Two decades ago, in my college days, I was taking sales and marketing classes. I had just taken a bunch of psychology classes before and noticed a disturbing trend in how America was teaching people to manipulate others then giving them the defense mechanism to cope with their guilt and dishonesty. They called it "uncovering hidden needs" when it was simple up-selling. I was horrified and asked my teacher if she was concerned about the impact this philosophy would have on our society. Time has passed, we have split into two cognitive realities in America. It looks likely that civil unrest could become a war. America is what you get when there is freedom without social responsibility. When education is inadequate, and we are either a consumer or a preditory snake oil salesmen. Your friends from the past suddenly find you, but only want to unload their pyramid scheme products that are filling their garage. Half the US is crazy, desperate, misguided or misinformed. Critical thinkers don't make great consumers, so it is frowned upon. This is just my theory on why America seems so different from most other countries in the world. We're kind of like a social experiment in progress.

For those to lazy to google, the mayo clinic has this to say: If you swallow gum, it's true that your body can't digest it. But the gum doesn't stay in your stomach. It moves relatively intact through your digestive system and is excreted in your stool. On very rare occasions, large amounts of swallowed gum combined with constipation have blocked intestines in children. It's for this reason that frequent swallowing of chewing gum should be discouraged, especially in children.

As someone who was a team leader for a supermarket bakery. I'm on the side of the plaintiff here, they are advertising a 12inch subway, not a subway that weighs X amount of grams. Petty yes but you legally can't undersell a product, only oversell it. If the dimensions don't relate to what is advertised, then the product is void. Hence why we see "broken biscuits" being a new thing as it massively reduces the wastage that wasnt of a quality of what was advertised, same with wonky veg. It's a straight up subway fail.

While Vitamin C will not cure the common cold, taking enough of it will suppress the symptoms. Where "enough of it" is at the rate of 1 g/hr (that's 1,000mg/hr) until you reach bowel tolerance threshold. Then step down to 1g/ 2hrs. Note that suppresses symptoms only. It still takes your body's immune system 1 week to overcome the virus. People's bowel tolerance level can vary wildly from 5g/day to 30g/day. Also what was the dose in those studies that said vit. C does nothing? If it was the RDA of 60mg/day, that dose just prevents scurvy, nothing more.

I remember this one episode of Zack and Cody (can't remember if it was suite life or on deck) where some adult had to go back to school and one of the twins saw his lunch and said 'two five dollar foot longs?' and he just said 'actually they're eleven'.

You would think companies would employ, I don't know, some legal expert to see 'Hey, are we gonna get sued for this?' before undertaking an ad campaign.

*pulls collar* "I get no respect, no respect, I tells ya. When my wife and I were undressing for our honeymoon night, my wife suddenly got angry and called me 'Subway!' I asked her, 'What gives?' She says, 'you lied about your length, and the quality of the meat is terrible!' I says to her, I says, 'Baby, you never complained before!' She says to me, 'yeah, but before, I swore I'd never eat at a Subway.' No respect, no respect at all!" - My tribute to Rodney Dangerfield. RIP.
