    These bear trackers are boringly RELIABLE! I bought one same thing supposedly not running i showed up the old man assured me It wouldn't start citing battery sitting for years since it "broke" I put the key in and choked it and wallah old girl fired right up to his dismay I promptly drove it to my truck waiting for the thing to not shift or something and after I tore up old man's grass and did a full gear run thru I happily gave the man 6 bills and have enjoyed it ever since go yammy!!

    Awesome video. I stopped to help a guy with a flat tire on his trailer. He had a load of scrap wood he was hauling to the dump. I saw handle bars sticking out and noticed a Yamaha four wheeler. After helping him with the tire he told me that I could have the four wheeler. He said the engine was locked up. Long story short. It had a broken wire on the starter. I rode it yesterday. It's a timberwolf. Definitely needs some love but I am stoked to have my first atv. I've only ever owned three wheelers and go carts.

    @@darkgrey1790 nice! i just got a free beartracker too, i cleaned up a bunch of junk out of this property and the guy let me have the old bear tracker sitting in the field. its a 1999and it seems like it has low hours. i got it running rerally good even though it came with a chinese carb and it still needs a rebuild kit. the tires are original and junk (they hold zero air and i blew up one of the rears trying to seat the bead) but i still rode it around the other day before i buy new tires. did you get yours running? im thinking of buying sunf A028 23x7x10 and 23x10x10 tires. i cant wait to go ride it at the beach!

    I had one of these when I was young. You couldn't kill it! For 2wd it went everywhere. Climed great and was a wheelie machine. I miss it

    Nice find. Got a Timberwolf myself I paid $200 for. Put a K&N air filter, full DG exhaust and re jetted the carb. Runs great, sounds great and made a nice difference in power over stock.

    I had a 98 250 Timberwolf 4X4. Being 4 wheel drive it didn't go very fast but it would go just about everywhere. I never got it stuck in the snow. I paid it off and bought a 2001 350 Wolverine. I still have it and use it daily. It works great for plowing my driveway in the winter and it goes fast enough for my old butt. 2 wheel drive atv's are more fun to rip on and I see your doing just fine.

    I just bought a 2000 Bear Tracker in fair condition....Replaced the intake manifold and with some carb work runs excellent....It was a much better example than yours however I paid 800 in 2023...Next is brake work. tires, basic maintenance...Plastic, seat, handlebars and controls are good....Will do a deep detail with some paint and decals and she should be a great little work horse and slow trail machine for the kids....Great work on yours I like your style.

    Something I have used to remove paint off metal rims is acetone. Not sure if that would be good or bad for an engine, but something to consider on the metal parts.

    I have a 97 Timberwolf, I appreciate the info on cleaning it up. I was interested in cleaning mine, but had no idea on how to go about it. I'll be trying your method. I also have an 06 Bruin its amazing at the quality difference a few years makes. The Bruin is a piece of junk compared to the T-Wolf. Cosmetically looks better, but mechanically inferior.

    I got one of these for $200, the entire top end of the engine was destroyed due to lack of lubrication on the wrist pin, the connecting rod was heavily gouged but repairable with some Emory cloth and I got the thing running today on propane. Unfortunately the carburetor is heavily damaged and corroded so needs replaced.

    Sorry for the noob question but what exactly is the petcock? Something to do with gas valve of some kind I think but cool videos. learned a lot. Watched a couple quad fix videos so far and every time I end up checking my fire alarm batteries ;P

  • @averybryant

    @averybryant

    2 жыл бұрын

    Lmao yea i need to get around to changing those… i dont even hear the beep anymore until someone reminds me. The petcock is just the fuel on/off valve and also has a reserve tank setting where it leaves the fuel on the bottom of the tank alone until its switched to reserve. This helps you not get stranded if you run out of gas and gives you a little more to get home

    I wish Yamaha would come back out with the bear tracker and timberwolf 4x4s. I think the world needs some 250cc 4x4s again. Honestly the best thing to market towards right now would be a youth 4x4 atv. Polaris can am Suzuki ect all make youth quads but they are all way overpriced compaired to there Chinese competition. A sportsman 110 is 4k my son has a Tao 125 and a kazuma 150 and they are both sub $1500 new and are almost equal in quality. I just wish the Chinese would make a 200cc 4x4 for kids put 22-24 inch tires under a 350lb machine and my kids could follow me anywhere.

    Avery I’ve been working on my bear tracker for a while I now have it running but when it starts up I can’t even rev it without it wanting to die I cannot figure out why I have rebuilt the carb and clean everything on it I even put it back the way it supposed to be. How did you set your carb on yours because I may have set mine differently resulting in sluggish start. It will idle with no problem though just can’t rev when it starts for about 2-3 minutes

    if you use a heat gun over the plastic it draws the oils out and makes the plastics like new. Faded plastic is just the UV drying out the oils. Just don't over heat and melt the plastic or warp it.

    Bro that’s NOT how you fix faded plastic all you did was scratch the ever living fck outta the plastic gotta use a heat gun or if you are handy with a torch use a torch at distance it’ll melt the plastic right back to original color and won’t fade or look at dull when dry 👀
