This is Cindy’s husband………. I made the mistake of not doing everything possible before I rushed into surgery. I had both knees replaced the same day. Everything was great for the next three years. Then out of nowhere, my right knee developed an infection, a very stubborn infection. In fact it took a team of specialists and 2 and a half years and 3 different replacement knees and intravenous antibiotics to remedy the knee infection! I can’t walk normally and the knee looks like something from “Elephant man”. I wish I could go back 10 years and say to my orthopedic doctor, “No I don’t want your damn knee replacement, I’ll put up with the pain til Will gets old enough to help me in the year 2023!!!

@@pitchkapizda8355I am in the same spot, decided that I will do three one week apart PRP treatments, strengthening of the glutes, non-weight bearing cardio, good diet and supplement regimen. Going to try and do that and see if I can kick the knee replacement surgery can way down the road. Too many horror stories like this out there like this one.

In short, If you have knee pain, giving way, resting pain ,night pain, deformity , go for physiotherapist advice and treatment first. If degeneration and deformity is in early stage and reversible, conservative treatment first. If it is in late stage, not improved with conservative treatments , go for surgery.

Even if problems are not reversible, surgery is planned, one would still be benefited by physio’s advice and exercises. To upgrade the muscle power means it take shorter time to rehab.

Went through all your videos finding them very informative. I had both knees replaced and it went well except getting up from the floor so I started exercises from your other video. However I developed one other problem after the surgery and that is poor posture. I noticed you never covered that. Would like to see a video for that.

Hello Dr My mother is 62 years old and is weighing around 140 kg. She is suffering from acute knee pain. I have seen many doctors and all keep saying to loose weight. Now i was thinking for knee replacement but not sure whether its a good option considering her weight. Can you please help

There are some doctors who refuse to do knee replacement for people who are very overweight. The thinking is that they will require a replacement of the replacement in 5-10 years due to the weight. Even normal weight people can only expect a 10-15 year replacement life. You can only do so many replacements, each new one adds additional risks.

Well unfortunately i actually hit all 6 you have given. I am at the end of my rope. Its a long story but i been dealing with bad knees since 12 years old. 49 now and can barely walk. But struggling to get a doctor that will help. 5 surgeries on right knee and 3 on left knee. Left knee is bowed out my lower leg and knee shifted inward. My foot standing up then just shift and lift foot off the ground the foot is turned outward. And now when i sweep knee straight to bent my foot rotates almost 90 degrees outward when knee is bent. Knee joint is deformed and has happened over last 6 months. Right knee just had 5th surgery in July to fix torn medial meniscus and prosterior horn. Been in physical theropy since and its not improving at all. Then at Thanksgiving it suddenly went bad and now at this point its starting to take on the same shape as left knee. The knee shifts in but the tibia of shin are starting to bow out. Foot is still straight on this right side though. Pain is so bad in right knee i wake up to burning throbbing pain every 40 minutes or so. I have yo use a walker to go any distance and crutches to get up in the morning. Having trouble getting doctors yo help. I been dealing with this for many years over 25 bad problems. I am scared to do replacement although i know i am there. Gel one injections for last 8 years and they do help with the left amazingly enough with the deformed knee. Takes the edge off. But right knee the last 2 have not helped. I actually think it flares it up worse. I had my last gel one injections in November. And thats when right knee started getting worse. This is a very long story snd i have tried everything available. And not just once but several times on most everything. So frustrated eith doctors its incredible. Knees are clearly messed up bad. Visual from the outside if i wear shorts people will actually make comments. Whats wrong with your knees? I have x-rays and scope pictures from 2001 surgery showing bone on bone and micro fracture on the end of the femur to grow scar tissue to help. Which it did and got me through. Arthritis is bad looks like a cheese graded went through my knee inside. Yet doctor sat there and tells me that no gap is bad. Ok i know this already been dealing with it my whole life. X-ray shows plain as day there is no gap in right knee and thin on left. Says he thinks its not to bad though.....i say not yo bad you just said no gap is bad. Remember clear back in 2001 they drilled the fenur cause it had a half dollar size lesion or open bone. But its not that bad. I point to the no gap. He says it just looks that way cause he thinks they took the x-ray at a slight angle making it look like no gap. Holy moly you are kidding me right. No he says try gel one again see if that helps. Says i got to kick the can down the pervibeal rode a bit longer. I dont know what to do. The entire story is way to much yo type out here. But i am in a bad place with knees right now. And i dont know what to do. 2 to 3 months down and worse pain ever of my life they say. And replacement doctor tells me 2nd vist full knee will be pain free. 3rd visit says it does not look that bad and if we do it to early pain might not go away at all. ? What? You said i would be pain free. Now it may not take away the pain because i am 49? Yes if we fo it yo early pain can remain. What? None of this makes any sense? So i got to put the hurt to myself on a knee replacement that may not help? This is all rediculous. What in the world do i do?😮

Just had one 10 weeks ago, best decision, a big one to make, I’m now able to walk my dog without horrendous pain, life is too short to suffer unnecessarily. Try everything thing else first but don’t be scared to do this. Find a good surgeon and get your life back 😊
