04:00 I finally have answer to the famous old tongue twister. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck would chuck wood? None at all if he has an encounter with 140 gr ELD. The next thing in his mind is the old advertisment - "I have a headache. And it has Excedrin written all over it."

Good stuff guys. I think the 140gr eld-m were just passing through the chucks and the 123grn were running a lot faster than the 140 therefore more explosive. I think the heavier bullets would be better on the bigger animals. They still do the job though. Great video. :-)

I like the magnum rim fires as well. My first and only one is a 17.wsm bmag I’ve upgraded the stock and done some work to make it a tack driver. It’s my favorite caliber by far for medium game like groundhogs and raccoons. Squirrels don’t much like it either. I’ve shot it out to 400 on steel with surprisingly good results I feel it’s a 300yard gun for medium game though if it’s calm.

I enjoy watching this channel and appreciate the content you guys put out. Eric’s commentary was priceless at the first part of this video. Garret talking about range and whether the camera ready, Eric’s like just shoot already. Good stuff. If you haven’t tried win 760 powder with the 130 gr and higher 6.5 bullets I highly recommend it for velocity and accuracy. In two different 6.5 creedmoor rifles I have used it in it’s been great. Obviously H4350 is excellent but I was able to get 130 gr tipped game kings to average a little over 3000 FPS in a 25” barrel using 45 grains of the w760. 3 shot groups sub 1/2 moa at 100.

Gotta get that velocity up! Your leaving atleast 200 fps on the table. That bullet at 2800 fps will open chucks up! Its heavy for caliber, it needs velocity to open. The 123 takes alot less velocity because its probably considered light for caliber. We've shot a bunch of wood chucks with that 140 and we've never had them not blow big holes. Same with deer too! Big fan of the 140 eld-m from long range target to deer/bear.

Not sure if y’all know this l, but the 123eld is not like other elds. Unlike the 140 Eld, the 123 Eld actually has an interlock ring which makes it hold together like a sst round. I learned this from doing research when shooting the 123g Eld in 6.5 grendel. Supposedly they were having issues with the 123eld separating in flight which is why they added the interlock ring. I’ve used it to take many hogs and it acts just like a 123sst round.

Awesome video! Very productive fields this year. As to the lack of expansion, do you think maybe using ELD-X bullets would work better? The cavity is supposed to be larger with a thinner jacket. Maybe that plus a little more speed might help?

A box of Match by Hornady is about 1.60$ a round. We can load 6.5CM under .60$ a round fairly easily, not counting the price for good brass. Peterson and Lapua brass are great, but are about 1$ a case. However you get to reuse them a number of times, so well worth it.
