4L60E Valvebody Vacuum Test

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video, i vacuum test an actuator feed limit valve. Customers complaint is not shifting correctly. With AFL bore worn, when hot may have issues in 3rd and 4th gear.

Actuator feed limit bore wear results in low pressure at shift and EPC solenoids. a stall test with a pressure guage should have shown low top end pressure kinda like a maf dirty under reporting. we replace alot of AFL valves nice work good video thanks

Yes, i kinda knew it was probably the AFL valve from what the customer was describing, i hooked up a gauge pressure didnt look all that bad, but i didnt do a stall test, when cold van drove ok, hot is when the shifting issue started. Thanks for watching. Gary

Gary, as always another great video! Thank you. I have been on the fence about purchasing this tool. So many valve body wear issues that we can't see during overhaul. I think this is something I'm going to have to put in my toolbox. This would make condemning a valve body much more easier and determine whether to purchase The tools and parts to fix or just buy a rebuilt Valvebody. I have the set up for the 4L60E TCC valve and just do that as part of a normal overhaul because of the wear seen in all of them. Thanks agin for your videos.Brad

It really is a great tool, ive had cars come in where we couldnt feel the problem(it would only happen when very hot) but vacuum testing the valvebodies or pumps we would find it that way.

Not only on valve bodies, you can check pumps, cases, pistons, servos. You can check everything.

I have a 4L60E off a 99' GMC Savana Van 2WD with a 5.7L. I was checking the 2nd clutch circuit on the case. It was not holding vacuum. First thing that came to mind was that maybe there's a leak in the 2-4 servo. I applied 30 psi to apply the servo but it blew through the servo pressure relief port on the case. is that normal?

@@GaryFerraro o yeah. I've been watching transmission bench channel on this trans. Thinking about attempting it. His website sells a kit with seals bushings sedra for four hundred bucks. But I make decent money doing Mobile Lawnmower Repair so I'm wondering whether I should just leave it up to somebody else and keep working on lawn mowers and pay up

There actually is not, you would have to keep your own records as you test the valvebodies. On certain transmissions sonnax does have vacuum test guides, that show where to test the valvebodies. gary
