Every time I see this video I realize and understand a little more. Derek is clearly a master of his craft.

Perfect timing. I just had my quarterly CIT class. They did this scenario. I have been listening to this channel and on my second listen to Chris's book. I was the fifth student to go. I got my instructor to actually toss me his car key. The class was shocked, as was I. Thanks, Blackwater.

I love the 60 Seconds or She Dies segments. All I think about is how I would fare while in the same position

I tried to be a co-negotiator with all three of them, but the tonality really affects your state of mind. It did however help, in retrospect, to see what I missed and could've added. Also it added more questions on the use of the techniques and I'm definitely rewatching the videos and rereading the book a couple of times. Really just great stuff

I've watch this a couple times & I finally have a major insight but I can use for my own business. Stop asking irrelevant or out of context questions just to try and build rapport. It seems to actually have the opposite effect. I'm not saying I could do any better. However when the guy said where are you going to go I almost fell off my chair. My sarcastic answer is.... I'm going to go to Disneyland. LOL Thank God that these guys aren't actual police 🚨 negotiators.

During the assertive voice, the only thing I felt like doing was threatening him, in an assertive way, then i realized i could label the threat to sound less assertive 😊

But... what do you think will happen to you if you Kill her? I really want to save everybody... You are included... You know that you have already transgred the law and that, for itself, have consecuences... but you can get them worse if you complicate the situation with every second that is passing by... And... if you kill her... you will be killing yourself... Is that what you want?... So, you have 30 seconds to die if you continue with this plan... really want to go ahead? I'm ready...

Think about the consequences of your actions. You can still make the right choice and turn yourself in. I'm willing to help you, but you need to make the first step. Kidnapper: Are you kidding me? You think I'm joking? Me: I'm not taking this lightly, and neither should you. What do you think will happen if you kill her? You will be caught, and you will face severe consequences. But if you surrender now, you may have a chance for a better outcome. Kidnapper: Yes, I'm going to kill her! What are you going to do now? Me: Before you do anything, let's talk. Why did you rob the bank? Is there something else going on in your life that led you to this situation? I want to understand and help you, but I need you to cooperate. Kidnapper: I don't want to talk. Me: Please, just give me a chance to help you. Killing her won't solve anything, and it will only make things worse. You don't have to do this.

if you rob a bank and get caught, you're not getting out of it, its your choice whether you want to do 5 years in prison or spend the rest of your life. You pick, make it easier for me so I make it easier for you.

I can go live on KZread and kill one hostage every 10 minutes because the SWAT don't wanna help me getting out of the bank peacefully. C'mon Pussy-William, bring me the SWAT vehicle full of gas in less than 9 minutes or I will get the rest of my life without parole!
