With regards to barrel length is the length determined by the total distance of the rifled section of the barrel or chamber plus rifled section of the barrel, the reason behind my question is I recently had a proof research barrel fitted too a rifle I look for 24 inch barrel and I've measured it and can't seam to get 24 inches so it's either cut short or the inches on my tape have gotten bigger

Gavintoob has been doing a lot with 300PRC. I've considered putting one together. I need more info from multiple "trusted" sources to sell me. I do think it has potential. Does the speed make up for the cross sectional area though? Lot of surface area for wind and drag.

Also it could just be a poorly calibrated shoulder on my end, but the 300RPC seemed to have less recoil than your typical 300WM. I went 6.5PRC myself, but looked strongly at the 300. Can't go wrong with either.

I own a Ruger Precision Rifle in 300 PRC nice rifle but the problem is not being able to find ammo for it. Hornady who developed and marketed thing is a joke. I feel like I bought a rifle that takes either boutique or wildcat ammunition. I live in Pennsylvania and can't find the stuff anywhere here on the east coast. The few times I've been able to buy any it was from people out west 1500 miles away. My advice is really think long and hard about purchasing a rifle in 300 PRC. I wish I would have baught it in 300 Win Mag or 338 Lapua. Only reason I didn't go with the 338 was cost of ammo for it. Instead I bought the hype from Hornady and went with their 300 PRC they obviously don't want to make ammo for... Again think long and hard about the 300 PRC when a 300 Win Mag or 338 Lapua will get it done for long range shooting...

@@gsnicholas8522 Hey Nicholas with all do respect not sure where you live in Pa. But trust me where I purchased the rifle at Cabela's, which isn't far from my home, they never stock 300 PRC like ever. I should have known when I bought the rifle over two years ago, and they didn't have the ammo it was a mistake. The only place I've found it at a reasonable price has been in the mid west states if they can get it. Note called Hornady to find those locations, they hyped the 300 PRC and never delivered on it. That's the sad fact with Hornady lesson learned with that company and their BS...
