3 Calf Exercises YOU NEED TO BE DOING (BODYWEIGHT!)

Link to get notified about the course: ryanhumiston.com/course/
Ready to blow those calves up?
I ran through my top 3 calf exercises that you can easily do at home and get some serious results. The biggest takeaways are that you can really leverage your own bodyweight or put your calf in an extreme stretch position to really create an intense contraction.
Let me know what you think and what video you want next.

Because your body is the weight and it's unstable, so you have to balance it - making the exercise so much harder than using barbells/dumbbells or machines which are pre-balanced.

squatting down like that really stretches them out I never thought about repetitions from that position. Also it's good to stretch the calf's on day you aren't working them. I like to use a lat machine by running the cable down and up via the lower wheel and using a small straight tricep bar placed on the knees along with a pillow of course. I then place my feet on the pegs while sitting on a bench that can be height adjusted and do my raises like that at different height levels on the bench. I've gotten some really good pumps/results with this approach. For some of you who just can't seem to get those calf's growing no matter what a little pump and pose doesn't hurt just please don't over do that stuff!

The squatted calf raise hits the outer portion of the calves insanely. They've made my calves look very muscular from the front view. For the inner calf, do them on a step with a slightly wider than shoulder stance, knees locked.

I'm starting to prefer unilateral training. I really like the Soleus lunge calf raise Ryan does here! It is a bit difficult to see, but is the trailing leg supposed to be off the ground for the duration of the set? I'm going to start doing this exercise on a regular basis and see how it works for me. I'm getting tired of doing seated calf exercises with dumbbells!....LOL.

do you prefer to work out barefoot or in gym shoes? I wouldn't go barefoot in a public gym of course but see a lot of guys exercising barefoot. My ankles are tight and everyone does vids about everything else other than ankles and wrists which in my opinion is 2 of the most critical parts of the body that need development in order to better ones form when exercising. Can you do a mobility or vid about ankles, wrists and other joints that would help? No one has put anything out latley that is helpful and once all these gyms reopen, its gonna get real and I want to make sure my bodies joints are ready for the beating I'm going to give it! My home gym is nice but my gym has amazing machines that my body hasn't been around in just over 2 months so Im preparing to be exhausted and getting mentally ready for the pain that most of us love! Makes me feel alive and I crave that pain! Thanks man, you're the best literally!!!

Hi Ryan. Love your content and your training mentallity. I'm 50 years old. I have a question about training forearms and calves. I started to train my forearms again. I train them everyday and I love it. Is it okay to train them everyday? I didn't really feel my calves using machines and weights. So your body weight calves video inspired me to train them with only body weigth using steps of the stairs. I have a good mind muscle connection now and really feel them now. Is it okay to train them everyday and/or when they are still sore? Greetings from Amsterdam
