Danny and I are both fellas who grew up with the Lord of the Rings, and dragonlance, and dealing with dragons... Okay maybe that last one was a girls book. "Jet Set Willy" and "Horace Goes Skiing" were actually well-regarded at the time - "Jet Set Willy" in particular; "Horace Goes Skiing" was a mixture of Frogger and a basic skiing game. I wouldn't recommend going and playing them now or you'll give those of us old enough to remember them a really suspicious look and then never listen to our opinions again because there is no way they've held up.

I never really found Horace series any good. There were many other games that were better like Pssst!, Jet Pac, Manic Miner, Jack the Nipper, Spy Hunter and basically anything from Ultimate. Renegade was also great on the Spectrum...

I live in the same city as Jordan Mechner, the guy that created Prince of Persia!! he comes into my coffee shop all the time. He's a great guy!!

I'm glad Danny has fond memories of the Spectrum, Jet Set Willy is amazing and gave me SO many nightmares as a kid. Also, Spectrum games sounded like an extended mix of the dial-up sound when loading and probably rewired brains.

That VR Gameboy thing really needed a Star Trek game where you're playing through the bridge scanner scope.

The "making of Prince of Persia" movie was really amazing from an old-school tech/programming standpoint. I think it was an Arstechnica thing.

This is making me want to pull out my original Nintendo. Though it's not MY original Nintendo that I got add a child, my sister stole that one and claims it's not the one I got at age 7. But somehow the only games she has for it are the exact games I had, including QBert. My husband bought me the one i currently have when we started dating, and I've been trying to rebuild my game collection. I also had a Commador 64, but unlike Danny I just played "Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?" I wish I'd thought to run a dating service on it. We also had an original Atari, and all I remember playing on it was that the ET game that was just horrible. We also had Gameboys. My parents had zero problems with us playing video games, and sometimes liked to join in, or would steal our games for themselves. A few years ago my mom gave away all the Commador and the Atari. Gave away. I was not happy, and nor was she when she learned how much they were worth.

LOVE that his TV is perched with each end slightly off the edge of the table, EXACTLY LIKE MINE. Glad to know I'm not the only one flirting with disaster. Also, I did appreciate that sponsor content.

For the next Epic Blaze, I recommend that Simon should do an episode on this OG but obscure channel that not many people have heard of (allegedly), called Business Blaze; and how it gradually became more and more off the walls bonkers the longer it carried on. And how it was definitely not fueld by cocaine!

I want a video on Sleepy's which rose as Mattress Discounters and now as Mattress Firm. There may have been other iterations, but the way the company changes faces is concerning. Did they go bankrupt? Are they avoiding legal troubles? It's just weird and perhaps interesting.

Simon’s a couple months younger than me, and the first system I had was actually an NES inherited from my older cousins, but I still had a Genesis not too long after it released. That could be my American privilege though, judging by some of the comments here.

During one of my fan films, we used my friend's commodore 64 game monitor and keyboard as the shuttle cockpit console in a laundry room in 1992. Ha.

In my experience full body tracking goes a long way to reducing motion sickness in VR, granted full body vr tracking is still expensive as all hell.

The first time we came to the US we moved into a small house that had more bedrooms than people to sleep in them. In one of those enjoy bedrooms was a television set and attached to it was a MAGNAVOX ODYSSEY 2. We were so excited to find it! We spent every washing hit after school taking turn playing space invaders, some weird version of Pac Man, the Olympics, and I can't remember the rest because I rarely played them.

My sister had all of the Finding Nemo toys from McDonald's. The kids played with them in the bathtub and so would get full of water and short out. The Dory kept making whale noises in the middle of the night and they thought their house was haunted.🤣
