ABOUT THIS VIDEO
In this video, I talk about the 3 things you must do in order to improve your English. The good news is that you can totally do these things by yourself, alone at home. You don't need a teacher to point out every mistake in order to improve. You just need to focus on input, output, and study.
Input is surrounding yourself with the language, creating your own "immersion" experience. This means you can listen to music in English, watch videos in English, read in English, listen to podcasts, etc. This will help your brain absorb the language and become familiar with it.
However, input alone is not enough. You also need output. You need to practice speaking and writing. You need to USE the language. This means you can practice English with a language partner, start a KZread channel, create a blog-- it doesn't matter! As long as you are consistently communicating in English, you will sharpen your ability to use the language.
And finally, you need study. If you only consume English and use it, without actually looking into your weaknesses and how you can improve the language, it's very likely that your will plateau. You will stop improving. If you want to avoid this, you need to constantly be analyzing your English and how you can improve it. What sounds can you improve when you speak? What grammar constructions can you practice and improve? What new words are you learning around you?
I highly recommend that you keep track of what you learn and review it frequently if you want to improve your English. You can write in a journal by hand or use online tools. Personally, I really like Instagram for keeping track of progress, because you can add images that will help you remember what you learned and then write a unique description. You can explain what it is you learned, how you learned it, etc. Then, whenever you are bored, you can scroll through your account to review new words, phrases, etc.
In this video I also talk about my English and Spanish. I'm a native English speaker, but I'm also fluent in Spanish. However, my Spanish has definitely plateaued. I don't actively seek to improve it because I reached the level I wanted and my Spanish is good enough for me to use it in the ways that I want. This is also something for you to consider... how good does your English need to be in order for you to reach your goals?
I hope you enjoyed this video and learned something new! It's good to be back, and I can't wait to make another video for everyone here.
Talk soon!
Stefanie

OMG you guys it is so good to be back!!! I was so excited to make this video that I kind of jumped all over the place so I hope you don't mind, lol. And I think I am the absolute queen of saying, "Ok, and to wrap up this video..." and then talking for 7 more minutes! Like, no, that is not wrapping up a video that is continuing the video... haha. I think when I say I'm gonna wrap up the video, that's code for "we are only halfway through, guys!" lol. Anyhow, thank you all for your patience. This year has been crazy but I finally feel like I'm back on my feet and man oh man is it good to be back!!

Halo! I'm watching this in 2024, English is a foreign language in my country. I've been learning English since I was senior high school where we should speak English in our daliy activities. But it hit me hard bcs I can't even speak English, so I decide to start learning English by doing memorizing vocabularies, talk to my friends with English, write down every stuffs that i have with English, etc. And now I just realized that the way I learn English easier is by watching people who speaks English and read the subtitle in English so i can know how to pronounce that words correctly. Thank you for your video bcs it relates with me :)

It's always a happiness and pleasure listening to you! You are a great coach for sure and you also tell us different interesting stories, share with us useful information, and give us valuable advices! Please continue to be with us! ❤ I totally agree with you about priorities, especially in learning and maintaining languages. I'm a native Russian speaker, but for the last 10 years I've been living in Cyprus and my husband is Greek. I speak greek fluently but I decided not to continue learning it, because as you said - I realized that my Russian started to sound a little but weird. So I read and listen to a different content in Russian as well in order to speak beautifully and properly.

It's so meaningful to see happiness in bottom of her eyes. Hopefully she pulled it off. As she mentioned in her Instagram post this week she is definitely a very transparent and opened person and we can easily see right off in her eyes whether she's struggling with something or not. I believe as I am, all of your subs are pretty glad to see you smiling and shining again. Sometimes all of us need to to take a break of social medias to see the big picture, see what is going on around us, see what is bothering and making us struggle with depression feelings. Everyone goes thorough harsh times, but there are different sore of people and automatically different kind of ways to struggle against these feelings. We gotta help each other get over them. Well, that's it. Welcome back Stefanie, you rock and help us rock too. Cheers from Brazil and God bless you and all of us! ❤️🇧🇷 (We still hope to see your video in Portuguese, even though probably Portuguese isn't your priority hehe)

I like watching family vlogs (Jhouse vlogs) because they show English on daily basis, sometimes I watch series as well. I'm reading Duma Key from Stephen King, it was a gift from my sister, I also read the Scriptures everyday in an English version or I just listen to it.

Thank you so much for your video. I've started learning English for some months, so I'm beginner. So for me you speak so fast, it's really hard to understand but it becomes easier with subtitles. In the same time I liked this and I totally loved your accent. It was so interesting. I've learned a lot. Thank you again Take care

Hello! Thank you for this video. I'm from Belgium and I've been learning English for 2 years at least. I learn a lot when I'm watching KZread videos or movies. I also talk with my family who lives in America, they're from Michigan and California. I notice that my brain memorizes more easily when I'm listening to people speaking each other than when I'm reading something. I took tests in English and I've got a B2 level. I try to improve it to reach the C1 and next the C2 level. Anyway, you've got one more subscriber. You speak very well! I understood everything you said without stopping the video. 👍

Thanks for sharing! Your advices are very useful. I practice English with my girlfriend every day with this methodology. First we start watching a video on KZread and reading a book. Next we write about a interesting topic and speak about a subject or topic that we know. Finally we study grammar and practice our pronunciation.

Hello! I just want to say that I haven´t seen this video. The very first time I did, I was surprised. How good your English, your pronounciation, and skills to comunicate your ideas. Certainly If I keep watching this, I will improve my English that is not good enough. This is very helpful to all of us. Thanks a lot English Coach. I´m a Mexican Citizen but very interested about this world-round Language. I´ve been learning English since 1982. mmmmm. I haven´t quit.

For input, I recommend watching short videos of the content of your interest: TED Talks channel and any TV Series are good for that because I think they are easy to review. I also read content from websites of International Companies that have business of my own interests. For example, I am a realtor so I usually check websites and podcasts of interesting Real Estate agencies and agents.
