4x4 PTO Driven Timber Trailer BUILD Ep.4 - Chain Housing Finished
Finishing 4x4 PTO driven timber trailer tandem axle chain housing, one side at least. Cutting out the last S355 chain housing parts on the homemade CNC plasma table. Using 6mm S355 steel for all of the housing parts. Sprockets and bearings are off-the-shelf parts I ordered from a farmer store. This 100mm chain tensioner sprocket with the chain tensioner box mount will have a stop inside where the chain tensioner push bolt is tightened against. The hatch lid I cut out is 6mm (1/4") and S355 but I guess it wouldn't hurt to add some reinforcement on the lid and maybe some additional bolts to hold it down more firmly. Excessive force on the lid will only be a problem while reversing the trailer because only then there will be any force applied on the chain tensioner. Next thing in my TO-DO list is the housing for the BMW E39 differential that will be built in between the frame rails. Then the trailer frame itself, propshaft etc. To be continued. Stay tuned!
Trailer specs:
* 28x11-14" tires & 14" rims
* 1450mm/57" wide; length and height - unknown
* tandem axles with homemade chain housings
* BMW E39 530D differential with 2.81 gearing (identical to the UTV diffs)
* hydraulic crane with a boom & grapple for easier log loading & handling
* independent hydraulic power pack
* radio controlled hydraulic winch on the boom
* load capacity - 1-1,5 metric tonne
Stay tuned for the next episode & thanks for watching!

I recommend you get xtra key components that eventually you will not be able to get like xtra differential...Years down the road it will come in handy if you need to swap a failed one.

Do you realize how good you are, Donn?
I love watching you build stuff! Thank you!
Awesome work and attention to detail. I like the way you have made it easily serviceable to change sprockets, bearings chains etc.
Dude you are one hell of an engineer and fabricator. Can't wait to see this monster finished...
That is heavy duty enough, you will be able to pass that along to your grandkids!! Take care
Looking good Donn, one down and a bunch more to go!!! Looking forward to seeing it in operation. I know it will be awesome. Fred.
You and your builts realy deserve the million subscribers !!!! Hope it will come soon
As usual, interesting watching your mind design things as you go. Thumbs Up!
Every build you share here is awesome. Hope you never run out of ideas.
Awesome, love the precision and innovative thinking, wish I could work that clean and tidy, keep it coming Donn.
It's looking good and coming right along, keep up the good work!
Amazing build for sure, thanks so much for sharing!
One piece at a time this thing is definitely coming together; I can't wait to see it in action.
I got 3/8" square drive tap drivers from Snap On that would have saved an hour (or more) using a cordless impact wrench (to thread the chain access cover holes)! I started tapping with a cordless drill (not impact!) cast iron when building wind turbines, after told to do it that way by the manufacturer. It works, trust me! I was amazed, then converted to impact wrenches when I found Snap On sold the tap drive sockets! I'm never going back, it's easier to keep the tap aligned with the hole than using those old "universal wrench" things!!
I can say just by watching the video that the trailer won't blow away on a windy day. Excellent work as always!
Excellent job really nice part waiting for the next 👍 🙏
Just AWESOME !!! Can’t wait to see it in action !
This is coming along nicely, so cool!!!
I've wondered about the way people use their calipers to mark lines on metal. Appreciate that information about the tool!
Progress is looking good. Can’t wait to see the finished product 😍☮️🇺🇦
When you said This is gonna be awesome. I thought well yeah...all your builds are !! Great work as usual Donn. Cheers from Sydney Australia MATE 🇭🇲👍🦘🐨👍🇭🇲🇪🇪 Stay safe.

Amazing work as always. The quality of your cnc plasma cuts rivals water jet.
Another awesome video!
Looking awesome my dude!!
When people say “it’s built like a tank” it’s really just something they say, but in this case it really is true… this is going to be rock solid! Nice work Sir! 😊👍🏻

And insanely heavy...
Hi Donn, still enjoying your videos very much, the tools to power tap are very cheap compared to the other fancy tools you have acquired since I first started watching and can save a lot of time.
Nice work
awesome work
That was funny that the magnetic base drill pulled off the access panel.
Super cool!

now I know why I like to watch you build, because you pretty much do it like I would have lol, great work... PS: you're getting fancy now with that adjuster hehe...
I see you’re building another tank….. keep going I love it ha ha
Great job bro 👌😍👌😍
I like the *MadeInPoland* vibe your channel has, awesome build.
Man! Even a mag-base drill! You may want to build a frame to lift each side final drive off the trailer as a unit with the wheels on. This would allow one side to be brought into the shop for repairs if/when something goes badly wrong in the chain case. It'll be far too heavy to manhandle, but your skid steer could lift and carry it easily. Overall, I'm really impressed with this, and the UTV. Both are something every farmer/rancher should have in his equipment inventory. Well done! Now finish your sandwich and build the rest of it! ;)!
Your work is impressive and inspiring. Keep doing it and thank you for sharing with us.
That whole vehicle will climb over anything, just great! :-D
Geez, it's very heavy-duty. Can't wait to see the finished result...
Very heavy duty 😁👍
Na expectativa para próximo episódio!!!!!! hupi......
I know who I'd be calling if I needed fabwork. I have the imagination just not the ability to do something like this. Awesome work as always

I need more!
Hi Donn good job well done my friend
So freaking cool 😎
Great Video! The grease fitting on the pillow bearings are not for the bearing itself but for the bearing cage to bearing race contact. if you want to grease your bearings you need a grease needle to feed the grease between the bearing seal and race. I just found this out. I do not know if this is the case for these bearings in the video?
At this point, this is built stout enough to rival some of the road scrapers i've seen, i mean, sure proportionally smaller, but still, heavy duty.
Try a pie cut of small round tube for the weld nut you need plum with the bolt running through so its easier to make and the nut will less likely move while welding, nice build i like this style of video straight to it now subbed
This is going to be interesting.
Nice video👍👍👍🤝🏻🙏
alright you've earn a subscriber saw the homemade plasma cnc table and got hooked time to see if there is a video on that one.
Spiral tap will help. Good video.
¡Artista!
I'm a big fan of Your talent and labor quantity put into projects! :) In my opinion tensioning system is obsolete, it would be enough to just pry tensioner with a bar and fasten nuts at same time. Please think about Really tough pivot point connecing whole assembly to frame. I would go for hd bushings instead of chinese bearings assemblies... Keep on hard work, Your the best!
Buen trabajo!!!!
Tá ficando muito bom ... hello for too Brasil...
Nice work Donn you should patent that design waiting for your episode 5
Brilliant
Nice!
I luv The sound of water in The plasma cutter. 🤣
