Which of these 5 books should I move to the top of my TBR?

The Bone Ships is my vote. It sounds like it's right up your alley and I think I've heard another booktuber mention it recently so I'd love to learn more about it!

My TBR is so long, and I almost never dip into it. I always end up reading whatever catches my eye on KZread, Twitter, etc. BUT MAYBE SOMEDAY I'LL READ THOSE 30+ BOOKS. I might start somehwere else with Discworld though. Color of Magic isn't the best intro imo. Malazan, Stormlight Archive, Wheel of Time might be the holy trinity of booktube 😂

That's what it is! Wheel of Time! For some reason it slipped my mind. You're right, if you're on Booktube and talk about those three books, you're set. 😂

The Color of Magic along with the second book in the series are rough around the edges as I understand it, but it gets better once Pratchett knew he was going to dedicate himself to that setting.

That's certainly in line with what I've heard about the series. I still couldn't stop myself from starting at the beginning.

I actually tried Witcher 1 first but it really sucked. And I'm reading Kaigen! Swear.

Lots of great books on this list. If you end up picking up Malazan, there are many wonderful communities available to support you if you get confused. Yes, the series can be intimidating. It's not an easy breezy read. But if you want a series to sink your teeth into and something that will stick with you, give it a go. :)

Thanks for the tip! I am a bit scared of starting Malazan. Might give it a bit more time before committing to something that chunky!

*Talks about Final Fantasy* I feel like Dustin forgot what channel he was on for a moment. I recommend The Last Wish as it's a collection of short stories and fairly short. You don't need to invest too much time into it and I quite enjoyed it. I think you'll enjoy the origin of the characters.

You know that I'm going to bring up Final Fantasy any chance I get! I've put off Last Wish for so long, I definitely think it's past time I get around to reading it. Have you read any of the other Witcher books?

@@DragonArmyBooks Yes I have! I'm currently reading Baptism of Fire. There was a discussion about this in Discord but the official translation doesn't separate the change of character perspective which is extremely jarring. They don't break the focus into chapters or even separate the paragraphs with asterisks. For this reason I'm not sure if I can recommend the official English translation. The Last Wish doesn't suffer from this though.

I've heard so many great things about Discworld but I absolutely HATE the shape of the books. I know that's dumb and kind of petty but narrow books make my hands hurt when I'm reading them, and as such I've been really turned off from reading them. Congratulations on the milestone! This is definitely the first time I've felt bad about being a KZread Premium subscriber and thus being unable to watch ads.

You're so kind! Actually, I think when Premium subs watch videos, KZread pays out like they DID watch ads. So that's pretty cool. And I can get behind you on the thin shape of the Discworld books. Odd choice for sure.

I think either the Witcher or malazan would be a great choice. I've only read the shadow of what was lost, not a fan.

im not a big discworld fan but i guess it's probably a must read for a fantasy fan compared to the others? also no commitment issues as you dont necessarily need to continue :-)

And it's a short book so I feel like I could zoom through it in a day or two.

i'm not really interested in reading any of those so choose what you want. one of these days you should pick up a book to do a read-along witht the subs. that would be cool. but it would need to be something really popular... or maybe you should do a poll or something. idk. just giving a suggestion

@@DragonArmyBooks hummm fantasy and murder mysteries. i would probably would love sci-fi but i haven't read much sci-fi yet. read alongs are really fun. i think you should consider it

Selfishly my vote is for The Last Wish. I read the first two chapters recently and wasn’t into it so I need someone to tell me if it’s worth it. It’s obviously popular but I’ve heard some problematic things. 👀 Also stay away from The Bone Ships because I’m reading that next and I don’t want to look like I copied you. 😆
