You created so much in such a short amount of time! Creating a game in 3 hours is honestly amazing, the Trijam is a really an interesting format for a game jam.

3 hours, this is super impressive. The last minute was intense😅. Never used GDevelop but know people who do and it can do really cool stuff.
I've been using the engine for a while now, and honestly this just blew my mind. A lot of new ways to approach a solutions and movements. It's awesome to not just watch a tutorial, but actual coding and problem solving of a situation. Awesome! Thanks for sharing and thanks GDevelop for sponsoring this, please do more is a very effective way of learning.

Impressive! I've been using Gdevelop to create the project I'm currently working on and it's been a really positive experience so far! I heard about this engine from a similarly sponsored video like this and I think it's a great way of getting the word out and inspiring entertaining videos at the same time.

This sounds too good to be true! What a great intro to this software. So excited to try this engine out!!!!
On top of being a very nice game for 3h, the video was super entertaining :)
And I just spent over an hour fighting with 2D lights in Unity... XD
A new Vimlark game jam video? Awesome! My sister and I were just binging all your videos this morning, haha. :)
That was so cool to watch live. The 5hr stream went by so fast.
It’s great to see GDevelop to get a lot more attention recently! It’s also great to support any open source project! Great Video Vimlark!
Was fun watching you try out GDevelop! As a fellow C3 user primarily I’ve always been intrigued by it. Great job with only 3 hours as well :)
I’ve done 3 hour games before (even a 1 hour game!) so I know just how crazy it can get! Great job on this game, it looks great!

For an engine you haven't used before, you did an amazing job. Well done!
This is the engine that i use, so this is super cool to see you use it!
hello! youre one of the thigns thta got me into game developping thanks :)
Awesome game idea and super impressive it was done in 3 hours in an engine you're unfamiliar with!
everytime u make a game mobile (even thought it’s not intentional sometimes😅) it makes it more accessible to actually play the game and try it out and it’s more engaging JUST like how tht viewer in the livestream did as soon as i saw tht u were finished making the game i tried it on my phone and it’s even crazier knowing i just watched u make it in 3hrs

Can't wait to see what you did here!
now i can watch ur videos to learn details about how u develop the game.tq!! subs
Nice game for a three hour effort! Especially doing it live, I imagine that adds pressure! 🤙🏼
My personal favorite moment: 1:34 - glad my workaround made it into the video :D

It was so nice seeing somebody use the same engine I use

Very nice work! In the music file part, the loop category was as "No". I think that didn't work because of that.
LONG LIVE GDEVELOP
I’m so envious of your Dracula hairline
I made something that can move up down left and right, and I'm ok with that😂. Nice game👍, I think adding obstacles that move in straight lines in-between the platforms so you have to time your jumps would be fun
I started learning this engine last week because It is easy
wow I didn't know GDevelop got so much features now, the last time I use GDevelop it was so bland. definitely gonna try it again now
pretty cool
prefered the little leg dance whenever you launched it!
Very impressive indeed! And you seem to enjoy gDevelop... Except for that milliseconds thing. LoL!
GDevelop is looking awesome not gonna lie 🤩

Vim, stick it out with GDevelop brother. Everything I've seen you make can be done with GD for free. Would soooo love to see more GDevelop5 content!
I want to learn how to code on gdevelop, i even followed a tutorial but I had no clue how to make a variable
@qmerk2661
Жыл бұрын
yea i just tried gdevelop for the first time about an hour ago, and the variable thing seems hard to get a hang of.
@roshannaik7283
Жыл бұрын
There are 3 types of variable in Gdevelop Global variable :- Click on scene manager at the left side and open properties tab ...there is a option called "Global Variable " just add a variable and name it These can be accessed anywhere in entire game Scene variable :- press V on the specific scene editor to open a scene variable tab ...but this is available only in that specific scene where it was created Object variable :- double click on obect go open its properties ...3rd tab will be object variable...these are only accesible with that specific object and its copies ....

Same types of variables from what I saw. They are just used and assigned a bit different from Construct. GDevelop also has Scene Variables that are just for the Scene (Layout in Construct) you are on.

Looks very similar to construct.
is it just me or does gdevelop look way better to work with than construct?
@Vimlark
Жыл бұрын
They are super similar. Just depends on what you enjoy and are familiar with.
Curious as to how this engine really differs from construct? I was hoping it would be construct but with objects. But the main difference just seems to be the asset store
@BlackJester57
Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure how Construct works but Gdevelop definitely has objects.
@Vimlark

It's very similar to Construct. The way you work with objects is a bit different between the 2 but it's just getting used to how they work in each.

I like that it's FLOSS but I still can't take "no-code" engines seriously.
@Vimlark
Жыл бұрын
All I care about is the game at the end. How it was made isn't much of a concern to me. But if you already know how to code it makes sense that they wouldn't be for you. It's like, I've been using Photoshop for over 20 years and it would seem silly to me to use Paint. But there are still some amazing things made using paint.
@MarcosCodas
Жыл бұрын
You can still add JavaScript to any GDevelop project if you prefer, at any point. So it's not JUST no-code.
@SoIDontUploadMuch
Жыл бұрын
@@MarcosCodas Using JavaScript is *barely* coding.
@MarcosCodas
Жыл бұрын
@@SoIDontUploadMuch I guess that depends on personal preference? It does power a lot of the modern web. But I can see the appeal of going for a more low-level approach like C++ or even Assembly. I just see web technologies as an accessibility tool to lower the barrier of entry for new developers, and no-code expands upon that idea. I guess I care more about that than the complexity of the tool or the language that I'm using. As long as it doesn't hinder my creativity or the performance of what I'm trying to achieve, I don't really care what it is. And I find these types of tools and languages actually accelerate both, so they work for me. But of course, YMMV.
yay g develope!

This engine is very good in many ways. I just miss a feature that makes it easier to create Steam Achievements. Actually i know how to do in Construct 3,but not in Gdevelop.
@Vimlark
Жыл бұрын
I haven't done Steam achievements in either so can't speak on it. But I do GDevelop is open to suggestions and that may be of interest to them.
I honestly resort to GDevelop because scratch sucks for anything other than point and click adventure games so yeah, but the only downside is theres a watermark that you have to pay to get rid of every month.

I would like to check out Godot some day but it's not as similar as Construct is to GDevelop. Construct and GDevelop both have a very similar block coding structures so it's easier to move between them. GD Script is a more traditional text based coding structure from what I've seen while talking to my friends that use it.
