3pm update. Eye to the east of town. Tallahassee Emergency Management wants to borrow my ice cream truck for food storage. Probably going into the shop in the next 30 to 45 minutes to start cleaning the truck for their use. I will see how the shop is faring then. Home seems intact but I've not been outside to inspect the roof. Still no power at the house.

"Evacuee" is a bullshit term made up by Al-Sharpton who was offended that black people were being called refugees (the proper term) during Hurricane Katrina. Don't feed into Al-Sharpton's cry bully tactics, speak proper English and use the correct term, refugee.

+KiloByte I try to remember to do it. I was an engineering major at one point. I can convert back and forth in my head pretty quickly between Fahrenheit Celsius and Kelvin. The irony is we use Fahrenheit for temperature measurement in the shop and Metric for volume measurement. I do this just to confuse everyone. I believe in equal opportunity confusion.

my grandma who I'm very close to died this january. I went to take care of her for the last week of her life. her favorite thing to eat in the world was black Walnut divinity candy. the days before I made the 6 hour trip to be with her it rained, and rained, and rained. nonstop. I knew the candy wouldn't set in the rain, but i never knew the scientific reason why. I finally had to try anyway the night before leaving. I'm not sure why, but the thought came to me to boil the sugar longer, and IT WORKED. in some sort of miracle the candy set up and it was one of the last things grandma ate. her smile was worth the effort. it's funny you mention divinity in the video, because I clicked to try and figure out how/ why mine set up in the rain.

I just love your voice. It's the perfect candy-man voice.

I'm one of the folks who uses your channel to relax. I adore it for that! It's so chill, and really helps me to zone out on high pain days. Very much appreciate it.

You have to love how it isn't just some sugar design on the top that will disappear in less than a minute. That little hurricane will stay there the whole time you're enjoying that piece of candy. I just can't help but appreciate how much work it takes to make that difference.

You did actually. I stopped by when I was on my way home. Bought some black currant candy, said hi, shook your hand and went on my way. Was good seeing you in person! only regret I had was not staying to watch you make the candy. Probably should have, given the traffic conditions on the way back to Orlando. Oh well, hopefully next time I wont be under such a time crunch.

This has been asked before I'm sure. But every time i see the Amber color candy i wonder if you could make a Jurassic park candy with a mosquito in the middle. But some might not find that good I'm sure.

Georgiie Thanks. Manufactured homes did have a mandatory evacuation order in this area and he may have been in a low lying area. The guy that delivered my pizza a couple of days ago said he was leaving the state just because he has kids and he didn't want them to have to deal with the storm. I was actually joking with my comment. The worst we're likely to get where I am is losing power for a few hours.

I was watching the news and I thought about how hard you'd get hit! I hope you guys are okay!!

Hemogen Hope you are not in the Hurricane warned zones- as a first responder I can tell you that when you are told to evacuate and your life is in imminent danger (especially by your own governor), it is. They don't use language like that lightly. Be safe. If you aren't able to get out for some reason beyond my imagination, I'll see you in a few days.

I know that they aren't in the exact trajectory of the storm but usually stuff changes at the last moment in storms so we can't always be sure but I agree with you. ^^

+Someonezmommy_ _ I tried to make it compact so it would not turn anyone off the video. I'm glad it was understandable when I was done.

Theres something so enjoyably zen about watching this guy calmly make confections, and explain a little about...all sorts of stuff. This is definitely a "how did I end up here?....nah its cool anyway" type of channel. Which I like.
