Always cool to see how other candy makers make their candy, and all three of us would definitely watch a documentary version of Ron's stand! Thanks for another great video Greg!

This channel is legitimately one of the coolest things on the internet, and Greg you seem like the kind of guy that it would be a great night to sit down with you share a drink and just talk with. Cheers mate

But the Roman Candy Rum ... bring it and I'll talk. I bought one bottle, and I was doubtful that it would be any good. The Chocolate won an award for best chocolate rum somewhere (forgive me for forgetting where) so I got it, and then I thought a few minutes later. "How much competition is there in that category" My wife and I could have drunk the whole bottle in a night. It was amazing, even without mixing anything in. I need more.

I live in Slidell (just across lake Ponchartrain from NOLA) and I can honestly say that the Roman sticks are amazing.

Greetings from hattiesburg
I always love the history lessons we get from you! I'd love to see the "Documentary" version!
Man I hope they give you a TV show.
I live like 2 and a half hours outside of NOLA and it was always such a treat to go to the Audubon Zoo and get the roman candy!! Strawberry was my favorite! Its glue for your teeth but good for your soul!
Born and rasied in New Orleans. You need tried our seafood. Were know for it. And I rembemer when was 0.25 for 4 favor were strawberry, banna, and vallin and chocolate. They were the best and yummy!

According to Ron, they stopped doing more than just the three flavors (vanilla, chocolate and Strawberry) back in his grandfathers day, not sure when that was. And don't worry, I had lots of seafood, but as I live about 20 minutes from Apalachicola, the seafood was not nearly the treat other things were. Never really occurred to me that that sea food was just not what everyone had. :) I guess I take it for granted. Like I won't eat oysters if they are not shucking them on the boat that brought them in, that is tied up to the back of the oyster shack you are eating in. :) Also I suspect seafood flavored candy might not sell as well as I might hope, but beignet flavored candy might.

I’m from New Orleans too!
Used to live there & the Roman Candy truck can always be found at the JazzFest too!
Your videos makes me so incredibly happy. On behalf of countless blissful hearts all over the world, thank you so so much!
How he mixes that color/flavor without making a mess...amazing!!
NOLA has a great WW2 museum as well. I used to love beignets but can't eat them any more (Celiac disease). Thanks for the memories.

Much of the music we use in this channel is recorded live. I think it gives the music an edge and an energy. It's also cool when you can know the people who make the music that you enjoy.
This brought back wonderful memories! NO is where I grew up and I have such fond memories of buying Roman candy at the cart whenever we went to the zoo. Watching the scenery and band playing makes me so nostalgic. Thank you!
I love watching you make candy! I love the stories you tell, and the dedication to remain authentic! Thank you!!
I love that you are sharing these local candy makers stories. Thank you for sharing your channel this way.
I just love your videos. They're informative and mesmerizing!
I think it would be great to see the "documentary" style Roman Chewing Candy video. That is what I love most about the Lofty Pursuit videos- your commentary walking us through steps of process while doing them.
Oh my gosh narrate everything in my life! Your voice is like those narrators of old cartoons I love so much!
One day I will make it down to New Orleans. Such a history filled city.
I've watched and enjoyed all your videos already! Please make more! I beg you. the process of candy making is very hypnotic for me. It relaxes me to watch sugar being pulled.
I COULD SIT AND LISTEN TO YOU ALL DAY! The information and education in your narrated videos are amazing!

I wish I could travel with you as a guide. It’s clear you have great appreciation for history and all mediums of art. You’re fabulous!
Love this Greg! Thank you for sharing your travels with us!
This is so wonderful! I really hope you do release the alt format too. It would be great to hear him speak too and see what he has to say. But as always I love hearing your own voice through this and all your insights. It's always educational and makes the whole process really special. You have so much love for this craft and it really shows it how you speak about it in your own work and while watching others. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I'm very excited to see where this series goes!
I'd LOVE to hear Ron's narration as he makes candy. Thanks for another great video!
I'd love to hear Ron talking about his work! That's a really great idea to shoot these things in a documentary style. Great job on this one too! It's so delightful just like the rest of your channel. Thank you!
This is an incredible video more like a great short documentary and I must say I L❤VED every second of it. I also would love, L❤VE to see more of Ron's candy making process. Thank you for posting and sharing this. I look foward to more of these. God bless you for taking the time and effort to enlighten all of us to this wonder. Hugs from Texas ❤
Hi Greg, NOLA native here! I appreciate that you mentioned morning call, they had the best cafe au lait. Roman candy is the best part of a trip to the zoo, they have the cart there and I remember watching him pull candy as a very young child. Now my niece does the same, and when we were watching your video on beet candy as we enjoyed our Thanksgiving mix, she got excited watching you pull candy because she recognized the technique.
You have to have the patience of a saint to do this. Fascinating to watch, very calming.
Absolutely loved this video. Our family visited New Orleans summer of 2017. Wish we had known about The Roman Chewing Candy and the Roman Candy Rum then. You are such an interesting person and share your knowledge so freely. It is a blessing. You are a talente artist no doubt.
Just found this _ as a NOLA Ian we would leave class to buy this stuff. SO GOOD.... One of the best memories of NOLA, some of the old ways that actually didn't hurt people. Candy, food, people, craziness. Hilarious.
That was awesome! And yes, that band is incredible 😎 Thank you again for another amazing video!
I love this! That is so cool!!!! And i love the live music i miss having more places around the small area I live. Awseome!
I'm born and raised in Gonzales La about 45min to an hour from NOLA. Ever since I was a little girl I would beg For the Romans taffy when we went to the Zoo! It is so amazing! I haven't been able to find anything like it! New Orleans is a beautiful place, Lousiana in general is beautiful! If you ever get The chance to visit you will love it!
Born and raised in New Orleans im really glad that Roman Candy is well known like this !!
Thanks so much for showing us this. Now I'm dying to taste it!
Your positive attitude is as sweet as the candy you make!
that taffy pulling and the shine that comes off the stretched sugar is pretty hypnotic. candy making is so strange it still seems like magic regardless of how simple it all may be
Roman chewing candy is so good. Its a must have.....add it to your bucket list of things to eat.
I like the fact that you have a passion for Candy making
Thank you so much for this! We love it!
I’ve been watching you for a while and my family loves going there. Didn’t even know that you went there until now keep up the good work.
I have to say... you are such a unique KZreadr. Probably my favorite. The fact that you represent others in your industry is the best. Thanks for all your videos. You have a lifetime subscriber from me. :)

Besides that I like to do this, and this channel has given me the resources to travel and visit people all over the country and to learn and sometimes teach. But some of this is to capture peoples stories while they are still here to tell it. Traditions are hard to make, and easy to lose.
i allways love seeing the candy being made! Great vid!
Very interesting! You have a great story tellers voice.
Thanks for taking us somewhere new. This was fun.
I've been on that train!! What a fun trip. Great music. I just got my "Lavender Image Candy"!!!! It is so beautiful! It tastes wonderful!! I can't help but hold each piece up to the light before I eat it. You did such an Amazing job on this candy. I really hope you keep making it.💖
I would love to see the alternate cut with his in-person voiceover, if you can spare the time. I enjoy all your videos and I appreciate your effort in making them!
thanks for sharing this video is live 60 mi west of the big easy and I love the taffy cart we try to find it every trip.
Wow, you, like your candies, are very refined. It's a rare quality these days. Enjoying the video.
Great video and watching him stretch the taffy is hypnotizing!

for a candy maker, your videography is really good! this was a great video, and I'm looking forward to this being a series.
It would be wonderful to see the alternate version of this video!
this is an amazing video! thank you for it!!
Thanks for the history and tourists tips.
This looks amazing and I love seeing the different candy-making techniques! I'm not sure I agree that all music is meant to be spontaneous but I am a huge fan of watching live music. It's a much fuller experience! I'm really glad to see that I can buy some of the Roman Chewing Candy online, too, because who knows when I'll be able to get from Pittsburgh down to New Orleans! Great video!!
Greg, I am very interested in the documentary-style footage. Please upload!

I love the Roman Chewing Candy stand! I see them sometimes when I go home.
Just got the first of perhaps quite a few shipments from them. Absolutely love it. I definitely recommend the strawberry and chocolate, haven't tried the vanilla yet but I'm sure it's just as good.
loved the video, the spotlight was great. Keep them coming :)
I would love to see the documentary style with the candy maker talking about what he's doing. I love your love of music.
I would love to see it in a documentary format!
wow! what a great story ❤ I'm sure the taffy tastes amazing
I would love to see the other footage of the candy being made. To hear first hand from him the history and knowledge about the candy would be amazing.
I have always loved this candy and would get it every time I went to Audubon zoo. In High school one of my friends was actually related to the family that makes the candy and had some with her all the time and we would eat a lot any time I was over at her house.
Hey Greg, Really love this video. (All your videos actually.) but would love to hear Ron talk about his candy as well. If you did put up the Documentary version, I'd happily watch. Thanks for posting!
I lived in the French Quarters for 4 years, had a second floor balcony on Decatur street.... I miss is sooooo much.
when i was a kid, i remember this cart ... we use to get this taffy often
My husband and I went on so many dates to the Roman candy cart and Morning Call! I love NOLA!
Watching him work that taffy on the hook was mesmerizing
I'd love to see the documentary format!!!!
gr8 video and nice work on all of them keep up them coming :) i really ennjy watching
your voice is so relaxing
I’d absolutely love to see the documentary style you did!
I would love to see the documentary version as well :)
I was thinking the same thing for the pockets but that was awesome!
I used to live in NOLA and this stiff is so good
Just wonderful
I love the whole idea of the cart. It looks like it wouldn't be out of place in any age beyond the victorian era .
Roman candy was all ways in Audubon Zoo when I was a little girl. it was always a treat to get one even if was super sweet at times. I grew up on the west bank as a kid.

great video! will definitely be looking for this little treat next time i get to experience new Orleans. I'd love to hear Ron tell us about his process, if you can find the time to edit your documentary style video.
Watching this video was like watching your channel for the first time. There is some strange magic (voodoo?) to something prepared with such care and tradition. I loved it. About that documentary style video. Please. I can't wait to see it.

that would be cool! should put a second one up!
Even though I knew all of this stuff because I grew up in New Orleans, I still loved watching it. It makes me want to run on down to the zoo and get a stick .
whenever you make it to the northwest you should go to the candyman in seaside oregon, i grew up going there and seing them making while the owner is on main street singing the candyman can on the main street while he's passing out taffy.
Ill be visiting New Orleans this Wednesday, can't wait to look for Roman's, gotta get me some strawberry toffee.
How funny! I was just going to watch Disney Princess And The Frog which is based around there!
I'd like to see the documentary format :)
Oh nice, the band you recorded is playing "One Way Out" a classic blues song first recorded and released in the early-mid-1960s by Sonny Boy Williamson II and Elmore James, an R&B hit under a different name for G.L. Crockett (who also recorded as "G. Davy Crockett") in the mid-1960s, and then popularized to rock audiences in the early 1970s and onward by The Allman Brothers Band.
I love the live reported music in the background of your videos! Sounds like you have live music in your candy shop!
