    Good job explaining everything, you made it very clear. I upgraded my 36v mx500 a little bit ago to 48v but I used 15ah SLA so it doesn't have much ride time. Next step I wanna grab up a lithium battery maybe 20ah I want to get some more range out of it but don't have too much to spend. Thanks for the video. 👍

    Great work and thanks for the detailed video as well. So far, we've done the lazy upgrade path of slapping a 48v 20ah Ebike battery into our MX650 and are just punishing the stock controller and motor for now- the bike still rides awesome compared to stock, but yeah, we see the future and it's a brushless motor and real controller. I have a similar setup and I love it.... Been looking for a good battery that can handle a 2000w motor but now I'm probably going to get the 60v-72v 3000w kit and have an 80v greenworks battery. I've seen them kits go up to 60mph..... Just trying to find a few materials to make the new battery box, IDK what I'm doing w/ that yet, I'm thinking of doing complete lights w/ turn signals and horn and a decent set of street tires. Edit: O yeah, and I need a helmet too..... 40mph on an Mx650 is scary. LoL

    Its not that bad to install as most connectors are just two wires. So you just match the colors from the bike to colors on the controller. for example: brake has red & black wires; just connect the red to red & black to black on the controllers wires labeled BRAKE. The only one that has more that 2 wires is throttle and this kit it plugs right in

    The 48v/20ah battery on Ebay mentions powering up to a 1200w motor or less. Is that anything to be concerned with, like perhaps increasing degradation of the battery, or will it be able to handle the 1800w motor? It seems like it should work fine, considering your other videos of it working well, like the 6 month check in. Just a little worried before I start investing in this project. Thanks so much for the videos, they've been incredibly inspiring!

  • @BRichSolution

    @BRichSolution

    I understand your concern, but that 1200W is guide for this battery specs. Ideally you'd want a battery with a 35A BMS, but the 30A BMS battery is sufficient as it appears the battery restricts amps to 40A in real life. The reason why I know this to be true as when riding I do not notice a performance hit unless the voltage is below 45V after riding for over 60 minutes in high speed (pulling 1800W). Hence 1800W / 45V = 40 Amps. When I start to drop below 47V I typically only run in medium or low gear (this is why I like the 3 spd throttle) to preserve my range.

    B Rich - interesting issue i'm having. I got the bike up and running, everything was working great.....all three speeds, headlight, etc etc. my son rode it last night, parked it for the night and plugged it in. went to use it this morning and it doesnt work (odd?). You can hear when you twist the throttle the motor is getting the signal, it lurches forward for a millisecond then cuts out. strange? any suggestions on starting to trouble shoot? i used everything in your kit, didnt deviate from anything.

    I would check the volts coming out of the controller to the motor. If the volts increase when twisting throttle then either motor of hall sensor is bad in the controller. My guess is there is an issue with the controller

    @B Rich thanks for the reply - where should i check the controller - strip back the blue/yellow/green wires and test them? i assume red on tester to yellow and black on tester to blue? also - after trying to get the motor to engage for 10 mins of tinkering around, the controller was getting super hot and the wire from the controller to the motor also very warm. the only thing i did different than your build is, i just jumped the E-lock with a wire, i didnt tie it back into the throttle...i wonder if this caused a problem? (do you have an email i can take this offline and email you? - i'm trying to be a hero for my son and i'm failing...)

    @@BRichSolution well - it looks like the hall sensor in the motor is shot according to my Ebike tester. any idea what the cause was? everything was working fine....until it wasnt? got about 4 days of use and it died. im hesitant to install a replacement motor if i have something wired incorrectly??

    Is there a kit anyone can suggest to put on an mx 350 just got one and im trying to upgrade i dont wanna spend hella on it i just was a decent ride time and speed

    I would just upgrade the stock 24V battery to 36V li-ion battery and keep the stock motor and controller can handle the extra power and the bike will be lighter and 5 mph faster. The 36v / 14ah battery will give you a lot longer ride time too. ebay.us/7VCLqF

    Motor kit and battery is about it but hydraulic brakes are needed for higher speeds as the stock brakes are not safe

    Hello I love this channel and all the great info that you’re giving out . I’m very interested in the set up and looking to purchase auto parts. My question is will this setup fit on a mx650?If I put the battery on the bottom and put the controller on the top? I’m sure I have to either cut or modify the top rack where the battery sits right? Also is there anyway I can contact you for more information

    Either wire the new battery to xlr plug and make sure to use 48v charger or on my last 3 builds i run the battery charge cord/plug out the back of battery box and use the charger that comes with the battery

    Is this motor a direct bolt on? Looks like I would need to buy the motor kit and the sprocket at minimum?

  • @BRichSolution

    @BRichSolution

    3 жыл бұрын

    yes motor is bolt on, but you do have recess 2 protruding screws on the back of the motor. see video at 2:22 for details. the screws are easy to recess as the motor back plate is aluminum to it drills out easily

    What if you want to put a key switch instead of the switch on the razor? can you do a video about it or just explain?

  • @BRichSolution

    @BRichSolution

    I haven’t done a throttle with the key but it can’t be that complicated as there is only one wire to key all the other wires are the same as in this video. Use these lever connectors as it makes it easy to troubleshoot connections and switch wires around. amzn.to/39BuYZy
