    This song is from a French Canadian rock opera from the 70s. The song itself begins with “Why do I live, why do I die? Why do I laugh, why do I cry?” The subject surrounding the song is one of depression and suicidal ideations. A very somber subject which Dimash reflects delicately and beautifully throughout. The last phrase is essentially “Sleep, child, sleep.” Very expressive and emotive. His Stranger is a recent song written by Igor Krutoy for Dimash and is incredible!

    I agree with much of what you said, but not all. Thinking of death and even feeling attracted to what might be the other side is not the same as suicide. In the story, this is when his girlfriend is dying. I think it expresses emotional pain, but also hope and comfort. Maybe it is better to float above the world and see it upside down, like a bird. I really don't think it is about suicide. I don't think Dimash would sing about that. I did think that at first because someone made the comment, but looking into the story, I think differently now.

  • @cynthiabruce-marzenska5024

    @cynthiabruce-marzenska5024

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@HappybdD_mash5-24 it certainly is another interpretation. Depression and even thoughts of death are not abnormal in the situation the character in the musical was experiencing. Whether you consider the song s as reflective of a suicidal soul or not, the song is reflective of a “SOS of a human in distress”. The call for help, the intense grief and pain and the wonderment if the beauty of the world would be better seen from above. True, singing about death does not automatically make it a “suicide song”, but I don’t think that that’s the message of the song at all. Many of us have been through dark times in our lives - loss of a loved one, heartache, etc. - and sometimes that darkness can darken even the brightest minds. The song - to me - serves as a reminder to everyone who is suffering that sometimes you only need to ask for help to get through the darkness and find peace “on the other side” (aka, after the depression - not necessarily death). It would be naive to imagine that this song does not reflect the feelings of someone who has considered death as an option. It doesn’t mean that it is the only option. I don’t believe that Dimash hasn’t experienced grief nor darkness. You cannot be as expressive in your art without both the light and the dark. I believe that Dimash has read and interpreted the words appropriately so that he can convey the depth of emotion of this intense song.

    I discovered Dimash about a year ago, after ignoring him in my KZread recommendations for more than a year. I figured he was just the latest pop "sensation," and I generally do not listen to that genre of music. I am almost embarrassed to admit that I have since watched hours upon hours of reactions to his various performances. I mostly watch reactions from professional vocal coaches, many with backgrounds in Opera, vocal students, professional singers, and music producers. I just came across your channel, and like you, I am absolutely amazed by his incredible talent, ability, vocal range and dynamics, delivery, and stage presence. Here is some information about Dimash. Dimash is from Kazakhstan, but more specifically, he is a native Kazakh. Kazakhs are a separate indigenous people from regular Kazakhstanis. They are the original Nomad tribes from the steppes; there are about 10 million Kazakhs in Kazakhstan who no longer live as nomads and about 1.4 million in China; mostly in Xinjiang, where many nomadic groups remain. Small numbers also exist in Uzbekistan, Russia, and Mongolia. Dimash is a direct descendant and lives traditionally with his extended family. It is custom that the firstborn son of a family is given to a set of grandparents to be raised for at least 10 years. Dimash was entrusted to his paternal grandparents, and they raised him and instilled confidence in him. They raised him to believe that God had a great plan for him, and he should pursue it and dedicate himself to that plan with his entire being. When Dimash was five years old, he pointed out to his grandparents that the piano was out of tune, and they immediately realized what that plan was. They decided to enroll him in the best children's music school, and thanks to Dimash's parents' relative fame, he was accepted. There he took piano lessons, started singing, and was found to have perfect pitch. His family was determined to afford him every opportunity; there was no room for slack, and Dimash's personality and character enabled him to dedicate himself entirely to his craft. We are now enjoying the fruits of that labor. Dimash is university-educated with degrees in classical/Opera, contemporary music, pop, and jazz with a major in vocal. He also completed a Broadway musical master's class and has recently completed his Master's with a concentration in Composition; his thesis was titled: "Personal Image of Traditional Music." He graduated with Honors, achieving a perfect score of 100%. He is currently working towards his Ph.D. as he wants to teach music after his singing career. Dimash has diligently honed his craft and developed his God-given gift for more than 20 years now, and it shows. I read somewhere that Dimash swims several hours every day to increase his lung capacity. It's not just raw natural talent but tremendous work, dedication, and discipline to achieve this level of performance. He has won many prestigious singing competitions and is a much-loved national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He was even offered a place with the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turned it down to follow his own path, and he has been very successful thus far. He has performed songs in 15 languages; Kazakh, Russian, English, Mandarin Chinese, Italian, French, Spanish, German, Serbian, Turkish, Sicilian, Ukrainian, Kyrgyz, Arabic, and Japanese. Besides his native Kazakh tongue, he speaks fluent Russian as it is still an official language in most former Soviet Republics. Dimash is getting pretty good with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin, which he says is a challenging language to learn. Dimash plays six instruments; the piano, dombra, guitar, xylophone, cello, and drums. He usually performs for more than two hours during his live concerts and treats his audience to an eclectic mix of styles. According to some analysts, his range is over 7 octaves (A1-D8), spanning across all four registers. As many probably know, the four registers, from lowest to highest, are vocal fry (pulse), modal voice, falsetto, and flageolet (whistle tone), and Dimash seems to effortlessly navigate between them, often within a single breath and without a break in between. Dimash has even hit a D8 for ~5 seconds with vibrato, the highest note ever performed during any live performance. He sings in multiple musical genres. His primary genre is classical crossover, but he also sings classical music (bel canto), pop, and world music. He uses musical elements, vocal styles, and techniques of many other genres, including jazz, rock (e.g., screams), RnB, musical theater, even rap, and Tribal and Turkic melismas, which are technically very distinctive and very difficult to master.

    One constant in reacting to Dimash. You think you won't be surprised by the next song, but then he brings something new/exciting EVERY time. Sure he's got range, stage presence, charisma, passion and is an incredibly nice human being. But his aim is to entertain using whatever genre(s) and all his talents, which are considerable. So we've got operatic (Ogni Petra), Kazakh folk (Samaltau), pure Soprano (Ave Maria), Tear Jerking ballads (Daybreak), Vocal Gymnastics (Diva Dance), plus Rock, Pop, Opera duets/trios, New Age, even Rap. And his official (ie. non-concert) videos are true works of Art (Across Endless Dimensions, Love of Tired Swans, Be With Me). Basically he can sing almost any genre, mixing modes seamlessly, and almost everything is done to his own absurdly high standards! A born entertainer.

    This song is a pearl of the French songbook is a Canadian-French cyberpunk-rock opera written in 1976 by Michel Berger (French) and with lyrics by Luc Plamondon (Canada) and was immortalized in the voices of Daniel Balavoine and Diane Dufresne. The theme of the song is depression and, in the 2021 version, Dimash faithfully and brilliantly presents a sentimental and melancholic interpretation! As the singing decisions follow the original structure of the song to show the psychological instability of the distressed character: From the chest voice to the head voice and then the falsetto, the author aimed to show a broad need to overcome a long of despair and need to reach a very high perspective! Dimash, currently in his concerts, dedicates this song to his friends and acquaintances who departed this world!

    This was a very enjoyable reaction. The song "S.O.S. (d'un Terrien en détresse)" is originally from a French-Canadian musical called 'Starmania' from the 1970s and is considered one of the most difficult French songs to perform. Dimash is from Kazakhstan. He appears here in the fifth season of Hunan Television's "I Am A Singer" competition. "I Am A Singer" is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers. The audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode. It is the same throughout the entire show; 500 with musical backgrounds judge the show by points each week. At 22 years old, Dimash was the youngest participant in the show's history and competed against these professional and top-selling Chinese singers as a 'wildcard' competitor. The competition consists of 14 rounds, lasts almost 4 months, and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. Every performance is live, and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only. Dimash's mother later said that he hoped to reach at least the middle stage of the competition. This was the very first episode of the competition, and Dimash had to go first because he was considered the weakest, given that he was completely unknown to the audience. After this performance, he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. Dimash won the first two episodes! He also won the 6th for his rendition of "Adagio," a song made famous by Lara Fabian. First place overall went to the famous Chinese Sandy. Sandy's first album came out before Dimash was even born. Dimash took second place overall; however, he lost by a very narrow margin. He lost a lot of points for his performance of "Uptown Funk." Although Dimash did not win the show, he immediately became a beloved star in China. As part of the contest, all contestants/performers are required to perform one original song they have composed. Dimash sang "Unforgettable Day," a song he wrote when he was still in his teens - it's a love song. He sang in both the original Kazakh and in Chinese even though he did not speak Chinese at the time and had to have a translator with him throughout the competition. Here is the order of Dimash's performances for The Singer 2017. The contest lasts 14 weeks, but Dimash has only 13 performances because he had already made it into the semi-finals by week 11. 1. S.O.S. (French) 2. Opera 2 (Russian) 3. The Show Must Go On (English) 4. Autumn Strong (Mandarin) 5. Uptown Funk (English) 6. Adagio (English) 7. Daididau (Kazakh) 8. Daybreak (Mandarin) 9. All By Myself (English) 10. Unforgettable Day (Mandarin/Kazakh) 11. Bye week - He had already made it into the semis 12. Confessa/Diva Dance (Mandarin/Italian/Alien) (Semi-finals) 13. Michael Jackson Tribute Medley (English) (Finals) 14. Give Me Love (Makhabbat ber maghan) (Kazakh) The last performance was part of the 2017 Biennial Concert and not the competition. It was broadcast live and is an original song written for Dimash. Lyrics: Why do I live? Why do I die? Why do I laugh? Why do I cry? Here is the S.O.S. Of an earthling in distress My feet were never on the ground I'd much rather be a bird I don't fit my skin I'd like to see the world upside down What if it's more beautiful As seen from above, above I always seemed to confuse life With some kind of comic strip I'm so eager to get metamorphosed I can feel something Drawing me, drawing me Drawing me way up high At the universe's lottery I didn't get winning numbers I don't fit my skin I don't wanna be a machine All work and no sleep Why do I live? Why do I die? Why do I laugh? Why do I cry? I think I'm picking up Waves from another world My feet were never on the ground I'd much rather be a bird I don't fit my skin I'd like to see the world upside down I'd much rather be a bird Back to sleep, dear child... lyricstranslate.com

Now you need to know more about him, his background, etc, etc. He has perfect pitch, at 5 he told his father the piano needed to be tuned. And yes, he started studying at 5. He is singing in a competition in this video in 2017 in China, by invitation only. He was the first contestant. Imagine having to sing after him..... Anyway, he can do MORE than what you heard, and it is really very interesting. So my advice start by watching his performances of this competition first - IN ORDER, then his newer stuff. You have barely even begun to scratch the surface of Dimash's talent and ability. He has continued to hone his skills and to fine-tune and perfect his already unbelievable abilities even more. There does not seem to be a limit to what he can achieve vocally. I am excited to follow his journey. Dimash will possibly go down in history as the greatest vocal talent known to man. I cannot think of anyone, past or present, capable of doing what Dimash is capable of. I am still waiting on someone to name a single individual even remotely close to Dimash's mastery. If you want to follow Dimash's career progression over the last five years, here is a song list I usually recommend in semi-chronological order: S.O.S. (d'un Terrien en détresse), either the Slavic Bazaar or the 2017 "I Am A Singer" version. His covers from the same competition of Lara Fabian's "Adagio," Eric Carmen's 1975 "All by Myself" (repopularized by Celine Deion), and Freddie Mercury's "The Show Must Go On." Also, from the same show, Confessa & Diva Dance, Opera 2, Daididau, Daybreak, and Autumn Strong. His "I Am A Singer" 2018 guest performance of Lionel Richie's "Hello" is a must. Then there is Sinful Passion (Greshnaya Strast), Love is like a Dream, Your Love, Olimpico (Ogni Pietra) from Igor Krutoy's channel, Diva Dance (Bastau Concert), Across Endless Dimensions (either the movie trailer or his internet live concert performance), and Know (both the regular performance as well as the vocalise). His more operatic-sounding performances are Ti Amo Cosi (with Lara Fabian and Aida Garifullina), Ulisse (Duet w/Aida Garifullina), Tu Vas Me Détruire (duet w/Sundet Baigojin), Question of Honour (duet w/Zarina Altynbayeva), and the aforementioned Olimpico (Ogni Pietra). His traditional and Chinese songs are also impressive: Adai+Daididau, Samal Tau (2020 Tokyo Jazz Festival), Qairan Elim (Holy Land), Elim Menin (My Homeland), Karagym-ai, Thousand of Miles - A Common Dream, and Ómir Óter. And then there are Drunken Concubine & Diva Dance (duet with Li Yugang), Without You, Love Of Tired Swans, Where Love Lives, Unforgettable Day (Gakku Concert), I Miss You, Passione, Give Me Love, Marigold, Golden, Mademoiselle Hyde, Screaming, his latest music video "Be With Me," just to name a few. His latest songs, "Fly Away," "Stranger," and "Ave Maria," recently debuted live at New Wave 2021, and the latter two are on a whole new level. Dimash performs an alternate version of "Stranger" on the "Shine! Super Brothers S2" Youku Show that is simply mind-boggling and well-worth checking out. Here is the link: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ppyWycppoazZk6w.html Dimash also recently released "Ikanaide,'' performed during the 2021 Tokyo Jazz Festival live stream, which is absolutely incredible. He sings in nearly flawless Japanese. Avoid any performance from "The World's Best." The show in L.A. was utterly disgraceful. The production team edited and cut all of Dimash's performances down to 2 minutes and cut out his Kazakh song for no reason.

    Love it! It is soooo much fun seeing you guys discovering Dimash, you are in for such a treat! People travel from round the world to catch his live shows, me included. I flew to Dubai two weeks ago, from South Africa to see him live, and there were fans who had flown in from 72 countries for this concert. To see him live is extraordinary. He is a beautiful soul, a consumate performer and a perfectionist, and has done his 100 000 hours of hard hard work. I truly believe there is nobody on earth who can do what he does. If you're not doing anything this weekend, take a trip to Prague and catch him live 😂😂!

    Greetings from Russia! Dimash sang the song "S.O.S." at the contest "I am a singer" in China when he was 22 years old. This song, written more than 40 years ago, tells about the torments of a man who cannot find his place in life and would like to become a bird in order to fly high and look at our Earth from above. Therefore, the author laid down the need for a singer to have at least four octaves in his voice. Dimash used 4.5 octaves. In general, Dimash can sing in 7 octaves and 3 tones - from B0 to D8. This was determined by reactor specialists from measurements in several Dimash songs. And the peculiarity of Dimash's creativity is that he combines opera, classical, modern and folk music!

    👍👍👍👏👏👏💕💕💕🌷🌷🌷 Thank you!!! Amazing reactions!!! I was laughing when you said “his entire range”…!!!! 😂😂😂😍 because this is neither the lowest nor the highest (D8 in Unforgettable Day at the Gakku concert) Dimash can sing. Also, you have only heard pop/rock with classical bel canto mixed in. Wait till you see him adding even more styles and genres such as tribal/ethnic in Sinful Passion or Stranger; Arabian in Lionel Richie’s Hello; operatic ad lib in All By Myself; and so much more. Well, you must definitely react to more Dimash!!! He has redefined Singing and the boundaries of the human voice!!! Oh and I forgot Diva Dance, that song from The Fifth Element sung by a blue alien. There’s not just huge jumps up and down the vocal registers and staccatos and other acrobatics reserved usually for coloratura sopranos, there’s also that infamous bar with eleven notes no human could sing and realized in the movie digitally with a computer. You’ve got to watch his versions: the Singer 2017 version with Confessa has the bar replaced by a series of high staccatos; the Bastau concert version includes that original impossible bar; the version with the Drunken Concubine has an added surprise 😬😂😂😂…

    Dimash is the best singer in the WORLD and there are no doubts about that, his voice is a prodigy of nature and a genetic marvel since his parents are two glories of singing from Kazakhstan since he was 5 years old, he sings publicly and has more than twenty years of lyrical training and graduated from the university of music, he is a singer, composer, arranger and multi instrumentalist, he plays more than seven musical instruments and sings in more than Ten(10) languages, he is also a great performer and a great artist who lives and feels music He is not an imitator of voices , Dimash has his own style and is one of the forerunners of the "POPera" he also has a very pleasant, HUMBLE and simple personality, easy access, which makes it very easy to follow, he always travels with His family and friends is a very educated person and an example to follow, he has become known for his musical talent not for getting into trouble or scandals, It has a very wide vocal range of approximately 7 octaves ,he is a singer with a wide vocal range very versatile is Baritone, TENOR , Soprano, counter TENOR, mezasoprano, everything at the same time is how to have 5 singers in one, it has a male and female voice, also many resources such as vibrato, "melismas", falsetto, Staccato,whistle tone, reaching a( D8 )live "Outside of Piano"at the concert of Gakku in an unforgettable day, at his young age he continues to improve and grow musically to perfection, he has a good physical presence he measures 191 cm or 6 "3", he is very famous and recognized in Asia and now he is becoming known In Europe and America, ALL their songs are spectacular, it always goes from low to high, soft to spectacular at the end, in my almost half a century of life I never heard so much quality and it is the hope of continuity of the classical genre because all the old tenors have already Almost all of them died and Dimash can sing like them but none of them can sing like Dimash, being a Man he sings better than any Tenor and his female voice is superior to that of any average Soprano, greetings and a hug from USA 🇺🇸 "Dears" Forever ❤️ Sorry for copying and pasting my informative comment in ALL the Video reactions to Dimash what I see but I do it with the intention of sharing information about him and what I think that in the music industry there are many artists who have been successful and have no talent and are bad people and they do not set a good example for the youth, Dimash and his music deserve to triumph in America, Europe and the whole WORLD, do you want to have already read my comment please come by without problem there is always someone who for the first time knows this information and I won't get tired of sharing it with all my friends"Dear" around the world, thanks for reading and for supporting Dimash 🙏🏻S.O.S. I’ve only come across that once before. Great first reaction to Dimash….brings back memories. He is not here doing this by accident. His grandmother predicted this before he was born. His unusual tones, frequencies, techniques, and abilities are destined to repair what we have been considering to be music, and bring healing and refreshment. Some clinics use his songs to cure depression. Some Dears/his fans claim varying degrees of healing from frequently listening to his vast array of songs and performances on the internet. So if you are impressed, hop on the train and you will be blessed……

    Thank you for you initiative to have three vocal coaches reacting to Dimash!!! The Singer , it was a Chinese show for highly respected singers to compete, Dimash was the only non Chinese singer invited because the producer saw him perform for the Chinese and Kazakh presidents and was very impressed. He is from Kazakhstan and was the youngest ever competitor in 2017 at only 22 years old. This was his first performance on the show and the audience went wild for him. When the show was broadcast on tv he had to have bodyguards for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China. He is now a world class artist, will turn 28 on the 24th of May but touring the world to sell out arenas with his solo concerts, he also performs in concerts with the famous Russian composer Igor Krutoy, is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses. He is university trained in Classical opera vocals to degree level, also holds a degree in contemporary pop music and jazz with a major in vocals. Also finished his master degree in music composition. The audience consists of 500 Chinese vocal and music coaches. After each round of singing/performing, they vote to rank each performer. This annual televised contest is known in China as "The Singer". and it is four months long. At that time (2017), only Chinese were allowed to win the contest....Dimash came in a very close second place. By the way, the performance to which you just reacted was broadcast into 600 million Chinese homes and they went wild for him!. The next morning Dimash was given bodyguards for the first time in his life.
