4 October 2023 - WORLD ANIMAL DAY - Zoo Planckendael (B) - zoovenirs (53)

During my visit of Zoo Planckendael on 22/09/23 , l wanted to get animal species on camera that l hadn't been able to show yet. And l managed to do so, even beyond my expectations.
As several of these animal species are on the endangered species list, l thought of uploading the video today.
4 October is World Animal Day. To celebrate this day, it is the custom to give extra attention to our pet friends, but also to consider animal rights and animal protection. Not only for domesticated animals, but also for animals in the wild.
So why on 4 October? It started in 1930, as a group of animal protectors chose this day as World Animal Day, because it's the day Fransiscus of Assisi, patron saint of animals, died in 1226.

Hi, Emily! Thank you for your comment! 🤗👍 I was lucky to get so many animals on camera and even in close-up! As if they knew what my plans were. 😉😄👍 I deliberately waited to show these animals until today. So sad that a lot of them belong to endangered species. And that's where zoos come in nowadays : helping to keep them alive and breeding, so they don't die out, as much as possible. Happy World Animal Day to Calista! 😻🥰👍

At first, it was only this otter who was outside. He made those noises, as if he was asking us to help him find his family. Later on, they all came out. This was the first time ever, l got the otters on camera. Same for the macaques, the Somalian asses, and the bongos and wapitis up close. I got lucky! 😀👍 Thank you for your comment, Jennifer! 🤗👍
