    Dadda Purple generally, when I fail something like maybe a precision jump, I will just fall down and roll. So just keep doing the move until you fail. Since you would probably be a decently experienced parkour athlete, you could recover easily... Unless you mean mindless potatoes trying to impress their friends. That's a different story...

  • @eforbes8558

    @eforbes8558

    5 жыл бұрын

    I've been training for a year now. From the research I've done, and experience, yes your heels will hit the ground. The issue is when you land with your heels first. Landing toes first allows your calves to absorb the shock. If there is too much, your heels will then hit and your thighs will take care of what impact is left. Of course more strength and flexibility of the calf, will allow more shock to be absorbed, leading to less impact on the heels. This is how I understand it. I learned it from running/jogging form. Lots of studies on foot strikes.

    Ive been training for almost 2 years and I'm gonna say no to that. It's not like your heels are gonna shatter but try to keep it on the balls of your feet. During the rolling motion that comes after if you do a roll, there should not be a heel touch. If there is it might hurt. I always practice rolling around on the balls of my feet before training with and without shoes to really give my prain a feel for my foot placement

    um help my legs are 50 miles long at it's literally impossible to kong vault lol

  • @TheProdigalNinja

    @TheProdigalNinja

    5 жыл бұрын

    Length of legs don't affect kong vaults. Maybe monkey and kash vaults (because your legs go through your arms), but long legs shouldn't affect kong vaults. In a kong vault you are inverting your hips and and body so that they are parallel to the surface you are konging. Watch a slow mo dive kong or double kong and you will see that the only way they can get the proper distance is to elongate their body and make sure their body is parallel to the object they're konging. If your body stays upright the whole time it is more of a monkey vault, and it's easier to clip. A good way to practice inverting your body so that you are parallel is to get a railing or small wall and just practicing jumping in place, but focus on raising your hips and butt into the air. If you watch really big dive kongs, their butts are way above their head.

  • @TheProdigalNinja

    @TheProdigalNinja

    5 жыл бұрын

    Also, I learned this from an APK tutorial years ago...on kong vaults your hands are already lifted a little by the time your feet go through your arms. That gives you a split moment where you have a couple extra inches to get your legs through your arms.

    I totally get the fear of what youre talking about. I had a NASTY knee clip one that messed up my knees bad. I'd also seriously recommend doing it on grass/sand whatever and NOT concrete.

    THANK YOU :) I also thought that it isn't good idea to start from advanced things so I start from building my whole body strength and flexibility. I noticed how easy I may hurt myself just for example keeping WRONG POSTURE during exercise... so now I pay big attention to every single basic exercise :)

    Way back when I was in High School around '87/'88 (yeah ... I'm old ...), our PE teacher tried to teach us the proper way to land from a forward roll is just about where the head meet the top of the spine. We all tried it on a crash mat which was only about a inch thick, on the hard gym floor. I tried it, landed on the top of my head, and momentum meant I toppled over like a felled tree. Next thing I knew I slammed hard on the crash mat, flat on my back. And yes, it was as painful as it sounds. Funny thing is, the persistant back pain eventually led to my finding out that I have scoliosis (excessive curvature of the spine). Now, I am not saying the two are linked, as my mum has it, and my sister has it the worst, although both she and I needed spinal surgery to correct it ... But just be bloody careful how you start out doing foward rolls. Get a 3" plus crash mat. People may think you are a wuss (or worse ...) for not doing it directly on grass, but take it from me: spinal surgery is no joke, especially as it took me a full year to recover ...
