocks is drowning out that sound . I repeat I have not changed any sounds .

GC Met ar 5:01 the cylinder cocks you see are only half of the exhaust on one side only, the exhaust blasts are double what you see on one side only. If you turn up the volume you can hear the real sound of the engine at speed
