25 Tiny Changes to Break 100

Спорт

For collab/partnerships contact: matt@golfsidekick.com
I will be putting up videos of me playing left handed too so that anyone poo-pooing any idea in this video will have to eat his words.
I will break 100 easily by following the exact same ideas in this video plus expanding out quickly as I begin to udnerstand my shots and my game.
There can no longer be a victim mindset when I go out there and play the wrong way round and break 100. If you watch 5-6 of my break 100 videos, you will break 100. If you think you cannot do it, it means you cannot.
First left handed video can be found here: {coming soon}

I broke 100 today for the first time with a 98. I started golfing a year ago, no lessons just YT. I still can't hit my driver but I don't need to as my 5W stays in play off the tee. Something just started clicking with my irons lately and I'm enjoying myself a lot more out on the course. I just wanted to say, thank you!

Congrats, you're on the right road! I am a senior, many years away from the game. Shot an 83 today on a 5,500 yard course, with no hits over about 190 yards. So it can be done. For what it's worth, this is my best score since I got back to the game. You don't have to hit it 250 yards, just keep the ball in play.

@@deanmccormick8070 Congrats on the 83, that is impressive to someone like myself. I play on a 9 hole course 3000 yard tees. My best 9 is a 46 while best 18 is 98. I don't care how far it goes as long as its in play.

I modified the scorecard at my home course to reflect your strategy. I showed it to the club pro, and he loved it! Our course just opened for the season (I'm in New England), and I played my first nine of the season applying Matt's system. I used a 3-iron off the tee. EVERY tee ball was on the fairway, and I was able to get on the greens with the modified GIR. Putting sucked, though: too many 3-putts. I could have shaved 5 strokes had I putted better. This system ROCKS!

For people worried about playing with strangers if you are still trying to break 100 - low handicaps don’t care how many times you hit. If you don’t rage when you hit bad, only take about 30 seconds to line up and hit your ball, and aren’t being super negative, I’m going to have a great round, and help you look for your ball in the trees. Your baus system sounds like a great way for players to stay positive and adjust their expectations! A positive golfer is a golfer who is going to make good decisions and play well

Thank you for posting that. I have broken 100 a few times, but I always have to find a group of friends to play with because I don't want to be added in to a group of good players. I never get upset playing golf. I think I might take one of those single tee times this weekend and just go out with a good attitude. I am also very cognizant of my pace of play. I will pick up before I slow people down.

This is all 100% true. I tried to break 100 for YEARS. Did the Golf Sidekick Way of the Playa and broke 100 almost immediately. This works, period. I am working on getting consistently under 100 (last round was 103), but I'm now shooting 18 hole rounds as low as 93 and 9 holes as low as 40. You can do this!

Matty Boom Boom has transformed me from a bad golfer to a golf lover. I would have never discovered some of these tips on my own. Not only am I close to breaking 90, but I plan my shots and enjoy the game even when I have a bad hole. Recognizing the little things matters: Play to your shot shape. Texas. Toe down chip. Quit hitting and hoping for the green every approach. No Hero shots. Thank you, Matty Playa. Cheers

Right there with you. I'm around a 2 handicap and had an absolutely rotten day ball striking a couple of days ago and still shot 77. Yesterday started out rough and shot 5 over on the front 9. Followed that up by 4 under on the back 9. Staying in the right mindset and not letting a bad hole , or two, spiral out of control. These kids are great for everyone.

@footbowl8939 7 is good too! I just switched to a new set of irons and I'm adjusting to the new lofts for those type shots. My titleist blades had a loft of 48° for pw. My 0311's pw is 42° so the number on the bottom of the club isn't as relevant as the actual style / type of shot these days.

I’ve been watching GSK for years. The one issue I’ve always had with this channel is the fact that the system that Matt uses relies on the assumption that the player can make proper contact. “Just break the approach up into 2 shots”. Thats fine as long as the high handicapper can make solid contact with both wedge approach shots. “Just take an iron or a hybrid off the tee”. Well, there are no fairway finder clubs for high handicappers. They are just as likely to duff a 7 iron off the tee as a driver. Need more videos like this where he takes duffs into consideration. I like it!

Matt is correct. I’m a 4 handicap, and whenever I play with someone who is less advanced in the game but they’re playing within themselves and only hitting shots they have some confidence in, I’m impressed and I think, “that’s good golf right there.” Plus, they keep up with pace of play because they spend most of the round in the fairway! And I have a pretty good short game, but in the winter here in Tennessee with wet, tight lies of dormant Bermuda, I use the handle high, toe down chipping 95% of the time, even from 50 yards out or so. Many higher handicaps could save 5-10 strokes a round just doing it, versus thinning and fatting lob wedges all day. G I O T G !

I broke 100 for the first time last season following Matty Boom Boom's advice. I had only 1 or 2 pars and never hit a green in "pro regulation". But I managed the course to hit only comfy shots and had only 35 putts. If instead of practicing 4 foot putts and playing smart I would have spent all week ripping drivers at the range and going for it every hole, I'd have shot 120 easily. There are only 2 people to allow in your head during a round of golf - Golf sidekick and Bob Rotella. Make everyone else stfu and you will reach your goals.

I'm just starting to play golf again after a 10+ year hiatus. In the past 10 years, I might have played 5 times until the last month. I played SOOO bad the past few rounds, and I was very discouraged. I watched this video and a few others of yours and I took some notes on my phone. I went out this morning by myself and incorporated several of your suggestions: 1) I stopped trying to hit PGA shots and I focused on hitting to safe spots; 2) I reduced the clubs in my bag to 5w, 6i, 8i, PW, SW, and putter; 3) I tried to not "hit" the ball, I focused on swinging the club; 4) The decision box/execution box; 5) Titties to the target! I didn't break 100 because my ball striking on the first 7-8 holes was horrendous and I 3-putted way too much. BUT, I figured out 3 things by the turn that helped my ball striking tremendously: 1) I swung the club closer to my body, 2) I straightened my left arm more and pulled it with my shoulder through the downswing, and 3) I started rotating my wrists more. After I got the feel for these 3 things, I was actually shaping the ball occasionally and it actually worked. Also at the beginning of my round the 6i was my 150 club, but by the back 9, my 8i was my 150 club. I also figured out that I was better off using a 6 or 8 iron for chipping, leaving the wedges for longer shots. Anyway, thank you. I know I'm going to be breaking 100 soon.

with your Saffer accent, "Golf Sidekick" kind of sounds like "Golf Psychic" (see 14:51 of this video, e.g.)

Low handicappers do respect this, I would much rather you play like this if we are paired together than the normal hook and slice drives every tee shot

Those "dingleberries" are the ones that poopoo you for laying up on a par 3 and then proceed to slice it into the pond 50 yards right of the green....which is further away than your lay up!!!😂

Need a video for the good player who is highly erratic. Can drive the ball 300 yards and score 9 pars in around but struggles to break 90 and whose driver is straightest club.

I've only broke 100 1 time and it barely counts for me because it was an executive course and it only had 3 par 4s on the front 9 and we weren't allowed to play the back 9 that day so I played the front twice and got 96. I would have never broke 100 if I played the back 9 that day. Not a chance

In High School, I won the "Mr Confidentiality" award. Wait. That was Mr "Congeniality". Well, same thing. Anyway, I am congenial I can break 90 with this method. I wont be sharing when I do. I want to keep it consequential.

@@GolfSidekick I'll get my fishing waders on and go find 1000 for my caddy to sell back to the people who lose them. I find people don't lose many balls to bad shots - they lose them to bad decisions.
