    Any advice for fishing from the shore? Waders absolutely necessary. Just moved out here couldn’t bring any of my gear with me except a medium light 6’6 rod. Will be kayak fishing this summer but right now just from shore

    Absolutely! If you’re fishing May and June fish up north. 20 foot ledge and near the points. That rod will be great for pitching HookUp Baits (learn how to run those ) and trolling mag lip 3.5 and Dirtee dancers. Troll to start your day then once you’ve found fish throw jigs. Chartreuse with red dots , fire tiger and white when the sun is out. Olive frog and copper if not.

    What size flat fish are you using? I have a 15' valco with 25hp is that too small of a boat for that lake for safety reasons? I see it can get really windy on Pyramid lake. When is best time of year for the cutthroat and what shoreline to fish?

  • @wildfishwildplaces5079

    @wildfishwildplaces5079

    Hey Mike! There is obviously so much detail within all of these questions but I will try to help out and as much as possible. U20 and M2 flatfish are preferred size with the U20 the more go to. Your boat will work but only when conditions are very very calm. You can fish all of the west and south shoreline and might be able to launch from the beach in some places. Best time of year is all season really, only thing that changes is how you fish for them.

  • @wildfishwildplaces5079

    Thank you! I would say my number one lures from shore are Hair jigs in a black (dark conditions) white (bright conditions) and Spoons. The trick with both of these, even the spoons is to slap them on the bottom. The spoon will sit in the sand and mud as you jiggle it on the bottom attracting any fish around... as soon as you start reeling it they smash it

    Yea, about the barbless hooks, are people just sniping or grinding all barbs on hooks for lures, I haven’t heard much on what to use and where to get them,

  • @wildfishwildplaces5079

    Just pinch the barbs down & the rule of thumb is afterwards just try it on your shirt if it dont snag your good to go! i learned that from the Nevada fish & feather guys lol

    It doesn't matter what you use when it comes to using irritants. Get your hardware in the fishes personal space and it will trigger a response the first time be it a slow follow an aggressive chase, nose bump, or chews down on it. After a while the same presentation will loose it's affectiveness. Then change out to something different.
