    Hi,great video! In answer to your question, yes, I enjoy soup no matter what season I'm in. Also, I believe you're referring to the root end of the garlic. If you were to plant your cloves, that side would go down. 😊

    A little side note if you don't mind. :) It's better not to add onion, garlic and ginger to the pan at the same time. Onion contains much more water than garlic and ginger so it takes significantly more time for onion to cook than needed for garlic and ginger. If you add all three ingredients at the same time, it's just impossible for all three to be cooked properly - you'll get undercooked onion and well-cooked garlic ang ginger OR well-cooked onion and burnt garlic and ginger. You'd rather add onion firstly, cook it until it gets slightly golden brown and then add garlic and ginger, cook it for 2-3 minutes more, and voila - you get all three ingredients properly cooked. :)

    I'm moroccan north African we use turmeric a lot. It's good for health the color is gorgeous and makes everything taste better. So to avoid bitterness of spices like turmeric or cumin or coriander seeds or any other spice. You put half the amount of spices you need for a recipe at the start and put the other half two or three minutes before the end of cooking time. Or for soups add the second half when you blend it. This way you don't compromise the amount or taste and flavor of spices in a dish. Especially turmeric to have all the benefits from it.

    An Indian here. Lately many countries have started using turmeric because of its health benefits. But many don't know the amount to be used. When we cook, we use turmeric in each and every recipe. Just 1/4th (a quarter) teaspoon is sufficient for a dish cooked for 5 people.

    I'm allergic to tomato (yes it makes eating meatless VERY HARD) but watching you make that soup made me realize I could probably sub red bell pepper for a similar effect that won't destroy my life. Might have to add some acid to balance it, but I'm so going to make that this weekend!

    @@Eddisdedd It was amazing!! I had to add a significant amount of lemon juice to compensate for the bell peppers not having the acid content of tomatoes, but I loved it, highly recommend you try! It was a little weird, though, it looked so much like tomato soup that I had to psych myself up to eat it the first couple times because I was expecting it to cause a reaction lmao.

    I’m lactose intolerant so I LOVE the idea of white beans instead of cream in the tomato soup, I’ll definitely try it out!

  • @kinseylise8595

    @kinseylise8595

    7 ай бұрын

    Personal tolerance varies, but in general lactose intolerant people can drink heavy cream without issue up to a cup or so (which is way more than you'd ever consume in most recipes). This is because there is almost no sugar of any kind in heavy cream (including lactose), so there's nothing that you'd need lactase to process. I cook for someone lactose intolerant and me finding this out was a revelation for him. Now he can enjoy a lot of creamy recipes without issue! And if it's a creamy parmesan type recipe, I highly recommend adding heavy cream and garlic powder. It's a great substitute for that parmesan taste (I eat it too when I don't have parmesan, even though I'm not lactose intolerant!).

  • @brett_zesty

    @brett_zesty

    7 ай бұрын

    @@kinseylise8595Hi, slight inaccuracy here, it is actually the low sugar content of heavy cream that allows for lactose intolerants to process it with little issue. That is because Lactose is a sugar - not a protein.

But you get used to it and I don’t miss the extra fat and I feel better after I eat as well as not feeling worried about what I’m feeding my husband ❤️

    Heyy! Just 2 cents from a Hungarian. When you add paprika/chili to something thats being fried in oil, first remove the pan from the stove, let it cool off for a few seconds and then add the paprika. If youre making a soup, or stew, add the water too, and then place it back on the stove. This way it preserves it's fresh taste, and wont burn. Cheers!

A quick tip about thyme - If you buy fresh and don't use all of it, just tie all the branches together and hang them upside down somewhere dry and dark - like a pantry or even a lightless hallway - you'll have dry sage in a week or so and can store it for later. Same goes for oregano, sage, rosemary, bay leaf

    Absolutely fab recipes! Love it! 💜 For the chickpea stew, turmeric issue, you could use curry powder instead and that will balance out the bitterness 😉👍

    When it comes to fresh herbs... tyme, rosemary, oregano, basil... They root really easily. If you put the stems of the extras with the leaves removed until they are out of the water, the root. Then you can grow it in a pot on your window shelf. Just change the water when it clouds as it roots. No waste

    Spiced Chickpea Stew w/ Coconut & Turmeric and Avgolemono Soup both look and sound awesome! Do you ever use the water from chickpeas as an egg sub?? It works like magic. I am not vegan but my niece is allergic to eggs so I use it for her sometimes. Again, I am not vegan but these soups look so good! thanks for the ideas.

    Thanks for these vegan soups. I eat meat but see the value of increasing my veggie intake and reducing the expense of animal proteins. I make soup in bulk amounts and freeze in canning jars. This way, I save money and avoid cooking every single day and still enjoy my own home cuisine. Thank you for the inspiration and variety.

    I’m sick these days and I consider soup to be a sick person’s meal 🥣 (cuz those were the only times I’ve been served soup) so I’m definitely gonna utilise these recipes and the first one about adding pasta and parmesan is so smart I’ll try that too!

    Hi Sarah. Thank you for all the great recipes. They all look delicious. I have 2 quick questions please: 1 I've been watching lots of cooking vids- as a total non-cook- I notice you add the garlic usually with the onions and other vegetables. Most of the cooks caution against adding the garlic too soon because they say it will get bitter if cooked too long. What say you? 2. What was the ingredient that looked like shredded chicken in the last recipe? Thanks again. Liked and subscribed.
