The 7mm WSM is one of my favorite rifles. The WSM series is still very relevant in today's crowded cartridge world. I've never owned the 300 variant, but I'm sure it's to the 300 Win Mag what the 7mm is to the Rem Mag. I'd have to say, though, my 284 Winchester can do 90%+ what the 7 Mag can do with a shorter barrel, lighter recoil, less muzzle blast, and generally speaking more accurately.

I have 3 and 2 don't shoot for shit yet. Well my 25-06 does with only one kind of ammo out of the 5 I tried but the bolt is awful. My 7 prc is terrible sprays bullets in groups no better than 2.5-3.5 inches. I just bought weatherby select plus 177 grain hammer custom ammo for it. $90 a box. If that doesn't work savage can have it back and figure out the issue. My 30-06 is around 12 years old and it's a tack driver though I'll give it that. Used to have a savage 111 in 300 win mag too that was also about 12 years old and it shot great. So seems like the new ones aren't that great. At least to me

When it comes time for you to reload for the 300wsm, you can check out the Speer gold dot 150s. If they still produce them, pretty sure they do but it’s hard to catch them in stock, they are rumored to be the same bullet as the fusion factory loads. Rifles I have that shot the fusion factory load also shot the gold dot well in reloads. The gold dot and the Speer impact are excellent budget friendly bonded bullet options. Howdy from SoDak WTW and Halfmilesniper. Hard to beat the 300 wsm. Great caliber. Have had one for the last 23 years. Super accurate and have taken alot of critters with it too.

TAC DRIVER 😊👍🏼 🎉🎉🎉 300WSM is my fave for Moose/Elk/Bear
Heavy barrel Savage riffles are a shoe in if you spend the money & get the long range ELD-X-M or other. If you haven't tried the Savage Desert TAC. in 6mm creed then you are missing out. love the vids man Keep em going
The 300wsm is a long time favorite

You have got to be happy with those results. I know I would . I want to get a CVA cascade long range hunter in 7mm rem mag but I might be having second thoughts . You certainly are getting fantastic results with your 2 savage 110 trail hunters ! Enjoyed the video 👍

300 WSM is my favorite of the short mags. The 325 WSM is next favorite one. Ain't nothing wrong with a Savage.
300wsm and 270 wsm are the Hardee’s brass to find for us handloaders
Welcome to Savage Nation 😊

I have a browning x-bolt 300wsm and I hand load for it also. The 300wsm excels with 150 and 165 grain bullets. Accubonds shoot 1 hole! The 300wsm does it all!

Savage are fantastic shooters. It's a great rifle for a great price.
That minimally releaved receiver should be very stiff. Savage bolt guns are an amazing value.
Nice Gun. Dammm dude you can shoot some good groups.
That is a shooter!!!

I have had good luck with all my savage rifles
The 7mm WSM is one of my favorite rifles. The WSM series is still very relevant in today's crowded cartridge world. I've never owned the 300 variant, but I'm sure it's to the 300 Win Mag what the 7mm is to the Rem Mag. I'd have to say, though, my 284 Winchester can do 90%+ what the 7 Mag can do with a shorter barrel, lighter recoil, less muzzle blast, and generally speaking more accurately.
With those accurate low cost rifle, you have the money to get a good scope or a lot more money for ammo.
Here where I live 300 WSM factory ammo is approx $3 per round. If you are a hunter who only fires one or two rounds no problem, but in a 40 round competition, you have to reload or go broke.
I love my 300wsm. However it’s a challenge to find ammo , when I do I buy them out
Intrigued by the 300 Wsm and like the savage rifle 🎉
My fav cartridge
Swift bullets are among the best out there. That would be my pick without hesitation. A close second would be the Fusions
I’ve got a Winchester model 70 in 270 WSM that my brother in law won in a raffle years ago…. No sights drilled n tapped but no scope ever mounted still has the tag hangin on the trigger guard

I really like the 270 WSM I also have one and it is a good shooter biggest problem is finding ammunition and brass for it I have made some brass up by running the 300 WSM brass through the 270 WSM dies
good groups might have try those federal fusion and Remingtons in my 110 trailhunter but in my neck of the woods been finding a lot of Winchester supreme hornady outfitters and Barnes ttx
I've never owned a Savage that wasn't a shooter.

At least to me
All my rifles shoot really well with the American Whitetail when I couldnt find primers to reload my berger bullets
Groups like that, with a 180gr bullet. Out of 300wsm. Small miracle just happened. 270wsm is the only short that makes since to me. But there few and fare between.
I like to sight in at 1" high because it gives a good maximum point blank range.
You have much improved in accuracy since your days of missing a 12' gong from 10'away with your EDC 9mm unto now regularly shooting half inch groups with anything.

😝😝😝
That's impressive. I've given up on Savages since their quality has gone way down (Swiss cheese bores from end to end) but that is the kind of accuracy that Savage routinely had 10 to 15 years ago.
Nice groups again. The Scirocco or the ELDX Federal I would take anywhere in North America for anything. Thank you.
I love the 300 wsm, I have the older Savage 10 in 300 wsm. I'd actually choose it over my 300 WM.
I’ve got the Speer impact shooting phenomenally out of a Browning xbolt in 6.5prc.

I'll check
I use the 150g fusion in my tikka t3, 300WSM. Didn't know it's discontinued 😮 Anyhoot, I get the same groups as you did with the 150g & 180g Federals. I'll hafta try the Remington. Thanks for the good info.
I have a model 70 super grade in the 300 WSM and it does kick darn hard it shoots perty good but I have to use my past shoulder pad otherwise with being on blood thinners after having a a heartache it leaves my shoulder and arm bruised up
I like that you haven't turned your back on the 300 WSM, like most of the other youtubers have. I have Gotten 3/8" groups from the federal fusion 165 grain.
I just checked and I think you are right about Federal no longer producing 150gr Fusion for the 300wsm. They are still producing the Fusion in both 165gr and 180gr, though.
👍😊 you can pick what you need for the game your after.
My guess is going to be Powershok!
Interesting that you have good luck with the fusion ammo. The only fusion I have good luck with is my car 😅
I still think 300WSM is a great cartridge
Fine caliber would you think of putting some weights on your sled rest it will improve recoil and return to battery
I would like to see a group comparison of the 180 and 150 gainers that was the best at 100 yards done on 300 yards please
You should try that barrel tuner by Eric Cortina. Just sayin, that would be a fun video!

If you can find Federal Fusion 180 grain in 300WSM, try it.
Ok I'm going to give you the pat on the back either way . I would have bet on the ol blue box federal . I bet it would do a 150gn blue box real nice . You have me at 300 anything either way 🤪
I like the heavy boolots

Me too
Just wish the Axis wasn't the only budget bolt gun that comes in left hand.
I have several Savage rifles and all of them shoot well except for my Savage Ultralight 300 WSM. That one is super picky. I have tried every ammo that hits the shelves and the only one that shoots good is the Remington Premier Scirocco 180 grain. Unfortunately it looks like Remington has stopped production of it.
I'm trying to decide on a short action caliber for my first bolt action build and am looking at 6.5 PRC, 6.8 Western, and 300 WSM. I have heard some people say that the 300 WSM can have feeding issues. I know you're a big fan of this caliber. Have you had any feeding issues with this rifle?
@WHOTEEWHO
Ай бұрын
I have owned 2. Don't recall any feeding issues
Fun fact about the federal fusion the bullets are Speer Gold Dot
That's why you reload you go for grouping. I like light an fast.
I had an older shooter tell me ine time that any load that would consistantly shoot 1 inch at 100 yards was worth testing at 300yards and to not be suprised if the load rhat was grouping in an inch group might wind up shooting better groups at 300 yds than somthing that was grouping a half inch at 100yds.
Have you done a review or put hands on a 110 Tactical? Don't remember if I've asked you that previously. Great groups brother...

I always tell people who are just getting into hunting/shooting to get a savage over any other “budget” guns. Never used a savage rifle that didn’t work perfectly
