Z A Hi Emily, thanks for these tips . It's very useful. You have used only 2 scoop of buttercream for coloring and its already easy to achieve dark color which is black, navy and deep red with this amount of frosting. How do we achieve these colors for big size of cakes?

The container for colours is a nail polish case from Amazon: amzn.to/3xVGdsL The sections are the perfect height and width for little gel bottles!
Thank you for the great tips. Does the bitter taste tip work the same for whipping cream as well?

Hi! I use Chefmaster liqua-gels and I bought the storage case separately on Amazon. It's actually a nail polish case: amzn.to/3xVGdsL The sections are the perfect height and width for little gel bottles!

She doesn't like buttercream either, but she does eat white chocolate, but my white chocolate ganache always splits! May be you could make a video on how to make white chocolate ganache one day, that would be lovely!!

Can we use Nutella instead of coco powder and chocolate

Yes! It won't make the brown colour as dark so you'll need to use a little bit more black gel to achieve a true black colour
Have you ever tried black cocoa powder? Or any of the powdered colors? I've used the powders for macarons but not buttercream. Debating on ordering black cocoa powder because I can't find it locally.

I've used black cocoa powder for black buttercream but I find I still need to add gel to get a true black colour.

I use mostly the powered colours, and to get a smooth blend with the buttercream, it helps the add one or 2 drops of boiling water. But I have struggled with getting a nice navy or even black... so definitely going to try the tips in these videos!
Is there a way of getting black without having chocolate buttercream flavour?

Yes, you'll just need to add a lot more gel

What about black cocoa? I just heard about this?
@BritishGirlBakes
Жыл бұрын
It's a little bit darker than regular cocoa powder but on its own it won't make buttercream black, just a dark grey colour. Just like melted chocolate, it's a good starting point to make the buttercream darker before adding black gel colour.
It would taste like chocolate tho right?
@BritishGirlBakes

Yes! For vanilla you'd need to use just black gel so you'd need more of it
I can NEVER get chocolate chips to melt - they get gummy

Try using 80% power in the microwave (or 60% if your microwave is very powerful) and only melt for 30 seconds at a time. Stir for at least 30 seconds to disperse the heat and then repeat if necessary :)
The problem with the black frosting is it will taste like chocolate.

Definitely a problem if you don't like chocolate!
Adding black cocoa powder will allow you to get black buttercream with no food coloring.

I haven't been able to get a true black buttercream using only black cocoa powder. It makes a dark grey buttercream, but not jet black

@@BritishGirlBakes really? I’ve done it twice now....but you sure have me looking back at my photos of those cakes! LOL!
Yeah but now you no longer have vanilla buttercream or almond etc you have chocolate
You are mixing so much color in such a small amount of cream, if we add that much color then the cream will become very bitter. You do this only just to be show in your video, but in reality it is not possible, we have to take care not only of color but also of taste
