What a wonderful list! I also really adored Legends and Lattes and The Bone Shard Daughter. And I am planning on rereading Age of Assassins early next year to binge out the trilogy, because I really liked that story on my first read but somehow never continued, oops. Some of my favourites this year were Legacy of the Brightwash by Krystle Matar, Harrow the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir, Dream of Death City by PJ Nwosu, The Veiled Throne by Ken Liu, A Touch of Light by Thiago Abdalla, An Alchemy of Masques and Mirrors by Curtis Craddock and Along the Razor's Edge by Rob J Hayes. Needless to say I highly recommend them all ;) Cheers to another amazing reading year in 2023 with many more new faves!! 🥰

Very interested in The Bone Shard Daughter, will add it to the 2023 TBR. LOVED Legends and Lattes, very different fantasy story, but in a great way. Slice of Life, perfectly put. Sadly, I read Age of Assassins a few years back, was not a fan :/ so much so I actively avoided everything by RJ Barker, think I probably over-saturated with fantasy at that time and it fell short, who knows, but great that you enjoyed it! The Lost Metal is yet to be read, I feel like I could barely recall anything from Mistborn Era 2 so might have a quick re-read before I jump in... As an aside, great to see you back on KZread! :)

I definitely want to get deeper into Discworld. I started at the very beginning with The Colour of Magic which, I know, isn’t the best place to begin. But I have to start things at the beginning!

@@DragonArmyBooks there is an amazing interview/panel? On KZread about the science of Discworld. Anyways they go to say that colour of magic is jam-packed full of info, cause they thought it was going to be a stand alone, rather than introducing Discworld to you gradually as a series.

Age of Assassins looks really good! I just bought it. The Bone Shard Daughter too. It looks like that will be complete at 3 books in 2023. (I don't love long incomplete series anymore.) Thanks for the heads up about these books!

@@DragonArmyBooks So, I just finished Age of Assassins after staying up through the night to read it (I'm too old for this!). It was a great read and I really loved his writing style. Thank you for this recommendation! On to book 2, and thank goodness I am on vacation this week.

Added all to my TBR! I did a ton of rereads this year but my favorite “new” reads were The First Law trilogy, followed by a handful of St. Mary’s novels and short stories.
