    No IP address on the Switch for communication to succeed between both VLANs, but you only give IP address to switch if you would like to manage that Switch remotely! I hope this answers your question

    Hi Muhammad, The switch can become trunk if encapsulation is "Auto" because your switch supports ISL and 802.1q, so first you need to tell the switch what encapsulation to use then set it to trunk switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q then switchport mode trunk

VPCS> ip 100.100.100.3/24 100.100.100.1 Checking for duplicate address... 100.100.100.3 is being used by MAC 00:50:79:66:68:01 Address not changed VPCS> show ip NAME : VPCS[1] IP/MASK : 0.0.0.0/0 GATEWAY : 0.0.0.0 DNS : MAC : 00:50:79:66:68:01 LPORT : 20000 RHOST:PORT : 127.0.0.1:30000 MTU : 1500 even though there is no IP assigned to the PC it is saying that ip assigned to same MAC.
