The most beautiful Corvette ever made. Said by a Ford guy, i.e. me. I would only add a Panhard bar.

Great looking build, like the silver but LOVE Roman Red, '62 Vette and Roman Red were meant for each other. Roman Red the ultimate red, who ever first mixed it up should be in the Auto Paint Hall of Fame.

I can see doing a restomod to a rough neglected Vette, but this was a clean, nice original car. This is criminal to do this to such a beauty. Shame on you!

We respect your opinion, and you are of course entitled to it. We like both factory correct and custom cars, and ultimately we are for whatever keeps people interested in driving them. These days, people seem to want something that they can reliably drive when they have a spare moment and not have their afternoon plans ruined by a car that won't start or run well. When you consider the fact that the average Kia these days is faster and handles better than many performance oriented classics as they were originally equipped, you are going to see more and more modern performance parts added to classics as the performance demands of drivers are raised. The donor car that we used was a good quality driver, not without its needs (everything looks nicer on TV), but a non-original driveline 1962, which is the highest production and probably least desirable C1: a very cool, but altogether non-remarkable car. At the end of the day, the frame, suspension, driveline (non-matching), and many of the parts from our donor all went towards a factory correct restoration of another '62 that was in just the state you describe. One of our responsibilities when approaching a build is to advise our customers on the best way to use the money that they have budgeted. Everyone wants to see a car resurrected from shambles to its former glory, but not many people want to foot the bill or put in the man hours themselves to do it. This is and will continue to be an ongoing argument in our hobby - I doubt Model A purists felt great about hot rodders shoehorning in Chevy 350's, but this has ultimately become an accepted and celebrated practice in the collector car world. There will always be a place for factory correct cars, but I don't see builds of this type going anywhere anytime soon.

As the former owner of a 1962 Corvette which earned an NCRS National Top Flight and Bloomington Gold awards I feel I have some standing in this argument. I agree with everything said by Classic Car Studio. In the end it is the cars owner that has the final say on what to do with the car. I can tell you that after taking a nice original engine 340 horse 1962 car through the restoration process I sold the car for about what it cost me. This is with me doing most of the restoration work. If I had taken a non original car and done a restomod I would have probably sold it for twice what my restored car brought. His point about model As with 350s is well taken. People want reliability, comfort and performance. The popularity of restomod Corvettes is growing. If I do another Corvette it will be a restomod.

Totally agree with you. Every time someone does this there’s one less original left. It’s an infinite number.

Why do this remodel to an already excellent condition car? Should have started the mod with a fair condition and sold the excellent condition.

Not excellent condition, but a good driver. Every car l looks nice in pictures / video than real life and everyone wants to start a project with a scrap heap unless they’re the one paying for it. Era correct (non original) driveline and chassis went to a stock restoration that has a rusted out frame, as did the interior and other bits we didn’t need, so balance was restored to the universe.

if you are going to get a new chassis, engine, trans, rearend etc... AND do a bunch of glass work, AND do a color change, why would you start with such a clean complete car? perhaps a case of the customer is always right, even when they are wrong. sell the clean car and buy a body...

Certainly understand the sentiment. Projects on the show were subject to time constraints that we normally don’t have to work under… it was decided a complete car without major existing needs would streamline a few things. Client understood this. Rolling chassis and driveline were sold for the client to a guy doing a factory correct restoration on a car that had a rotted frame, so we’re net 0 there. Interior went to a similar project.
