Their Amsterdam store was massive, but was literally down the street from the most famous Dutch department store, which was struggling already. A competitor had just gone under, as the whole department store concept wasn't profitable. A friend of mine worked on their store interior there, she said it was mayhem. The Amsterdam location was busy on the first day because of all the fanfare, but was no competition for the existing, failing market. Eventually, after massive losses, they admitted that they had done no market research and assumed their reputation in Canada would turn a profit here. Very costly mistake.

Eric .Wukusick.....Of all the parks that my family and I have been to Cedar Point was are favorite, we live in Florida, and would drive there on a Friday after work, ride roller coasters all weekend then drive straight back and be at work Monday morning, Fun, Fun, Fun, it was great.

@@jesthered7966 actually, 35°F can feel like a heat wave when you've gone over 2 months with temps staying at 0° F or even colder with the wind chill. I've seen people here in the States wearing t-shirts and shorts when it's 35°F and I wish I was joking.

@@xxibjrosek It's amazing how quick you acclimatize when traveling too though I at least do notice it more when I've returned home from somewhere hot and humid (I live in the UK) feels less extreme returning from a few weeks in Nevada than Thailand. Probably because humid air feels hotter than it actually is so the same temperature difference feels less extreme after acclimatizing to dry heat rather than humid heat despite the dry heat in Nevada being hotter on average.

Oh man, I love going to theme parks when no one is there during the middle of the week. It is so awesome. My cousins and I had such a blast on a Thursday at Knottsberry farms. We rode roller coasters until we puked. Repeatedly. We didn't even have to get off the ride, there was zero line.

I accidentally stumbled upon Business Blaze, was confused on the memes, then decided to binge watch from oldest to newest just to understand the memes. Now I know key pieces of business information, such as: how COVID affected the boiler repair industry, allegedly how to avoid getting sued, and where to buy a zebra sex mask. Now I have less than 10 episodes to catch up on the Blaze. 10/10, would do again. On a more serious note, this channel has given me some laughs while going through a rather difficult time lately (as if 2020 wasn't already a nightmare). Keep on blazing strong, Simon, Danny, Sam and Charles Wilson.

I had such a hard time paying attention to the video because I got to it so early and was crushed by the pressure of writing a good comment. So here we are.

His mispronunciations are just fantastic. He did an episode on one of his channels about Ceasar, so he talked a lot about Pompey. He pronounced it like you would Pompei, which is probably why he made the mistake. I don't know why it got to me, it's really not common knowledge, but he says it so many times. Lol.

Not only is this channel amusing, but Simon's great voice also does a great job of putting me to sleep late at night when shown on the TV. No this is not sarcasm but might help you understand why some of us enjoy watching to the very end.

fun fact: Disney land CA my mom was watching thunder-mountain go around the track and at one point she thought she saw the train come off the track a bit on a downhill part. she told an employee and they told her everything was fine. 30 min later the ride was shutdown for the rest of the day with no explanation given other than "something was loose"

I remember in August of 2010 when I was riding the wooden coaster Rebel Yell at King's Dominion here in Virginia, and at the far end of the track as the car turned to return back, the safety bar suddenly popped up and wouldn't come back down. Thankfully it wasn't too extreme a ride, so I managed to hold onto the bar with my arms and not get thrown from the car. Ride was shut afterwards while maintenance looked at the restraint system, though I don't know what the cause of the failure was, or what was done to fix it.

Pretty typical. When I was young, I rode a Mayan Temple style ride at Six Flags in Texas & I was too small for the restraint bar to work correctly. (It's like I was just sliding around loose.) I asked the worker to take a look at it but they said I would be fine & moved on. Spent the entire ride with my arms wrapped around the safety bar since it wasn't restraining me, as we went through UPSIDE DOWN LOOPS IN THE DARK. I actually like roller coasters, but that was terrifying & dangerous!

@@bluesira Sadly I think the very safe track record makes people overly complacent, well that and theme parks should learn lessons from the work on CRM developed by aviation. When it comes to safely operate a machine carrying passengers every crew member should be empowered to intervene and stop operation if they have articulable safety concerns, rank should not matter and nobody should be at risk of being fired for stopping operation due to a reasonable concern for safety ever. Any company that makes employees scared for their job if they do what they believe is necessary to ensure safety is reckless at best malicious at worst IMO.

As the type of person who makes near constant, super cryptic references to things that literlly nobody ever gets, I really appreciate Danny's in-jokes.

Don't worry Simon. I found this channel, realized how many in-jokes there were, and went back to the beginning to watch them all. It helps that your videos act as a good timer for my lunch break at work.

this is the best Simon channel, first time I saw a video was quite skeptical due to duration but generally is the whole time bein legend. This is gold

Two things, the first is a tip and the second is a longish story you'll wanna hear. First of all, in regards to going to amusement parks with barely anyone there, you'll almost never do this at any of the big name, national/international tourist attraction parks. But the ones that are built for local markets tend to only be busy on the weekends, especially during the school year. During the summer it can be a bit more dodgy, but if you do a little bit of research, you can find what their busy days/hours are and go with little to no rides, it's pretty great. Secondly, and more importantly, I was in line for the Batman ride when the kid with the church group lost his hat rack. He wasn't retrieving the hat, that was likely them covering for the fact that they had suggested he go through there in the first place. One of the main parking lots is immediately adjacent to the Gotham City themed section of the park, but you have to walk halfway around the park to the entrance, then back through the park to get to it. He had forgotten something in the church van, but his buddies were headed to batman. So he decided, possibly at their suggestion, to go to the van and hop the fence to come back in, and join them in line. We saw him jump the first fence and thought he'd walk around the second one, which protected the areas that the coaster was low enough to hit someone. When he started jumping the second fence, a lot of us started yelling at him to stop, but he couldn't hear us over the sound of (ironically) the coaster. Then it hit him and it was absolutely brutal. Simultaneously the most horrific and quickest death I've been unfortunate enough to witness. And yes, I still see it in my sleep sometimes, trauma is so fun! But yeah, it was absolutely his own fault. He would have been absolutely fine if he had taken the maybe 200 foot longer route around the second fenced area, though he probably would have been tossed from the park pretty shortly afterwards, and then had some sort of minor scandal within the youth group at their church, but that's probably the better of the two options.

When I was in a theme park with no queue, we didn’t even leave the rides before going again.
