Agree. Whenever I wear something white it gets dirty within a day. It's like i'm cursed or something.

"Fifty Caliber" merely means "Half an inch diameter bullet" The bullet is the bit that flys about poking holes in things. Not all "Fifty Calibers" are created equal. The "Fifty Caliber" that Simeon is thinking of is very likely the .50 BMG (Browning Machine Gun), and it certainly is a BEAST of a round with the bullet being pushed about by TEN TIMES the powder than a .223. The .223 bullet weights about 4 grams, while the .50 BMG weighs a massive 50 grams! (well, massive for a bullet anyway) And now for a Bonus Fact: If you ever wondered what "Gauge" meant in a shotgun, as in a 12 gauge, the number is how many spheres of lead the same diameter of the barrel it would take to equal one pound. Consider that while realizing that the largest commonly made was a two-gauge gun.

Absolutely true but the gauge does go higher as this measurement comes from the age of cannons with 12 pounder, 18 pounder etc... describing the weight of the cannonball. While you used grams, I think its interesting that bullets and broadheads are still measured in grains which I believe simon read from the script. 1 pound is 16 ounces, 1 ounce is 28.35 grams, and 1 gram is 15.4 grains

@Fred Smith In theory, you're correct, you could just keep going to as large or as small a gauge you want since it's defined as a formula, but I don't think anyone has ever used the term gauge beyond the 2-gauge, possibly a 1-gauge. Once the guns started taking 2 pound projectiles, everyone just started to referring to the actual weight, as you said, a 12-pound gun, partly because you'd be calling it a "One-Sixth Gauge" (or whatever) gun, and that is easily confused with a 6-gauge gun. That way lies confusion and arguments over what was ordered. It's also the difference between hunting Bambi with a shotgun and a cannon.

The 50 Cal that Simon is referring to is most likely a .50 BMG anti-material rifle round.There are an assortment of different 50 cal rounds, including those made for pistols or smaller rifles including the .50 Beowulf rifle round, or the .50 AE (Action Express) of Desert Eagle fame . - An American, and therefor intrinsically an expert on all things gun.

Yeah. .50 cal refers to the diameter of the bullet, .5 inches, or 1.27 cm. You can find various types of ammunition in .50 cal, including pistol and rifle rounds. The ammunition for a .50 cal machine gun or sniper rifle is quite impressive, being around 5-6 inches(12-15 cm) long with the bullet itself being around 2.5 inches(6 cm). Yep. To add for non-Americans, 50 cal simply refers to the diameter of the bullet, which is often an approximation. There are many cartridges with the same diameter bullet, but different case lengths, etc.

American here: The caliber is just how big around the barrel is. Pistol rounds can be much shorter and fatter than rifle rounds. A similar caliber rifle round will have much more black powder than the same caliber revolver round. You'd be shocked how stout of a bullet a revolver can fire out though. Many of them kick so hard, it will break your thumb if you don't know how to hold it.

Modern cartridges do not use black powder. Only old muzzle loaders and recreations use black powder. But other than that I have fired the S&W 500 magnum and I have seen it make a man's hand bleed from the grip moving in his hand while recoiling.

I fired a .50 desert Eagle at a shooting range in Estonia, i only fired two rounds but it makes you realise that movies are full of shit, there's no way an average person could shoot that thing one handed, absolute cannon. Is the .50AE the round they use in the Desert Eagle?

Regarding the ipod shuffle: I completely understand your perfectly valid criticism of the concept of an ipod shuffle. I had one, and loved it, and the reason I had a shuffle rather than an ipod nano or touch is that I am about 8 years younger than you (Simon), meaning that I was in middle school when ipods were at their peak (though they were still everywhere when I was in high school too). I didn't have a job yet, and my parents were too cheap to buy me a nice ipod, so I ended up saving my allowance for an ipod shuffle as there was no way that I could ever be patient enough to save enough for the more expensive nano or touch.

Oh shit.

The thing about guns is that caliber sometimes does not matter. I am sure you are familiar with this concept from playing War Thunder. In the game, as I am sure you know, the French guns are very large for their tier, yet they are outclassed by the heavy machine guns used by the early Panzers despite them having a shell that is less than half the size of the French gun.

Danny you should make a small list of the movies Simon has seen. That way Simon will know the movie puns.

I thought the iPod shuffle existed just to show kids at the time that their parents care about them a little but didn't love them enough to shell out for a proper iPod

I’ve had an iPod nano. No buttons and only a power switch. Volume and pause/play was controlled on the earphones. I liked it for doing anything active because it was so small and clipped on anywhere

Mechanically operated firearm traps are usually referred to as "Spring Guns" in US legal text and are generally illegal. In some states, you can technically have one set if you are in a personal home you own and you are present. However, they are never legal to protect property that isn't currently inhabited and often illegal anyway, and not just because they're stupid! Spring guns have been at the center of multiple criminal and civil cases in the US and the owner of the spring gun nearly always faces consequences.

A properly trained service dog can help out with hundreds of tasks that the disabled person needs assistance with, including laundry. Whatever you need a service dog can be trained to either do for you or assist with. In the laundry example a service dog could be trained to pick up dirty laundry off the floor, put it in the hamper, drag the hamper to the washing machine, and load it into the machine for you. You would have to add in the soap/softener yourself, but the service dog could be trained to close the washing machine and then push the correct buttons (if it's an electric machine). Later the dog could open the machine, move the clothes to the dryer, close the dryer, push the correct buttons, open the dryer, remove the clothes to the hamper, and bring the cleaned clothes to you. Easiest done with front loading machines but could be done with top loaders too if the dog is large enough. If the machines are dials over buttons you'd have to turn them yourself. You'd be amazed at what dogs can be trained to do to help their human conpanions.

It must be only those of the highest pedigree that can see the "f" in "Lieutenant. Sadly, as an American I am unable to spot it.

Fun Fact: Hit Clips was very similar to a previous product named Pocket Rockers by Fisher Price. It was available from 1988 to 1991. It also involved a music player, tiny cassettes that played a short clip of a song, and the extra cassettes were also wearable as "fashion accessories" when not in use.

The trick with those old Ipod Shuffles was, it only held about 1gb. No room for anything BUT the songs you wanted to listen to!

.50 caliber just means diameter, not lenght so theres different kinds .50 caliber ammunition.
